  1. This should be the end of the current story on the question of the legal position. Those who don't consider the legalities matter are on a different planet to the rest of us.
  2. Looks like we could be on track for pick 1, 2 or 3.
  3. Melbourne's 2014 Community Camp is taking place in Alice Springs ahead of Friday's NAB Challenge match against the Cats. The Demons will be running activities on Thursday and the game should be a major boost for footy in the country's centre. The Central Australian Redtails Football Club has had two trial seasons in the NTFL and is set to be a full member of the competition in 2014-5. The club announced last week that Hollywood movie star Chris Hemsworth has been named its national and international ambassador - Chris Hemsworth named ambassador of the Redtails. On a sadder note, the Liam Jurrah saga just gets sadder and sadder - Former AFL footballer Liam Jurrah appears in Alice Springs court looking frail and exhausted.
  4. Groin injuries are not very good. Better he takes the whole year off to get over it as well as stay out of the limelight for a while.
  5. What about that Garry Ablett? I didn't think it was one of his better games but he still ends up with more than 30 possessions, kicks a supergoal, dominates the last 2 or 3 minutes and kicks the goal to win the game. The Suns wouldn't be much if he got injured.
  6. Does the match review panel operate for these games? I'm sure I saw a Geelong player cop a broken jaw and lose some teeth the other night in which looked to me to be a head high clash. I thought that was at least an automatic referral?
  7. I don't really see how it follows from Roos' comments that TGR's view is incorrect. Trenners came to the club as #2 choice in the 2009 draft and has had two regular coaches and two stand-in coaches in that time who have all failed to bring the best out in him. He has been particularly restricted by a series of injury concerns over the seasons during which he was captain and his game is in need of a rebuild after that. This is what Roos addresses. He might have an opinion about how the captaincy might have affected him but he doesn't know for sure because he wasn't close enough to the club. However, giving the player a place in the reduced leadership group and his demeanour under fire in the difficult times, suggests to me that on balance, TGR got his thesis right.
  8. I don't know if its been mentioned elsewhere but we're not alone with players going through rehab and with injuries at this (and any other) time of year - Summer aches and strains: The AFL injury list The above was obviously written before Colin Garland's ankle injury came to light but we can see that most clubs have their concerns although it's a worry that Carlton appears to be relatively injury free.In the past week alone we've learned of injuries to Joel Selwood, Jackson Trengove (not Jack) and Lewis (not Leroy) Jetta on top of some highly publicised injuries the week before. I trust we're as good as the others in treating injuries and getting rehabs right, if not better.
  9. Let's just bring in Stormin Norman and nuke everybody.
  10. Has anyone called for the sacking of the coach and fitness staff yet?
  11. It's also way off the mark. Cross' disposal isn't up to the standard of say, Jimmy Toumpas but it's reasonably effective and I think he will challenge Jordie McKenzie for his role as a stopper because he's just as good in that role and he's an infinitely better kick.
  12. What's the CEO doing getting involved in football matters anyway?
  13. He wasn't actually training but had a few kicks at the side. Is mates with Viney through the families and in Adelaide.
  14. According to the club's website, all training sessions next week will also be in a place that's almost as far away as Alice Springs. Casey Fields. Probably because of the tennis.
  15. With respect, as good as we might think our tall forwards are, let's not forget that Franklin and Roughhead have three Coleman Medals between them (Buddy would have scored another but for that troublesome ... ahem ... "hamstring" that kept him out of a large slab of the last half of 2012), had a top class midfield pumping the ball to them and a few clever smalls like Cyril at their feet. Our blokes have yet to establish they can all get on the park on the same day let alone dominate the goal kicking as the Hawthorn players have done for so long and with such consistency.
  16. It helps to have a staunch bomber fan who idolizes James Hird high up on the chain of command at News Limited.
  17. WYL, I'm guessing that you didn't quite make it to the top of the class in comprehension or clear thinking but I'm not even close to wishing Roos anything but well.I am asking the question what if Roos does no better than coach the team to where the bookies think it will finish? Will he cop 99.9% of the blame like Neeld or will people acknowledge that it was a tough gig for a young coach to take on. Some of the baying and accusations made against him were pretty shameful and reminded me of Richmond in the way that club and its supporters treated their coaches before the current admin came into power. My record on here since day one has been to support the club and I would never wish any coach badly for any reason whatsoever.
  18. They don't rate our list but they mustn't rate Roos' chances of improving us either. What does that mean in terms of the topic of this thread? A playing list is put together and developed over a period of years. Neeld only coached for two years so what were we expecting from him when he got the job. He took on a club with disgruntled players after 186, he had a third world midfield, his best forward ran amok with a machete and the only decent recruit in his first year busted his foot. What if that happens to Roos?
  19. He's doing fine & I'm happy too but that's not the point. I was simply saying that in the end, many Essendon supporters don't believe their club was being run to industry best standards in his final seasons. He appointed a coach who eventually didn't come up to scratch and wasn't up to those standards either. Bailey and Neeld were both in the same boat when they were appointed. You need time to find out how good a coach can be and we found out eventually. I hope it doesn't happen but what do you do if we can't win games under Roos? TAB Sportsbet has us on the last line of betting with the Giants. What if they're right?
  20. Exactly how do we go about doing that on 22 December?
  21. Not sidetracking mate. PJ was the CEO who gave Sheedy his last contract and presided over Essendon's slow decline as a power so there are question marks about him on a number of scores from Bomber fans.
  22. If that's the case we're stuffed because my cousin who's a Bomber fan reckons Peter Jackson is the pits. Jackson was responsible for getting rid of Sheedy and replacing him with Knights. Ask any Bomber fan if they think he was industry best or even near it for most of the journey at Bomberland.
  23. You shouldn't be. There was someone posting around here who thought Dom Barry was going to get plenty of AFL game time in his first season but ended up a fringe player at best in the Casey Seniors who had games in the twos as well.
