  1. But : If we beat Carlton with all their priority picks and first round offers , plus the house that Dick bought (Judd), then why would we need PP. Just somehow it would be well worth it!!! Added boneses : Kruser (PP) reported for striking Jetta( No 435 Draft Pick who will finish up as effective as him) Fevola not getting a kick and doing his usual sulk. Judd getting Towelled by Dunn Jurrah taking Gibb to the cleaners Moloney cleaning Murphy up at the opening bounce. WHy do we need PP ???
  2. Probably not directly related to 3 word analysis, but : Umpires Bloody shithouse. Decision against Frawley 90 metre off the ball must rank as the decision of the year. Eddie McDickhead would have taken them to court if it had happened against Collingwood. Statisticians mean nothing: Ignores Stef's shepherd of Jurrah's goal. Ignored Jettas tackle on the man mountain front on ,which lead to a goal Ignored Jonesy's efforts that set us up with his COMMITTED approach. Ignored Brad Miller letting Dodd know that is he wants to fight Jurrah he is going to have to get past him. Thats why we need him to look after Jurrah (Doesnt need much looking after'!!) and also to provide the protection from School Footy to big kid footy for that unmentioned new player. The players all showed their appreciation of these efforts. Jimmy doesnt need a stat to be effective.
  3. WHO IS DODDAS ?? If JeffWhite was adaptable he would be still playing at MFC as a key forward.
  4. I thought Tommy Mc was good in his debut. Seems a 1 grab player (i.e. Sure Hands ) and had good decision making/execution skills with his disposal. Looks like a real footballer who came of at 3/4 time in the seconds because we were short and didnt have time to get changed.
  5. Agree, sick of hearing about trading draft picks for players, when the same people have been rejoicing about the long term benefits of gaining draft picks. Cannot work some people out. :
  6. Hey Jack Watts was going to save us this year !! We are putting too much expectations on Watts ,Scully etc by thinking they will AUTOMATICALLY save the club. As for rotations, our COaches are trying flexibilityas a means of resting players. Jones resting on Fwd line gives us Grunt. Newton & Johnson resting over @ Elsternwick Park at least improves our decision making skills.
  7. Agree. Scully must be absolutely dynamite, becasue he is going to change the culture as well. Today was not one of our better days. PS: Better sign Petterd before GC AFL get him on pick 267, becasue all the other clubs will have to donate 15 draft picks each and send all Qlders home to satisfy AFL
  8. This kid might win the Brownlow his father kept on missing out on.(Through Suspension)
  9. Wasn't the new Director of Coaching out for an early morning run ??? We know it wasn't the world's greatest assistant (FIGITY )(because Sandy Roberts was hanging out of "uknow where" A figity is an extension of FIGJAM ( ITY means "I'll tell you")
  10. Additional : Bailey is queried re rotations. Bit difficult to shift people off the ground when no one is there to replace them !! Matty Whelan did come onto the ground and stood, hobbled, hopped, limped around Fwd Pocket. A wonder DB wasnt accused of tanking by playing him out of position. The new Director of Coaching : i.e. Malthouse ( is that director of Coaching for Collingwood or does it imply for all of the AFL) queries why Nathan Jones wasnt on the ball all the last quarter. (Somehow I cannot recollect Davis ,Thomas, Didak or Lockyer playing in the midfield ALL the first Q) I think it was because he was *&%^$#ed. Matty Bate etc had to stay on the ground just in case there was a number count. ( If we had <18 we would have been tanking.) I reckon it will be terrific when DB is employed as a Special Commentator when Collingwood are playing and the Dir of Coaching makes an unusual move. Go for the jugular DB !!!
  11. Fair enough, sorry, . I think Ray may have added some adjectives !!
  12. Interesting now that every person has become so "moral". Vossy played Charman @ Full Forward, Coaching Genius. Bailey with 4 blokes in the morgue rejigs the side, plays Warnock up forward : Tanker !!! Malthouse is against PP . Does that mean Pendlebury & Thomas will not play again this year. To be fair CArlton is the only one staying quiet. Wonder !! Lets be consistent.
  13. On Foxsports League teams last Thursday/Friday, Ray Shaw was reviewing Melbourne's progress. "Jamar has been pretty good since he came back from injury, although he was very quiet last week against Sydney" Pretty hard to have an impact on the game from his loungeroom. Why do we assume quality comes with fame. Somebody must have worked the magnet board at Bucksland when Shawy was coach. Adds fuel to the Malthouse angle on life that you only know something about anything IF you have played AFL.
  14. Can only agree !! Good to see someone actually put a positive spin on our "boys" instead of talking about trading, "getting rid of "etc. , "how the sky will fall in if we dont get Scully". We still have a number 1 draft pick up our sleeve hidden in the back of the gym, pumping iron and eating donuts, (along with Cale hopefully) These kids mentioned above are only under 21/22 and many of them have over came injuries that effectively put them as 2nd year players e.g. Petterd, Bartram. Spence is still growing. We have forgotten about Aussie who was primed for a big year Just think of James Frawley as a 2000 version of Gary Ayres, the way he threads traffic. The improvement of Warnock has been fantastic and the best (well nearly) Garland is still to come back. The backline is looking good. Cheney plays tall for a 19 yo ( If he played for BUCKS and EDDI ) he would be a candidate for sainthood. Jetta and Bennell are picking up the tempo nicely. And the icing on the cake is Grimes ( see poll that rates him next best rookie after Rich, but that's because more people from Brisbane ahd the day off to ring in) Credit to the coaches who sent these kids back to Casey to LEARN ( and for Peter German for teaching)thus providing a learning environment by encouraging flexibility. The side did not lose anything by Warnock & Frawley having a little gallop in the fwd line at all. :)
  15. I like Jonesy too, we have just got to get him to be 1 grab player (like Jurrah) which will buy him that fraction of time that will make him a great player. Everything else is there !! :D
  16. If anybody deserves a milestone game, it is Whelan. Watts for Newton (unfortunately the only positive for him was his stats). This only proves that if you run around in circles long enough the ball wiil eventually come to you. Otherwise Sylvia for Bennell assuming he is injured, Hughes for PJ or Spence if he is injured.
