  1. That's the spirit MM. Big Jimma will regard these setbacks as an important challenge for our players and coaching staff, and I reckon we should all take a leaf out of that book. If we continue to play in the vein of last Sunday the next month has some winnable games.
  2. Many thanks for the report KC........... excellent as usual! Do you have any insights on how Jordie McK. and Robbie Campbell went in the twos?
  3. Agree totally with that. Rush's ruckwork over the last two seasons has been outstanding, and he and Beamer are continuing to build a brilliant understanding. Some of their work yesterday was out of the textbook.
  4. 6. Moloney 5. Trengove 4. Jamar 3. Sylvia 2. Petterd 1. Maric Honourable mentions to all the rest (unlike last week, they all had a fair dinkum dip).
  5. Wrong on almost every fact. Unbelievable!
  6. I remember it vividly. After all these years it still brings a tear to my eye. Norm was a shattered man.
  7. Awarded for effort only. Sadly, we widn't have a single winner on the night. 6. Garland - Battled manfully. The best of our overwhelmed defenders, but several costly clangers. 5. Jamar - Worked hard but was one-out against two or three all night. 4. Watts - Good work rate including a couple of strong marks. Encouraging, but looked 'lost' on occasions. 3. Jones - Worked hard, but the usual flaws were evident 2. Trengove - Worked hard against the odds of a dominant WC midfield 1. Bail - Earned his place, particularly in the first half.
  8. No way! There's no room at Melbourne for 'list cloggers'.
  9. A great 'rags to riches' story and a fantastic fella to boot. Well done Rush, I look forward to your next 100, and a Flag thrown in would be just reward.
  10. Exactly! Not an issue for me, and I'm sure the stripes would have made it easier for players on both sides.
  11. Of course I did HT. And I promise you, Bail's post match comments about the trying playing conditions were spot on. Being from Canberra, I found the the 80%+ humidity very demanding, and I really felt for our boys out there.
  12. A hundred or so 'Demon diehards' went to the open training session at the Gabba on Saturday afternoon. It was an excellent initiave by the Club, with both Chris Connolly and Bails taking time to chat and take questions from those in attendance, and all the players being available at the end for autographs, photos and a chat. Somebody in the 'audience' asked CC the inevitable question about Tom Scully and the continuing GWS rumours, and Chris responded that Melbourne would not be able to compete with GWS on financial terms (which, of course, we all knew). But Chris added a couple of points which I hadn't heard before, and I thought were worth sharing. The first was that Gary Lyon is personally mentoring Tom this year; and the second was that Melbourne are, or are looking to (not sure which) providing some sort of educational support / assistance to Tom and / or his family. Having heard previously that Tom has very strong ties with his family, I thought that the latter point was particularly significant. Of course, another point that Chris made was that he hoped that close mateship at a Club with a seemingly rosy playing future would be a strong influence in Tom deciding to re-sign with the Dees.
  13. 6 - Moloney 5 - Trengove 4 - Bail 3 - Jamar 2 - Green 1 - Morton
  14. 6. Moloney 5. Jamar 4. Rivers 3. Jurrah 2. Gysberts 1. Jones
  15. That wouldn't surprise me at all. Really surprised to see Ricky omitted .... he was a key to us salvaging a draw against the Swans.
  16. Named on HBF for Casey 2s this w'end. Damn!
  17. My bench would be Petterd, Watts, Dunn and a very lucky Jones. Unlike last week's bench, I think all four could come on and have a genuine impact as sub, but Jones is less versatile IMO. My sub would be Dunn. I think Morton will get a run at Casey before he gets a call up for senior action.
  18. Exactly Grandson. If I recall correctly, they both acknowledge that they may not have even been around to tell their stories if it hadn't been for the support provided by their respective wives. Continue the fight Daniel.
  19. 6. Bail 5. Tapscott 4. Rivers 3. Sylvia 2. Martin 1. God Knows!!
  20. 32,557 and growing!
  21. 'Catch & cuddle' ........ what are those back rowers sniffing in the scrums?
  22. If we can play with the intensity shown by Richmond for 100 mins. we will beat the dawks.
  23. I think Barty's pace and tackling pressure will keep him in the lineup for a while. His pace and endurance are needed to match it with small agile forwards. Also, I think that for the time being at least, Tappy's kicking skills are more valuable up the ground.
