How good Clark is as a Tall Forward when fit is not in dispute. Its obvious (to me) he is having a bad pre-season and wont be ready to go Round one. Its too fanciful to think Paul Roos is keeping all our Talls "under wraps" to unleash them on an unsuspecting AFL. Yet it seems there are those that think this is the story. I believe Dawes and Clark are again or still (you choose) injured. Most Magpie supporters say Dawes is always injured and only had one good year. I have no faith in either their ability to be injury free or Melbournes ability to get them to put niggles behind them and play to win round one. -
Im surprised how many people think there will be more than a 10% improvement under Roos. Footballers are like sausages, you can fry them, grill them, bake them, theyre still footballers. Allan Jeans The other issue I have is that nearly every other team is expecting a better year than last year. Exceptions maybe Saints and Lions. So we may need a 15 - 20% improvement to look like a real genesis. If we can beat the Saints round one I, dont care if we lose the next 7 or 8. So to do that we need our best side on the park. We have paid $100,000 a game to Clark so far. GWS have better value out of Scully. My message to MFC, is get him and Dawes on the ground for this game even if 90% fit.

So how bad does that make the selection committee? You cant really have a go at someone who accepts a challenge in the work force that hind sight tells us was not the right fit/achievable. When standing next to Mick Malthouse and telling the MFC representative on the phone that they need to confirm his appointment because he has another offer, I cant really blame him.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BERNIE VINCE

I'm doubtful. I was thrilled when we got RDB back in 1980. We had come from a bad 10 years and with peter Moore and kelvin templeton signing on we had just what was needed to make the 4. I think we won one game but I may be wrong. Those days still sting. I hold bad feelings for who ever checked templetons bad knee. So I'm jaded from false starts. Luckily we enlisted slug Jordan and my thrills came more from the under 19s and then the reserves, the kids finally blooming under Northey. I will wait and see. Hope springs but not eternally. -

I don't think comparing col Sylvia to nat jones is fair. He seems to be doing well despite his environment. Most players whom have left us after bailey especially, have struggled with fitness at other clubs. Rivers hasn't but plays in a position that doesn't need elite fitness and was never a good trainer at Melbourne. And to be honest we got about as much out of col as we have out of watts grimes and Trengove IMO. Or are we still waiting for them as well? -

I don't get the hope he fails. He could have done better but he also had bad luck injury wise and was here when we were in our cups. Good luck Col. -

When I heard on the radio AD telling Neil Mitchell that he would go to his grave knowing Essendeon nor the AFL were paying Hird, I was certain he was not lying. Shifty work was then done to ensure he got a wage. That was done in an underhand manner outside the scope of the penalty AD and Essendon agreed to. This does not make AD collateral damage in my view. It would be unfair to a reasonable person for him to be part of the fallout. The same reasoning should apply to Chris Connelly. I dont exactly know what he did wrong and he got whacked. It was not a "fair whack" to me and Im a reasonable person. He may be doing the right thing but was the right thing done to him? Not in my book. -
I think after 2 wins and 54%, 6 wins is fair, even if it is "Low". I want to avoid the 3/4 time rush. Thats my game plan, to stay to the end more often and hope they arent all bitter ends.
-
No. I thought it was funny the 1st time I read it.

I want to see two things. 1) A game plan that suits whoever we play that week. So we need fresh game plans depending on how we are going, and on our perception of whom we are about to play. 2) The ability to change/adapt game plans at 1/4 or 1/2 time.

Name 3 players you are keen to see in 2014 and why

Tyson - Im expecting he will be rusty and am really looking forward to assessing him after 8 or so games. An unknown Quantity. Hogan - He seems to be getting even better after finishing off 2013 really well. Im hoping he can mark high on the lead as I think he will be needing to do this more against the highly experienced back men he is about to face. I know I shouldnt be comparing him to Plugger but ..... Exciting! Fitz - he has been in the pack for a couple of years and now is unshackled into the final straight. I hope he is still improving. A dark horse, he always shows bits of excellence. My roughie. There are many who have not had the chance or have been hampered by injury who I hope to have good years. I dont expect much improvement from Trengove, Blease or Strauss. I think they are struggling unfortunately. -
Who are the ferals again? I need a glossary.

When I see posters continuing to use terms such as Essendrug, The Poos, Carlscum etc.. it makes me think that they dont mix in society at all. Sad.

I try to understand the process and latest developments and Rhino's post makes interesting points. Then along comes 'Bub (it didnt stop him) with half a dozen outraged and confident posts full of Pi$$ and wind. Please put a sock in it.

I dont understand why the media would be asking an employer if some-one "on leave" is being paid by some other entity. If I took a year off without pay, and 3AW wanted to know from my boss if I was being paid from another party, its not either of their business to know WTF Im up to.

Thanks for the info guys.

Emma Quayle right on the money so far.

My mate coaches Rohan Connolly son in Soccer. He says he just starts laughing at MFC each time the subject comes up (this was during Neelds reign) He says we are just such a joke etc. I know Rohan had to give up live media especially TV because it made him too nervous. It upsets him as he thinks he could be the next caroline. I really hate the pr!ck as he is blind to Essendon and absolutely(Im told) has it in for us.

The money we saved from Scully we threw at Mitch Clarke who so far has been paid $100,000 per game he has played for us. Is he as expensive as Scully? Is he better? He isnt a star. He may become one but the clocks ticking. The picks we received we turned into Hogan and were able to get Viney cheap. Yes they may be stars oneday but its little soon to say how well we have done. I dont like Tom Scully but my deep displeasure is saved for lazy arrogant smart alecs like Cam Schwab and Barry Prendergast.