  17. Don't give us this rubbish about tanking. Some people have become obsessed about trading and drafts. 1 player will not win us a premiership, however I group (ie team) will. We are starting to develop a group who are really learning to together. Even Geelong make mistakes. That 2nd half today was as good a game as you could wish to see. Warnock was up forward to provide height and strength to stretch Richmond'sdefence (and he did). Why are we so obsessed about it. Petterd, Bartram,Grimes,Cheney, Bennell,Jetta,Frawley, Dunn all proved that they are quality players in the making. We forget sometimes these kids are only 21 (if that) They faced one of the good midfields in the AFL (admittedly with Foley absent) and more than held their own so well done ,Petterd,Jones,Bartram and Jetta. If we do not get Scully, the sky is not going to fall in !!! When you look at Premiership teams ,there are a lot of "ördinary players" in those sides. Mc Donald was what we expect of him, wholehearted !!! The coaches are developing flexibility. Or else we will have a side of Fevolas who can only play one position providing everyone else puts it lace out to him, or else you sulk !!
  18. Well done to all concerned and thanks for the summary of what would have been just a fantastic night. These young men and their families have made massive leaps for themselves ,their families and their people. Brings goosebumps !!
  19. Frawley,Warnock, Rivers: Solid and Reliable Wheatley: Mixture Bruce: Brilliant Green: presenting allover ground Davey: the deliverer Bell: Takes them on ???? Grimes :growing in quality Morton: Chased better Moloney: Disposal improved markedly McLean: Getting more confident Dunn: Great team game, 1%s,tackles Jetta: Forward pressure,Teamplayer Bate: Provides genuine target Jurrah: Has footy brain (most important arrival since Bethlehem) Robbo: Moved more Petterd: Worked well with Jurrah & Bate Jamar : A genuine ruckman McDonald: Director & supporter Jones: Disposal better,Courageous Martin: Apprentice multi skilled Umpires: Cannot fathom !!
  20. Lets get a few things in perspective. The group collectively is playing with more confidence, which is worth a player+ to the side as a whole. Daniel Rich was not number 1 Draft pick, nor was James Hird, James Bartel, Joel Selwood, Sam Mitchell, Brad Sewell, Buddy etc. so lets not get ahead of ourselves too much by being so negative. We could look at it this way : Grimes,Bennell & Jetta (& Cheney)have been blooded and could develop into really good midfielders. One bloke broke his leg playing Kick to kick (so he enjoys footy). Nathan Jones is only 21, Moloney isnt much older My question is How are we going to fit them all into the team !! We have alreadý unearthed potential Forwards in Watts, Jurrah ,Petterd and Bate. Garland,Warnock,Frawley have proved they are in the mix. Rivers has got his body right whilst still showing reckless courage. Jamar has improved markedly and we have backup. Why the fuss over a possible draft pick. If we continually have number 1 draft picks and priority picks , we will NOT exist !! Enjoy the win !!!
  21. Bate : Presented well Frawley: Stands Tall Rivers : Courage personified Warnock: Best 1 % Bennell: Improving Petterd: Plays above height Wheatley: welcome back McLean: Appreciated extra time Sylvia: Quality when thinking Jurrah: Floats beautifully Bruce: Leadership Mc Donald : Fair Dinkum Green: Back to kicking Jetta: Could be mid fielder Davey: Overcame early frustration Robbo: Needs to lead Jones: Passionate & Brave Jamar: At last a ruckman Morton: Tired but unused Martin: Improving exponentially Moloney: Better disposal Grimes: Bloody brilliant Apart from that they COMPETED !
  22. Just wish Robbo would lead instaead of Jumping. Cost us two goals. Rivers : Courage ,never doubted it !!!
  23. So what is proposed is that we sack the Coach who is teaching kids to play AFL and once he has done the hard yards , replace him with a marketing campaign. Hey, M FOOTBALL Club. Too many people want quick fixes (a Month ago Watts was going to be THE SAVIOUR of the Club, Now people want him back @ Casey to grow up !!) Cannot expect players to show loyalty when we appoint a bloke who is prepared for short term setbacks for longer term reward. Remember there were 5 first year kids there on Sat night, plus 3 others who are virtually 2nd year players. Just think if we could get the same degree of improvement out of everyone like we have out of Warnock & James Frawley, how good we will be. Why hand the cake to somebody who is only interested in promoting himself ?
  24. Disappointing from a result point of view: Positives : Frawley,Warnock Sylvia,Grimes Negatives : Clearances, Pressure(lack of !!) Potential : Liam, Watts, Bennell, Grimes, Jetta, Morton.Frawley,Stef (All Kids) Heart /Passion : Matty, Jonesy,Jarred Rivers
