  1. Why not do what Tiger fans do and put it in the microwave?
  2. I notice that only seven of the first 30 draft picks are going to Victorian clubs. Interesting.
  3. I suspect Aussie's manager has persuaded him to nominate on the basis that he has a change of heart and presents to the medical people and makes a serious attempt to get fit ahead of the rookie draft. But time is running out!
  4. I don't understand where you get the idea that Neeld is "chest beating". He has articulated exactly what he wants from the players at this time and he speaks logically and with the authority of someone who comes from a successful premiership winning club. We're not expecting him to win matches in November but he's done nothing other than demonstrate that he's determined to turn the club around from where it was when it suffered those terrible losses under Bailey but that is in no way what I would describe as "chest beating".
  5. Not justifying the Board's conduct but Bailey would certainly not have been blindsided by their action. IIRC Bailey was asked by the media after the 186 game whether he was considering resigning and he said that he was not. The subject was the talking point in newspapers and talkback radio and he would have known exactly what was coming before the phone call. I also agree that you can't compare the situation with Adelaide and the Bulldogs while Fremantle's behaviour with Harvey was infinitely worse.
  6. Is it an offense for a passenger to leave the scene of a car accident?
  7. Anything happening on the Scully front ATM? Has he gone yet?
  8. Of course we learn our lessons but what do we gain by venting about him? He's now just another player at another club and his importance to me is on the same level as an amoeba.
  9. Burns would probably be a natural for the Adelaide gig as he originally came from Norwood. On the other hand, West going back to the Doggies would be understandable with a new coach coming in at Melbourne and wanting to cherry pick his assistants.
  10. There's probably little difference between the two things when players can wait a few weeks for the surgery. It's a fine line and depends on the type of surgery involved. As long as we are in an alignment with a VFL club then it's only right that we should provide it with the best possible support whilst also looking after our club and out players' best interests as well. You have to feel for poor old Box Hill who are no longer independent and are totally subservient to Hawthorn to the point where Clarkson's decision to rest eight of his best players decimated Box Hill's finals campaign. I suppose that if we were in the same position, we would have done the same thing.
  11. Those who are laughing would do well to remember that even in losing by 16 goals, Collingwood's game against the Cats was still 15 goals better than our last one was against them. Let's worry about getting our house in order first before making fun of the side that finished on top of the ladder.
  12. This is a matter for the builder, the MCC and the MFC's insurers. Nothing to see here. Let's move along.
  13. The club needs a new broom to come in and sweep the place clean. We need an outsider to come in who will assess the list, take stock of the situation and introduce his own style on the place. By retaining Todd Viney, already an insider, I don't believe we will be able to achieve what's necessary to remove the stigma of what happened in the latter days of the Bailey coaching regime. We need to erase the memory of 186 and ensure that it can't happen again. No fault of Todd Viney's but what we've seen in the past month has been an extension of what happened on that day at Skilled Stadium. The club remains infected by the stigma of that day. We need a complete change in coaching staff including the head coach and all assistants.
  14. Yes, we need someone to go through the club and do a proper, open and transparent review of how the club works, to make findings and to ensure the board implements them.
  15. Seems to me the playing group is worse at playing politics than it is at playing football. Keep your eyes on the ball and play footy, fellas.
  16. Scully is supposed to be a pro who is dedicated to consistent improvement and development. How would that work under the coaching of Sheedy and Williams in a team that wins 3 or 4 games a year?
  17. There was a lot of criticism about the way the Brisbane Bears were put together as a team in 1987 when they made their debut in the VFL. However, they were far more competitive to start with than Gold Coast so far. Most of the Bears players had spent time in the VFL system and had some senior experience whereas many of the Suns' kids have been thrown to the wolves. While some might benefit from this experience, I suspect that others are going to fall by the wayside because of lack of proper grounding. As for today, I hope that Melbourne exploits this experience and lack of leadership in as ruthless a manner as possible. The club had its chances last week and blew them with a poor start but really, we will be the joke of the competition if we don't put this lot away early.
  18. I presume Addam Maric is today's emergency?
  19. In case anybody's wondering, Brendan Fevola kicked four goals for Narre Warren today against Berwick. Fevola had given a promise to play for Narre in its opening match of the season. He wasn't in the best players of the team which lost by about four goals but is on track to debut for Casey seniors in their next game following the bye. Incidentally, Casey's next game is against Frankston and it's the ABC telecast game.
  20. Over at Carlton, Brock McLean has changed numbers from 7 to 14. His grandfather, Rod McLean, wore number 14 on 128 occasions between 1935 and 1946 including in the 1938 and 1945 Premiership teams, while his uncle, Ricky McLean wore the guernsey number in 19 matches between 1966 and 1971. IMO, it's a poor move. He's been slow enough all of his career wearing one number on his back, just imagine how slow he's going to be carrying two!!!
  21. Found a story in a local paper about a young bloke trying out with the Scorps: BEN ROCKS
