  1. If we can play with the intensity shown by Richmond for 100 mins. we will beat the dawks.
  2. I think Barty's pace and tackling pressure will keep him in the lineup for a while. His pace and endurance are needed to match it with small agile forwards. Also, I think that for the time being at least, Tappy's kicking skills are more valuable up the ground.
  3. Thanks KC. I note that there's no Fevola. Does this mean that the list is still to be finalised, or have I missed something?
  4. ........ and deceptively agile for a tall. There were a couple of examples against the Swans where he was able to side-step an opponent and get an effective kick away.
  5. I'd be interested in your thoughts HT. Given that you have Riv. listed in defence, I can't think who else would make way for Chip without upsetting team balance.
  6. I agree. When he does things instictively (usually a tap on, or quick give by hand) he oozes class. However, when he has a bit more time he seems to be less decisive. Maybe it's a confidence thing, maybe its an experience thing, but lost seconds through hesitation are holding him back atm.
  7. Not a major infringement, but none-the-less a timely reminder to Col to toe the line.
  8. 6. Moloney 5. Trengove 4. Jamar 3. Martin 2. Garland 1. Tapscott
  9. ....... or tries to burst through an opening that doesn't exist. Hmm. I'd like to see that nickname used far less frequently in 2011, and this has nothing to do with a distaste for blasphemy.
  10. Thanks for that dr. Like Roost, I havn't seen Tappy play, but I'm quite enthused about his prospects based on observations like yours, and recent comments from CC.
  11. I agree with most of your observations, but this one strikes me as unfair. R.2 2010 was only Scully's second game at the top level, and most observers acknowledge that he got better as the season progressed. IMO his kicking became less rushed, and definitely improved over the season. There is still room for improvement, but it is unreasonable to state that he is the worst kick at the Club. By the way, he also dropped a couple of straight-forward chest marks in that match .... again, more to do IMO with his inexperience playing against men, than fundamental flaws in his skill-set.
  12. The Sydney squad for anyone who is interested: B: P.Bevan, T.Richards, M.Mattner HB: R.Shaw, H.Grundy, A.Everitt C: D.Hannebery, K.Jack, N.Smith HF: L.Jetta, A.Goodes, B.McGlynn F: R.O'Keefe, S.Reid, J.White Foll: S.Mumford, J.Kennedy, J.McVeigh Interchange from: J.Bolton, T.Dennis-Lane, B.Meredith, J.Moore, G.Rohan, M.Seaby, B.Sumner New: B.Sumner (Debut if in final team) A.Everitt (Sydney Swans Debut)
  13. Maybe a bit of extra motivation for the Swans? They'll need more than that IMO.
  14. This is my crack at it B. Bartram, Warnock, MacDonald HB. Bail, Rivers, Garland C. Davey, Sylvia, Bennell HF. Petterd, Watts, Dunn (if fit) F. Maric, Green, Jurrah R. Jamar, Moloney, Grimes Inter. Jones, Jetta, Trengove (if fit) Sub. Martin Emerg. Bate, Wonaeamirri, Gysberts Warnock our best bet at FB in the absence of Frawley. Martin in reserve if he's getting smashed. Grimes to midfield to bolster depleted stocks in that area. Dunn to man Goodes if/when he is part of their mid-field rotation. His HF role to be taken by one of our mids if this eventuates. Garland to man Goodes if/when he has stints in their fwd. half. Martin our best sub. option because he is our most versatile tall. Assuming he is not needed elsewhere, he comes on mid 3rd. term to give Jamar decent breaks away from the heat of action. Bail to HBF to work O'Keefe over, similar to what Bruce did last year. If Dunn is not fit, include Wanna to maintain forward pressure, and provide an alternate goalkicking option. If Trengove is unavailable, include Gysberts as an alternate mid.
  15. My recollection is that Bruce had probably his best for the year....... slaughtered O'Keefe. Grimes and Moloney were other absentees from our lineup. Edit:spelling
  16. Yep. Exactly that problem. Infrequent, maybe 3 or 4 times in the last week and a bit.
  17. The following quote is from Brad Green in the MFC site, in relation to Chip and Morton: "James has been told he can play round two, so at least neither of them are going to miss huge chunks of the season, and that's great," Green said.
  18. Keep it up Jimmy ..... an inspiration to us all. Let's hope for some similar news in due course about your old mate Sean.
  19. David King on tonights AFL360, nominated Addam Maric as one of his top 5 Supercoach picks for 2011. This was strongly supported by Mark Robinson.
  20. Yep, but on reflection I think it was reported out of context.
  21. I know it would be robbing Peter to pay Paul, but is Grimes a possibility? Judging from the MB commentaty, he was our best by far tonight.
  22. Horrible, horrible news. All the very best Sean - fight this with the same spirit and determination that you showed on the footy field.
  23. This is what Ball Movement coach Mark Williams wrote about Jack on the MFC website a couple of months ago: "Jack is now entering his third season, but he was pretty young in his first two years. He has gained a lot of knowledge over the journey so far, and we just need to make sure Jack continues to train well and sticks to his routine. He needs to continue to prepare himself well with everything, including diet and sleep, so we can see the best of him in 2011." I was intrigued by these comments when I first read them, and I can't help but wonder whether Jack's 'form' has anything to do with sticking to the 'routine' mentioned by Mark.
