I was adopting another poster’s suggestion and accept what you say, that it is not a deal that will happen. To put it more succinctly, I would like us to target better players than the ones we have traded for recently. To be fair this off season we have been mentioned in connection to some better players, though at this stage we are looking at Derksen, Heath, Mihocek and hopefully Flanders.

That post, without identifying which ones you feel are pathetic, taints every poster.

A player who dominates VFL games in the midfield, is the type of player teams with poor midfields would look at. Laurie is always in the best players for Casey. Are you saying Laurie is a dud no club would consider? I disagree.

Well a 33 year old, pretty banged up, 192 cm forward is not my first option as a tall forward. Another poster suggested McVee to the Eagles for Jobe Shanahan, in some sort of deal. Maybe we throw in Laurie, who would get a game in the Eagles midfield at the moment. I would do that deal.

There is no way they are letting Elliot go and I haven't seen that Hill wants to go.

That is fair enough, but he was going great in pre season and you can't blame him for an achilles tear. I hope he gets fit, stays fit and we see his best next year and if not it will be his last with us. PS: I am still with you on Jeffo and always have been, but next year will probably be the litmus test. Hope he puts on a bit of muscle, stays fit and we see what he can do. We know he has the talent. With JVR, Kentfield, Petty, Jeffo and maybe AJ, plus Kozzie, Chin, Melk, Fritta and maybe McAdam, we have the players to kick goals

Why would he leave that role with the Cats to take it on with us, other a than heap more money, which I am not sure we have? He is regarded as the best development Coach in the AFL and if did come across with King, it would be a sensational get for us.

That’s what I was getting at Luci, the AFL has some rules different to the general employment marketplace. Tbh they seem pretty fair too, as why should someone be allowed to double up? We have effectively allowed Simon to take a long term employment ,when he was only contracted for 1 more year with us. I am sure there will be some credit given to us on his termination payment, as a result of his new AFL job with the Swans.

Well said Picket. I see Oliver being like Newcombe, getting the ball out to other players from the clearance. He is only 28 and has plenty of footy left in him and we saw signs he is getting back to his best. Get a bit more pace and skill into the side and he becomes even more important, to give us first use of the ball. He loves the club, will have a new Coach and will be really invigorated to get back to being the best contested player we have and one of the best in the AFL. Others may leave, but Clarry stays and is ours. We will be cheering him on next year and for years after.

Danny I think he is doing the right thing honoring his commitment. It should be Geelong that might have reservations not us. Also just to shut McClure up, if the Cats win the GF, we have a 3 time Premiership Assistant Coach, rather than a 1 time one in Bucks.
