  1. Sammy should be concentrating on avoiding the North - Footscray merger. I reckon it might raise its head soon if they both dont win finals. Not that we are safe:) If they did combine they would still have less combined members than Hawthorn, but they MAYBE could play boutique (<50,000) out of the Western oval. Im sure they both would see merit to be able to get away from the clutches of Etihad and little chance of premierships.
  2. "Its the emblem of the Town we love" would be my only concession
  3. Just because the umpires were consistent in not paying frees doesnt mean they did a good job. The wireless says only 14 frees were paid all night. I dont really care that Carlton were ripped off and my dislike for the Scott twins is double my distaste of Malthouse, the umpiring this year has gone quickly to ratsh1t. Wayne Campbell is struggling. I thought Malthouse was right in particular to bring up the Nigel Lappin incident, trainers should be nailed much more for interfering, and if I ran the world they would only be allowed on after goals are registered and need to be off before the bounce.
  4. Yes he is a Bannerman! All things being equal he should be currently in Sheahans top 50.
  5. I have been guilty of having a go at Grimes earlier this season. I had no rose coloured glasses. But now Im so rapt that others have stepped up all around him, I just hope he stays uninjured and things go right for him. I accept he is possibly going through a tough time and am happy to wait. Smell the roses.
  6. Good Luck Alistair. Has set the standard for coaching in the last few years. Just went by Alan Jeans as Hawks 2nd longest coach too.
  7. I watched Gary Ablett Snr a lot. Ive never seen anybody see a kick and head down charge to where it would land. He did it every game.
  8. Anyone throwing Rory Sloanes name into the ring can forget it. Why would he come back when his parents just moved from Upwey to Glenelg?
  9. I agree (belatedly) with the master. Its hard being Jack as he suffers from nerves. In the 1st 3 qtrs if he took a mark he would go back and take his kick. Itseemed he was wary of playing on, into the arms and face of a player on his arse. Last quarter he did what the team does and play on unconditionally and it lifted me and my mates(who had agreed with my comment). It seemed to be a team lifter too.

My hands up. I waited to see light this year. All good now.
  11. I believe Grimes is a better kick when doesnt deliberate. When he tries to finesse a kick, he drops the ball too late almost laying onto his boot, and loses depth and power, making it float and loses accuracy. He seems to have a better drop when he just bangs it onto the foot. If Im right it may be cleaned up easily. I also think Jack Watts is so much better when he plays on. In the 1st half on Suturday when he took a mark, he didnt play on as if he was worried someone was coming the other way. It slowed us down. I think a couple of Tiger players noticed. After 3 quarter time he came out, grabbed it and played on and was on fire. I may be wrong but all 3 of us sitting together noticed it.
  12. Luke Ball averaged 98% in HSC. So did Stephan Martin IIRC. It seems Luke Ball to me, if I had to guess.
  13. Im a demons supporter in a bombers family (not one member). Id be sorry for my dear old mum, but Im rewatching Fred Astaire movies. Oh Im putting on my Top Hat, Buttoning my White Tie, Putting on my Tails. Let the tap dancing begin.
  14. As my young colleague likse to say "this shits gunna get real".
  15. We need to kick lower and harder. The Bulldogs did. It looked in the 1st half like we didnt want to make it to difficult to mark. Plenty of balls were easily cut off by slow ball movement. It seemed to stop after half time. Watts IS slow. It seemed he often wanted to celebrate some-ones goal and Frawley or Dawes would tell him to settle and keep concentrating. When he does concentrate he is not tentative.
  16. I was intrigued when I saw the jury panel. I tried to get in the 1sts with the Essex Heights under 14s where Emmett Dunne was the outstanding star and looked as good as Geoff Raines. He grew tall and I followed his career as he seemed to simultaneously lose that early gloss, became a total spud and then a cop. Bad show. He is the type that would have a guilty verdict, just his go. Will probably run the cops in Victoria. Moose Henwood I had a couple of kick sessions with and he was the most disappointing ex AFL/VFL player (swans, demons) Ive come across, couldnt mark, run or kick. Seriously. He was tough and I never got anywhere near his level playing competition but he was only late 30's and I felt sorry for his lack of skills. I fervently hope he reads this. He doesn't deserve to be on any panel. The only glamour in that was Shimma who was fantastic, never say die and my only knock on him is that RDB picked him instead of Rob Flower as his favorite wingman. Ive got love for Shimma after what Ron Casey did to him. But fack him too. So this panel is now shamed IMO. Im happy with that outcome.
  17. Cant believe only 100 take out membership! wow.
  18. I agree BB. I dont think the Tribunal came up with the guilty judgement. It may have come down from the new CEO.
  19. Yes it sounds like it lacks the depth required. I would have thought more information has come to light with either injuries being on the other side or (hopefully) Lynch releasing a statement saying he thought he was pushed by Georgiou into Viney. Saying they dont have a clue may not be best practice.
  20. It was a get up for gigs. Never did they intend to let him go.
  21. If its your job to offer a contrary view, you cant say "too hard, I got nothin'"
