Beggars cant be choosers!

Good article. Reflected alot of what I think about some of the players on our list. The whole club is held accountable for their actions but I feel that for too long the players have been given the benefit of the doubt. Time for them to prove why they deserve to be on the list, our support, their wages and most importantly to save their club.

Also wants him to be president too
-
I heard he is going to play for Barwon

Roos is in a good place with his current jobs in the media, expressed he isn't that interested in the MFC, and if he would coach again you can bet he would rather coach at either WCE or Brisbane. Worth a call, but I wouldnt count on it. Eade, whilst he hasnt won a flag, has experience in turning struggling clubs around - got the Bulldogs to finals two years after they were winning only 5 games, let alone getting them to the top 4 on consecutive years. I'd put my money on Eade.

Whats up with the small text?

St Kilda are holding a presser about this this afternoon - should be mentioning if he will be playing this weekend.

....and we already have a thread in this

Light hearted banter? Saying that Neeld losing his job is karma for not giving Moloney captaincy and playing him in the VFL is light hearted banter? Seemed to have alot of venom in it to me. Don't kick someone when their down. It was a dog act and did nothing to strengthen the negative stigma around him. Also did you ever meet Neeld? Ever have a chat to him? He was a hard bloke, frank but polite and wasn't a jackass. He did what the club wanted him to do: get rid of the dead weight and change the lazy culture. Moloney epitomised that when he put himself before the team. Good riddance.

Pretty much said the same things as in his presser, virtually word for word in some instances.

Neeld Sacked with Craig as Interim Coach

It's not impossible and there are some obvious positives, the biggest being that his original role and peronality is well liked. Knows the players well and been on the front line quite a bit (always down on the ground, not in the box). Has had an impressive record and CV. Who knows. Its realistically out of Choko, Eade, Roos and Craig. I'd like Choko but feel that he has had too long out of AFL. He has been coaching at Coburg but got a feeling his best days are behind him. So really, Eade, Roos or Craig. -
To be honest dee-luded the formatting of your posts are starting to make me feel a bit sick - ease up on the italics!

Collingwood under Malthouse in the 2010 premership... whoever their midfield coach is we should get him! Too soon? On a serious note though Geelong. -

What a spud... Doesn't have enough between the ears to realise this does nothing to help his argument - he wasn't captain material: Neeld saw that, and the players saw that. Good riddance.

Neeld Sacked with Craig as Interim Coach
PJ_12345 replied to Satyriconhome's topic in Melbourne Demons
I picked Craig to be intrim over Viney, but didn't think Neeld would get axed so soon. Would have been good to see what he could have done against St Kilda and the Bulldogs but such is life and most people would say he had all season. Ultimately Neeld did what any coach would had to have done: get rid of our dead weight and try to fix the culture. The undoing of his career however was he was too heavy handed when restructuring the list and caused some significant holes in the midfield. I liked his plan of drafting in premership, leaders and experienced players from other clubs for next to nothing to combat our young and inexperienced list and to bring promote a better work ethic culture. However, he grossly underestimated the importance of a midfield, ironic considering he was a midfield coach, and clearly overestimated the fitness and skills of our list. Whoever is going to be appointed next cannot fix this list overnight. The biggest factor of us losing games is our skills and fitness. Simply we dont have the fitness to provide second efforts or chase other clubs who can, and when we do have the ball, its our lack of skill which turns it over - just look at other clubs conversions from our turnovers. Neeld clearly had to create a game plan around this fitness, such as zoning, which was a failure, and unfortunately made some very questionable choices re choosing certain players. Craig will have a free pass for the rest of the season and can focus on getting game experience into the younger kids rather than focusing on trying to save his job like Neeld which is a positive. I'd like to see Couch and Gawn play a few games for example. Thanks for all the hard work you put in Mark and best of luck. -
I like the height. I've been worried our mids are getting too small... Toumpas was a good choice and I'm excited to see what this preseason will do for him, but now the best thing to do is to go for the ready-to-play mid picks.

Misogynist...

PJ has expressed NC is the most and only experienced staff in the club repeatedly so it doesn't sound like he is too keen on getting rid of NC and MN at the same time. 50/50

I saw it coming when I looked into my fire...

It's not their ability to continue with a plan or strategy which is the issue, its the people they backed and chose. Also please show me when the board has blamed the players... seriously please show me. How we got here is due to: Poor recruiting and an inability to capitalise on extra draft pick concessions Adverse culture Unfit/VFL standard players Poor list management resulting in a very weak midfield Poor appointments made by the board Failure of key staff from their end to perform such as DB, CS, and as some people will include MN. We got here because of all these issues and the only way we will get out is through fixing each one - which is clearly underway.

The way I look at our list: Defenders: Ok, if Frawley goes we will have a big issue. Fralwey, Garland, Terlich, Tommy Mac (improving), Pedersen (ok, played a better last game) Fowards: Had a massive hole 18 months ago, now fixed (apart from injuries), and looking good for the future. Clark, Dawes, Howe/Watts, Davey/Byrnes and Hogan (future) Ruck: Has been an issue since White left (god he was good), but need to sort out Seller because I'm struggling to find him in our team next year. Jamar, Fitzpatrick, Gawn. Apart from our midfield our team isn't that bad...
