  1. Heard someone the other day refer to him as General Dawes after the way he goes about his footy, direction/energy to other players and his leadership. Couldn't agree anymore and what a role model for Hogan.
  2. I watched this incident a few times and in Brown's defense Yarran came accross the front of the pack, Brown closed his eyes as he would have anticipated an impact, and Yarran's boots came perfectly in his hands - instinct took care of the rest. Not reportable, but Yarran should have been paid the mark or been given a free.
  3. According to the AFL app, Toumpas is our sub and Moore is for Port
  4. Freo and Geelong will be the big contenders. Go for him, and if we can't go for tex. But I have to admit, his pressure last week against Richmond was pathetic and his lack of defence needs work.
  5. Dont forget about that spud Salem. I mean Kelly > Salem + Tyson (People forget that he was blunt knives in that deal) On a serious note though I would love to see a journalist actually publish what you have highlighted.
  6. With GWS' defense, probably at our expense again if you get what I mean
  7. I stand corrected. Except for the Carlton comment Clint Amendments made
  8. Back on topic, Anyone else noticed that the 1 and a half of the teams we've beaten so far this season were all playing finals last year? Edited: corrected that Adelaide did not play finals and semantics on Carlton
  9. We all know what Neeld tried to do... He inherited an unfit, inexperienced and talent-less list. To try and fix this he brought premiership and experienced players like Byrnes, Dawes (who we wouldn't have got without Neeld) and Rodan, not to mention culling the list of poor draft choices like Gysberts (which we traded for Pedersen), Bennell, Bate etc. In coaching and other aspects like his approach to players he was a complete failure. People attribute a lot of things to Neeld, but often look past why he made those decisions and what happened in the Bailey era. Edited: corrected that Neeld did not bring in Misson
  10. I've had some terrible posts: I once said that Bailey was a hard coach, Neeld would get us through the crisis, and got plenty of other stuff wrong about players. Just be aware of the affirmations though. I base mine on my own poor opinions
  11. Like when you said Watts and Howe would be dropped? (couldn't find your original post... strange) Or how about when we would trade pick 2 for Lewis Jetta and Garry Rohan last trade period? I have no issue with your optimism, but your constant false affirmation like "100%", "Nothing is surer", "You heard it here first", is frustrating and misleading.
  12. I've never followed any Melbourne players during the Brownlow over the past few seasons (for obvious reasons) but surely he is in contention this year. As juzzk1d mentioned, more goals would be great, but I'm happy either way. 1. 10/10 2. Yes
  13. Just out of interest, do you have a child? FYI, it's a girl.
  14. A bit of a simplification. Gibson had movement and no swelling. He also participated in a recovery session and felt fine - all of which pointed to a tweak. Paraphrasing Doc Larkins on Ed and Derm, it was a tough one to diagnose (small area which connects near the shoulder and not a lot of signs). He also mentioned the flight was no issue.
  15. What does the author mean by "self-reported"?As in Essendon turned themselves in?
  16. This will be an absolute nightmare. I agree, the architects who thought of the strategy, went down the performance drugs road and administered it should be the ones to be punished: Hird, Thompson, Cocoran, Reid, and Evans Whilst the players shouldn't have been naive, they weren't the ones who orchestrated it. The club has already been hit with a $2m fine but what about WorkSafe, legal costs, and claims from the players (as you mentioned). I would't say a sad day. I'm not happy that 20+ players might face a 2 year suspension, which will most likely end all of their careers, not to mention that a club might fold. But at the same time I'm not sad. If they did cheat, then they should face the repercussions.
  17. I thought it would be interesting to see how many players from 2012 are still with Essendon, with other clubs or not playing anymore: Still with the club Jobe Watson Brent Stanton Leroy Jetta Jason Winderlich David Zaharakis** Courtenay Dempsey Tayte Pears Jake Melksham Michael Hurley Dyson Heppell Jake Carlisle David Myers Alex Browne Ariel Steinberg Cale Hooker Elliott Kavanagh Paddy Ryder Dustin Fletcher Jackson Merrett Kyle Hardingham Nick O'Brien Heath Hocking Ben Howlett Michael Hibberd Tom Bellchambers Lauchlan Dalgleish Mark Baguley Cory Dell'Olio Travis Colyer Playing for other clubs Stewart Crameri – Bulldogs Scott Gumbleton – Fremantle Angus Monfries – Port Adelaide Not playing AFL anymore Ricky Dyson Brent Prismall Mark McVeigh Sam Lonergan David Hille Henry Slattery Luke Davis Alwyn Davey Kyle Reimers Michael Ross Nathan Lovett-Murray Anthony Long I worked out a few things: I have too much spare time on my hands I should really pick up another hobby I heard golf is good, I might try that That is a lot of players still on their list... if even 50% got banned for 2 years the club would be completely stuffed
  18. Heard him on Triple M before and he still won't let up. Lyon called him out and said he got it wrong and Barrett back peddled and is still saying the original verdict was right. Lyon said but it wasn't because he is playing today. I just wished Lyon said: "Damien, was he found guilty - yes or no? The appeal showed the original decision was wrong. That's the end of it" Lets also remember this is the bloke who criticised the club for drafting Tyson, never saw him play and since Tyson's first 20 games has been better than Judd, Ablett, and a few other elites.
  19. Absolutely agree. Its this weekly focus frustrates me. It brings in an element of inconsistency and almost feels like a quota (as in they look for things that aren't really there just to make a point out of it). Just let the umpires run the game like they always have.
  20. With all the drug issues I'd be exploring other options.
  21. The last time we won two in a row was in 2011 in Round 13 and 14 where we defeated Freo by 89 points and Richmond by 27 (respectively) The last time we won three in a row was in 2010 in Round 3, 4 and 5 where we defeated Adelaide by 16 points, Richmond by 55 and Brisbane by 50 (respectively) Unfortunately we lost to Collingwood earlier in Round 2 by only a point. Interestingly the previous time we had won three games in a row was in 2006 and these consecutive wins were all under Dean Bailey
  22. Thanks for asking, Keep in mind it shouldn't have gone to the first hearing anyway. Commentators were saying there was nothing in it, the umpires at the time didn't report it so you'd be forgiven to think this would be an easy issue where the club could rely on less expensive resources... I think the complexity only came after the first hearing.
