  1. As WJ wrote, blokes like RDB won't come again ... but we have a combination of youngsters like Jack Viney, Jesse Hogan, Clayton Oliver, Angus Brayshaw and, ahem ... Christian Petracca who together might revive that spirit at this club.
  2. I still think it was Howe's management that gave him a bum steer, spending most of last year manoevring for a better contract price than what he was worth. I think in the end he's on about what we offered and now finds himself at a club in turmoil. And we have Ben Kennedy.
  3. Agree with that. Being in Casey's best players three weeks in a row isn't enough. He has to conquer suburbia first before making it to the bright lights of Broadway. On the other hand, I reckon one of Rooey and Joey will play next week if not both.
  4. Among his many talents, Dank can now claim to be the invisible man. Turned up to every training session for four months and nobody ever saw him, never got paid and the bloke who was supposed to have given him the gig knows nothing about it. On top of that, his credibility has been found by judges to be in question. And we still have muppets around here giving him the time of day. Go figure?
  5. I've already had a gutful of this story. When is he due to be deported?
  6. Because it's not about the next 176cm midfielder who averages 30 possessions but rather, about the next unheralded player who lifts his game to new heights. On that basis, it might be Max King.
  7. "Recent media coverage that the Melbourne Demons are set to be given the flick from the NT is both inaccurate and ill-informed,” Mr Barrett said." Thank god for that because I'll be there for our first NT game on 28 May against Port Adelaide.
  8. goodoil has provided good oil on recruiting info on DL over a number of years credibility
  9. Ever considered that you probably "heard" wrong. Toumpas was considered by the pundits as next best behind Whitfield. Wines was thought to be outside the top five and that's exactly where he was picked. Todd Viney was one of the recruiting team who vindicated the selection of Toump on that basis and the club was said to be delighted on the day with their selection. The stories that circulated otherwise began when Wines made such an impressive start to his career while Jimmy's start was hampered by his hip surgery.
  10. Two cases in court this week involving Bummers and no significant cross examination getting to the nub of the saga. Dank should get rolled easily in his defamation case, surely? Can he prove that he had a good reputation to uphold?
  11. You would think that anyone who didn't play yesterday would not be likely starters next weekend.
  12. Surely, Foxtel must put on a special edition of AFL360 for the final verdict?
  13. The only game we're setting ourselves up for is Round 1 v GWS, nothing else.
  14. Redleg, you should be up on the Gold Coast for the Magic Millions, not Port Adelaide.
  15. I hope he's not as self-conscious about the carrot top as Matty Bate. Anyone remember when he dyed his hair brown?
  16. I was looking recently at the list of newcomers the club has taken on board for the coming season and noted that Melbourne has nine players (including two rookies) who have yet to play any games of AFL:- Liam Hulett, Jayden Hunt, Max King, Mitch King, Clayton Oliver, Christian Petracca, Joel Smith (r), Josh Wagner and Sam Weideman In addition Tomas Bugg, Ben Kennedy and Jake Melksham have AFL experience but not with the Demons. There's no race involved here but I've always considered that Petracca would be the first of the list players to break through for a debut AFL game but, based on reports I've heard and read from training, it wouldn't surprise if Clayton Oliver gave him a run for his money. Anyone else feel the same?
  17. The beauty of the way things are being done under Roos is that unless he shows in the preseason that he has ironed out the weaknesses that you perceive he has, Parish won't be under pressure to perform at the highest level immediately (unlike Toumpas who was probably brought in too early because we had few viable options). Roos and McCartney will make sure that he's ready when the time comes and not necessarily in round 1 of his first season.
  18. So how come he's contracted for next year?
  19. Sidebottom had a teammate at TAC Cup level who tested even worse. Slow as the proverbial and didn't get drafted in the ND. Tom Rockliff went in PSD.
  20. Sounds good - you then send all three picks to GWS for pick 8 and Tom Bugg. Win/win for all because the three picks are worth more than 8 under the bidding system.
  21. Off Facebook FWIW "Danger is deciding between Cats & Dees, Crows want Dees offer accepted, unsure on exact details of what the crows get from Dees but Dangers partner wants him to take the Dees offer"
  22. If he's a free agent then he can walk but he has to get an offer first. I assume then that the silence surrounding him is all about whether there's interest from other clubs and whether we would be prepared to match an offer if one is forthcoming.
  23. Getting back on topic (if that's allowed), here's an interesting you tube about Prestia http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtTzTPDbMns&sns=em
