Disagree with the embarrassing part for them. They could easily change the narrative that they are a caring and compassionate club and put their players first, when family situations require assistance. No one blames a club for allowing a player to return home for true family reasons. Players and Managers respect that. This stance to me will scare off potential players and even anger BH team mates and is a culture killer. I would not be shocked if BH is traded to us and not surprised if he isn’t. If they do keep him, I hope it is a culture killer for them and scuttles their year.

Well not always, but yes generally that is the fact of the matter. When this is over I think we need to review our whole exit strategies and the way we communicate with players, managers, media and our supporters. Importantly players to be traded and their situations, need to be better managed, in order for us to optimise our returns. At least we are a club that does have compassion for our players and acts in that fashion when required to do so and we should get more credit for that. I am proud that we are a decent and caring club, even though at times it costs us.

I think it’s safe to summarise the Tracc deal as no one on here knows anything and we are all waiting to see what eventuates.

We can probably do that and easier if May leaves. I still think we should have a go at a Giants player, to give Giants salary cap relief so we need to pay less of his contract.

I believe someone confirmed the offer that was made last year and not Morris. We in hindsight made a big blue. A real big one.

I understand the position we are in and that a deal will be done and we can then settle back and wait for the abuse from our supporters and the derision from the media, but such is footy life. Maybe Pert had the better deal and it should have been taken, which I think was a F1st and Cats pay $1m of his salary. Spilt milk now of course.

But it is completely bad faith negotiating to make your first offer and a low ball offer at that, the day before trading closes. Tell them if you can’t afford his salary, we will look at a player swap, to assist your salary cap and save your pick. This is real dirty dealing by them. Tell them the wheel will turn if that is how they operate.

So this only offer, comes effectively on the last day of trading. Giants wait until the last minute to make a low ball offer. This is the club we gave Bedford to. That is not negotiating in good faith.

Surely we are telling him that. We should contact Tracc and his entourage and tell them to tell BH to come out and say he wants trade to us. Tell Tracc if that swap doesn’t happen welcome back. There is no other deal.

The fact that he hasn’t nominated us, but rather going home, is a more genuine request. We are the ones who can make the deal. He can say I am happy to go to the Dees, as you guys want Petracca and there is an obvious deal. On wednesday morning he can ask if the deal is going to be done and if they say no, he can say he will make them regret this and will leave at the first opportunity and his team mates will know how his club has absolutely no compassion.

The parties to the contract would amend it in line with whatever was now agreed between them.

This could turn into a PR disaster for us if we pay a large amount of his salary and get nothing back and he plays good football for the Giants. I think we need to pivot and get into a player, to make salary cap space for the Giants who probably need it and get a player who could help us. At least we then have the chance to come out of this mess with something. Gruzewski, Leek, or one of their running players who can’t get a regular game would be better than the sh-t storm that is coming I fear.

That could be the Suns pushing that to the media. It’s now up to BH and his Manager. If they are not 100% in, it won’t happen.

I suppose if we got Walter, you would look at going after WC pick 2, to get a top kid, by possibly trading JVR back home, using the Clarry pick and maybe adding Woey and Laurie or more picks or some combination of all the above. With Walter, Mihocek, Petty, Kentfield, JVR, AJ and even now Heath, who also plays forward, you would have too many key forwards. However, I don’t see us getting Walter.

As I said, I don’t believe Saints are telling the truth. Giants are making it clear they were happy to negotiate, even with a 2027 pick, which after Tassie raids all the good players, will be pretty useless. They have run out of cap room and absolutely made a mess of this and treated Leek disgustingly as all of the AFL are saying.

Well at least that is a first rounder in a stronger draft, before Tassie joins.

I agree Ted. We say it’s Humphrey or 7 and Walter with nothing back, end of story. We need to put it bluntly, you want our best player, a champion who is contracted. Our Coach actually wants him to stay. You want him, but you don’t want to trade fairly. We tell them our membership wants him to stay. We will get crucified if we do your deal, end of story. We get BH or his manager to tell them you are showing no compassion to him in his difficult family situation. That will cause him to leave you at the first opportunity and he won’t care about you then, as you don’t care about him now. He won’t be able to concentrate on his footy. His team mates and any prospective player will know how you operate. Does that help your culture? Btw our guy is a champion and our best player with all his achievements, BH and Walter are potential, not champions. I would then tell Tracc to go to work with GC as they insulting you and your value. If we don’t get this done as above you are staying. It’s up to you and GC.
