If Clisby gets more weeks than C. Brown then...
PJ_12345 replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
Brown unsuccessful - 4 weeks. Will miss the last games for his last contracted season. -
[censored] I thought for a long time Roos was holding out for a club in a better state like Brisbane but thought Voss had saved his bacon with that game against Geelong. On another note another same club player/coach gone. Primus last year, Voss this year and possibly Hird?

I met him in 2011 and got the completely opposite impression. He went backwards quite a bit with his football. His chasing got shorter, less competitive, pickier and eventually struggled to play a full game (something which Silvia still does). All that aside, will there be enough room on the list for him with Byrnes, Rodan, Blease and Kent next year? Probably not, but it depends on the next coach. Either way I'd like to see the end of other clubs getting the benefits of our good retired players and would like to see the club have him at some capacity with that kick of his.

Highlight and copy the URL on the site page you would like to link and on the DL post options above the text box click the chain just under the size option. A little box will pop up and paste the URL in the URL section and click ok. If you want to get a bit fancy you can type some thing like an article title "Essendon supplements crisis: live updates", highlight the text (title), then click the chain link button under the size option, past the URL as usual, click ok and presto it will link the text with the page.

On what are you basing your opinion on? I have always got a good impression from Davey. Modest, speaks very highly of team mates and when alot of people wrote him off combined with a lazy culture at the club he was one of the few this year that got back into shape and improved. EDIT: spelling

Brown: 2011 - spent a total of 6 round suspended for two incidents (off ball elbow hit to Callan Ward's face, high contact bump on Barry Hall who's head was over the ball) 2012 - suspended for 6 rounds in his last game for the season, dragged over to 2013 (high front bump on Aidan Riley) 2013 - suspension from 2012 aside now faces 3 round ban (off ball foot contact to James Strauss' face breaking his nose) 3 years, 4 incidents involving opposition's faces and a total of 15 rounds suspended (if he takes this recent offer). If they thought he deliberately hit Strauss' face then he should have got more than 3, particularly considering his history and the fact that it broke Strauss' nose. Almost as much a joke as the commentators who's only reaction was "ouch" then silence and then commended Brown's bump into Trengrove... how about commending Trengrove for holding the tackle despite getting elbowed in the face. -
A+ for trolling D- for using the number 1 to write p.issed off m8

I hate Koshie as much as I hate hearing Barry Hall commentate, slow people in the fast lane, Muse, Carlton, Collingwood, all Carlton and Collingwood supporters, Campbell Brown, people who don't have voice mail so you cant leave a message, people who don't indicate, dumb drivers full stop, the French, overly politically correct people, telemarketers, telemarketers, and that guy from Deal or No Deal and telemarketers.

Lets get Lloyd back from retirement. The thought of Mr Personality sniping Brown again and hearing Lynch commentating...

What about having confidence and standing by a captain who was chosen by the players, has stuck by the club and is clearly a good leader recovering from an injury?
-
Rubbish. You shouldn't be attacking the person trying to fix an issue, but should be attacking the person that created the issue. But heaven forbid someone accuses the players or anyone else not associated with Neeld. If you ever see Misson have a chat with him. Last time I saw him I asked how the program was going and he was brutally honest. The players don't have enough endurance and aren't physically up to standard. Makes it very difficult to fix this as all the improvement has to come from the preseason and if you don't balance weights and endurance well you'll end up like Essendon last year which will also impact their ability to improve their skills during the season.

Blease has gone backwards each year since 2011 - how can he escape criticism?

Didnt get to see the game - how was Davis?

Say what? -
Dunn on Ablett again?
-
Sorry to be a negative nancy but it will be Ablett's 250th game and with Frawley, Evans and most likely Dawes out it doesn't look good.
-
Not really. We spent a priority pick on him and got him for a first round pick at #17 in 2008. Was doing well last year but has gone significantly backwards this year. His effective disposal rate has dropped to around 55% and in terms of averages leads for the least amount of tackles, ranked 31/35 for contested possessions, 28/35 for uncontested possessions, 28/35 for kicks, least amount for handballs, equal last for disposals, second last for marks, 28/34 for clangers, and hasnt taken a contested mark this season. But third last for frees against and top 10 for average goals. Some of the best footy I saw him play this year was when he was up forward but his turnovers absolutely destroyed him and our score... (was against Collingwood and I lost count of their conversions from turnovers). He does get a bit of support from some DLers here and did have a good year last year but we wouldn't get anything for him.

Rodan is there as a sub for Viney and for leadership. I don't mind that. I managed to sneak into the rooms early in the season, again for the Dees v. GCS, about an hour and a bit before the game and there were only three people in there: Viney practicing skills with Rodan (who wasnt playing) and MacKenzie stretching. Rodan cost us almost nothing to get and isnt taking up too much room on our list so I'm happy he is there and providing some good leadership. You hit something important there - if there is enough talent to bring in. That's the whole crux of this issue when looking at players like Bail, Blease, Pedersen, Davey, Magner ect. We don't want to fall in the trap of doing a Neeld fire sale. Three years starting at the start of this season so 2 years to go now if I'm not mistaken.
-
I don't mind him. I think his 3 year contract is a joke, and he got of to an extremely shakey start this season in terms of his contested marks but he has improved. You're spot on in the sense his could be a good defender on a forward ruckman and also leaves us with an option to double tag opposition key forwards. Ie, tag Pedersen and Tommy Mac/Terlich on Cloke. Needs to improve though...

Rumour. Hird to stand down of be sacked

It was in a sense dumb luck. His extremely high offer wasn't initially on the table and was increased significantly at the last moment. A combination of the AFL not wanting GWS to look bad considering the majority of players rejected their offers (such as Thomas ect.) and they wanted to get a more high profile player compared to Ward + an extremely high salary cap which was only partially filled due to GWS having 15+ under 18 year old players on the minimum wage hence his $2m in the first year, and a reduced amount after. Before the last minute increase the only person who would have known if he was going to go was him. We were just all speculating and the amount of private variables (such as his father getting a job at GWS) does make the result dumb luck.
