  1. I think you've hit the nail on the head. Had the team made the finals, there would have been little or no disquiet and even our financial problems would have melted away into the night. Remember, it was our horrific run of losses in the first couple of games this year that brought so much negativity around the club and together with South China Airlines dropping out of a proposed multi million dollar sponsorship (possibly as a result) that led to drastically revised budgets, the resignations of board members and the CEO and the subsequent AFL takeover.
  2. Point well made BH. Whatever the training regimen it was that the players were undergoing it wasn't so much the physical nature of the work the players were doing that brought Neeld unstuck, it was his failure to get the entire group behind him. This was mainly his fault but no doubt depended on the brief given from up above and also, he was initiated in turbulent times with many well documented storms hitting him and the club during his tenure as coach.
  3. Toumpas had two hip operations before he was drafted last year. I think most knew about this but I doubt that we understood the implications on his form going into his first season. Should be a revelation in 2014.
  4. How did it reflect a "Demon shambles" narrative Tommy Tea?The AFL created the rules, made sure that it was completely impossible for us to come close to matching the GWS offer by even thwarting our chances of setting up a third party deal and then decided the so called "compensation" which has resulted in our reaping the benefit two years down the track and four years after we drafted the little sh[censored]. We are no more a shambles than Geelong who couldn't keep Ablett or Hawthorn with Buddy. In fact, our compo for the little tu[censored] was better than they both got.
  5. There were about five or six midfielders at GWS (including Adams and Tyson who are now gone) who were better and harder at the football than Scully over the past two years. Connolly wouldn't have the foggiest.
  6. I think you'll find that's exactly what WJ was saying. FYI, McLardy was President for little more than one of those 10 years during which a lot of schyzenhausen happened at the club that was unexpected and unusual - Jimmy's passing, Jurrah, the sponsorship fiasco, the lies about Neeld and racism, the tanking investigation and a substantial amount of sniping from the penny section. Hard to do your job with that in the foreground.
  7. Tiwi Bombers 22.11 (143) defeated Central Australia 20.14 (134) in a great game at TIO Stadium this afternoon/evening. Liam Jurrah kicked six and Roy Kantilla with five.
  8. Really? Can you give us some specific detail as to what he was turning a blind eye to?
  9. If this happened while Schwab was running the show there would be hell to pay. No worries for Teflon Jackson and the bosses at the AFL. ... When does accountability start?
  10. So let me get this right, if we would held back the announcement that we had appointed Paul Roos then we would have been more likely to get a priority pick? These guys are crazy.
  11. I wonder how Whateley deals with this - http://m.theaustralian.com.au/sport/afl/asada-ready-with-lifetime-sport-bans/story-fnca0u4y-1226722374126
  12. Thanks. I was also right on the money when I said you don't know and you've confirmed that as well. Cheers
  13. Those posts are only clear insofar as they establish a complete straw man in view of the criteria the AFL Commission are supposed to be considering but I'm sure you'll bat on and on pushing irrelevant arguments as you are prone to do.
  14. I don't know what they did and neither do you.
  15. Caro hasn't left much wriggle room now for the eventuality if Martin and Richmond kiss and make up. If that happens now the board would have to be condemned by all and sundry for making a monumental mistake.
  16. When Buddy Franklin goes to GWS (and he will) the other AFL clubs should rally against any attempt by the AFL to compensate the Hawks.
  17. Agreed but it would be great if we got an early priority pick (lord knows we're bad enough to deserve one). That way we could trade one of the early picks for a good, sound midfielder. We would still have one high pick to get an Aish and part of the trade could see us get a lower first round pick to snare a good, strong bodied mid whose type usually goes between picks 10 & 20.
