Demons Appoint New Strategy Boss Eventually (Update)
I think we should smash the cr-p out of the Club and Guy, before we know what the role actually is and whether he can do it.

And he can play forward or back.

Fear of hard track so horse scratched. Wonโt be talking to any MRC Committee persons saturday, so no new news.

The New Home Base & Training Ground Thread
The school is not wanting control over the ovals. Fact. The ovals are an MFC project, not a school project, that they know will be built near the MFC facilities, not the school. Fact. That under the banner of community use, they may get some limited use, when not needed by the primary user the MFC. Fact. Over and out.

If he can reproduce consistently the form he showed in the practice game where he got injured, we will have another very good player.

No you missed the point, we donโt get the ovals and possibly the facility area, unless we demonstrate community use. So we need someone like the school or other schools or the community to also use the ovals. Therefore the school is HELPING US get the project completed.

You do understand that we are looking to use Crown Land, which is usually meant for community use, not solely for a Professional AFL club, to the exclusion of the community. The school are working hand in hand with us and supporting each other and just maybe a small use by the school of the ovals, when not used by the MFC, is the catalyst for the Trust and Government to approve and contribute to the project, because of some COMMUNITY use. With the President saying we are really close, but are unable to announce it yet, I would think is a clear indication it is proceeding, but that the timing of the announcement is not ours to choose. I am as keen and impatient as all Demon fans for this to happen and am choosing to be positive not negative. I have a personal stake in this, as I want to start my retirement, knowing that I can walk to training and watch my beloved team train, in the company of like minded Demon fans and then maybe continue the discussion over a coffee or beer at the nearest provider. Exercise, refreshment, Demon training engagement, the occasional hug from Ghosty and MFC discussion, will be a great start for Redleg, filling in the non working days. Hopefully I can add more tomorrow, if I get to speak to any MRC committee persons who are happy to discuss the topic.

Farewell Clayton Oliver
I also have Kaddari in race 3 at Yarra Valley today, but I am not a betting man, so I will watch my horses and Clarry go around, with no betting on their performances.

Was a nice horse that got an injury and hasnโt been the same since. Also likes wet tracks and that looks unlikely. I will try and find out more about us at Caulfield from any MRC committee persons I can find.

Yep, sort of like Goodyโs role Coaching Dean Cox and far lesser tennis players coaching the best players in the world like Nadal, Federer and Djokovic.

From Herald Sun today. President Steven Smith said a new facility remained โa top priority for usโ and the club was โreally closeโ to being able to make an announcement on that front. Melbourne has been eyeing a $100 million high-performance and administration facility, which would be built on land within the Caulfield Racecourse Reserve and feature two training ovals. A feasibility study on the site began in December 2023, with a business case now expected to be handed down early in the new year.

What, we make them work on Boxing Day?

I am happy with those two. We can try again for BH next year, but I would be just as happy drafting two more good kids and saving the millions. Another Langford and Lindsay would be a great addition to our revamping list.

Well that could help with getting more sponsorship which will help the bottom line and provide some more money for Caulfield. Btw I have a horse running there on Saturday, so will try and get a bit of info from MRC Committee persons.

It also doesnโt help when you are paying out contracts to ex Coaches, injured players, players who have gone to other clubs, ex Officials and a host of other issues that cost money not to mention decreased revenue due to things like smaller membership, missing finals, less sponsorship etc, etc, etc. Clubs run as businesses and businesses have different financial results, due to a number of factors, some preventable, some not, each year.

The New Home Base & Training Ground Thread
Probably/possibly, but we had Kate Roffey on the Board for years, who was the Political guru and Pert who wasn't a football novice and no Training base and how did they both end their time at the MFC? I think the old adage of "you can always do better" applies and that our Board could be improved, but I actually couldn't name 5 Board members today, so I leave it to others who know more about the Directors to comment on the Board.

I think the words about our Vice President learning to deal with Politics says a lot about the slowness of the process. We have been very patient and a bit more patience is needed and to me even the fact we are discounting Waverley for a short term fix, points to not wasting money and effort, when we are close to getting Caulfield for the long term.
-
The New Home Base & Training Ground Thread
Well we did get an update, we are now really close. I agree it was disappointing. It was unbelievable that no one asked a question about it.

The New Home Base & Training Ground Thread
Well the President did say "we are really close and we will share more as soon as we are able to." I guess that means that we are not allowed to announce anything yet and I assume that is because one of the stakeholders has told us not to. Caulfield will happen and it will just need a bit more patience before it is officially announced. It is disappointing though that the President couldn't elaborate a bit more, without making an official announcement. I am as frustrated at that as everyone else on here.
