  1. If Todd Viney has anything to do with it I reckon they will. Well done Jordie .......a true Demon.
  2. From reports, he seemed to make a modicum of progress on some aspects of his game at Casey in 2010 (defensive pressure, tackling) but he certainly needed to. Can't honestly say that he has earned a spot on our rookie list for next year, but circumstances may see him retained as a backup tall forward / ruck option. Incredibly lucky if he gets another year, but some people seem to be blessed with lots of good fortune.
  3. Living in Canberra I have very little to base an opinion on, but I'm encouraged by some of the positive vibes that have emanated from this place over the last 12 months. I just hope that he has an uninterrupted pre-season, so that we can all see what he has to offer in 2011.
  4. I have a suspicion that he might have, rpfc.
  5. Me too, but I'd also like to see him given an opportunity to settle into a position. He plays more like a defender, but there's not much room for tall defenders at Melbourne at the present time.
  6. Do we know if he intends nominating for the drafts? Could be a good pick-up for the Dees, but on reflection, a bloke named Trengove might keep him out of our best 22.
  7. What a fascinating thread .... can't wait for the draft!
  8. Aussie has the potential to play a significant part in our future, if he can get his body right, and become fully match fit.
  9. Agree with that 25. Tom is still young, and to some extent, injuries have interrupted his development during his short career. IMO he's shown enough to warrant a one year 'lifeline' on the rookie list, a la Danny Hughes in some ways. It may, or may not work out, but has more chance of succeeding than punting on a 100:1 shot late in a compromised rookie draft.
  10. Brilliant news in every way. As an aside, I can't help thinking what a bit of Todd's influence might have on Jordie McKenzie's progress over the next year or so. The way Jordie plays has always reminded me of a young Todd.
  11. Rubbish!! Is it intended that the stars be dated to show that our last Flag was in 1964? Of course not! All Melbourne supporters should be extremely proud of our 12 premierships, regardless of when they were won. We currently sit fourth for Premierships won in the history of the VFL / AFL, and it won't be long before we add another star or two. We have a rich history ............ let's show everyone that we are proud of it.
  12. The Saints have recently delisted former Tiger Adam Pattison. Played 5 games with the StKilda this year after 61 (and 15 goals) with Richmond in 5 seasons. 197cm and 99kg. KPP and p/time ruckman. Originally drafted at pick 16 in the 2004 ND. I don't recall much about him, but he can't have made much of an impression at StKilda to be delisted after only one year, although they do have a few talls. Is he any better than PJ?
  13. Good outcome all round. Fetta was never going to hold down a regular spot in our best 22, and he now gets an opportunity to do so at another club. Good luck to him.
  14. Great summary Akum. I have great respect and the utmost confidence in our Football Dept.
  15. No thanks. His lack of consistency and errant decision making are worries for me.
  16. Not being televised. Refer to MFC site for further details.
  17. Hawthorn have said that they have Hale, Hill and a 'mystery' defender (not Tarrant) in their sights. I wonder if Warnock is the mystery man. Maybe he could he be worked into a three way deal which has Hale ending up at Melbourne, Warnock at Hawthorn and Hawthorn's GC compensation pick at NM? I'd be very happy with that.
  18. Demonland .... the football 'lifeblood' of all interstate Demons. Great work guys.
  19. The following quote is from Tim Harrington in relation to this year's Trade Week: “We have to bring in people who we think are coachable, dependable and talented. They also need to fill a need."From what I understand, Carl Peterson may not meet all of these criteria.
  20. Which is exactly why there will never be a level playing field in the AFL with the likes of Essendon, Collingwood and Carlton having the big $s........ but I'd still prefer to do it the Melbourne way. The taste of victory, when it comes, will be so much sweeter!
  21. Really loved Dunny's step-up in 2010. IMO he was an important factor in our improvement. With our emerging talent, he will need to at least maintain the form he displayed in the latter half of the year to make a regular senior spot of his own in 2011.
  22. Just love Ricky's courage, strength and recent goal kicking prowess. Seems to have found his niche in the forward half, and was sorely missed after round 6. Will add another dimension to our forward set-up in 2011, and be an important factor in the potential match-up dilemma that will confront opposition coaches.
  23. Agree that Jack's future looks very bright indeed if he can get his body right. Does anybody know whether there is any connection between the back problems he suffered earlier in his career and his more recent hamstring problem. The possibility that they might be related is something that has concerned me for a while.
  24. It's a pleasure when the colliwobbles set in in September!
  25. Can't argue with that 'Bub, and I don't think I've heard or read of anyone disputing his selection ......... and what's more, I reckon he's a solid prospect to receive the honour many times over.
