  1. Rioli and a 2004/2005 Aaron Davey are the same person.
  2. Colin Sylvia has lots of currency. Melbourne has been giving him plenty of it for the last ten years.
  3. Weren't people bitching for the last 18 months about how poorly Mark Neeld treated his players? And now you're defending Nathan Buckley for singling out one of his players as a subject for derision and ego-boosting power games? WTF?
  4. That's a really good point. If touching the ball to the ground counts as a bounce, then is it considered a bounce anytime the ball touches the ground when it's in your possession, or is it an elective thing?
  5. The Clisby rule is obvious. It's just like if he had kicked it out on the full, but had put his foot over the the goalsquare line. The moment he does that, where the kick goes is irrelevant. The ball is bounced at the top of the goalsquare. The same principle applies here. Clisby cannot legally handball the ball before kicking it. The moment he handpasses it, the game is stopped and the ball is balled up. Where he handballed it is irrelevant because the game is stopped. It's so goddamn obvious that it's unbelievable the umpire got it wrong.
  6. More like "signing the Neelded ones," amirite?
  7. 18 months. That way we can be sure that we'll actually honour the contract.
  8. In his post-match interview, Jobe said the Bombers had been "ropa-doping" this past month. Not the best choice of words, I'd venture.
  9. Jamar is effectively our ruck coach. Why would we trade him?
  10. Rd 17, 2010 Melbourne 22.10.142 def. Sydney 10.9.69 Only seven Melbourne players who played in that false dawn of a game will be playing in today's game. These are: Colin Sylvia, James Frawley, Aaron Davey, Lynden Dunn, Colin Garland, Nathan Jones, Jack Watts On the other hand, fourteen players from that Sydney side will be playing in today's game. These are: Kieren Jack, Ben McGlynn, Nick Malceski, Daniel Hannebery, Josh P. 11. Not you, I guess...
  12. There's no danger of that. Mine runs on despair, and so it has an almost unlimited supply of fuel. Seven years worth to be precise.
  13. My point is that it would be silly to use the Dogs performance today to discredit or cheapen our win last week.
  14. The dogs sucked today though. Plus, our shitty midfield means that any team with a half-decent set of mids is a very good chance of beating us no matter what the rest of their team looks like.
  15. Jesus bloody Christ! I hope I'm wrong about this one. What a thread this was.
  16. The AFL is about as socialist as the UK, Canada or Australia. While everything pretty much revolves around money in these countries (and in the AFL), if you're in a bad situation you're not totally screwed because you can still get some support if you ask for it.
  17. I think history will show that Mark Neeld was a bit of this: People won't realise it (and they definitely won't like him), but I still maintain that he was good for the club. Neil Craig has said as much, though perhaps Neeld will leave a far better legacy as a departed coach than he ever would have had he stayed on.
  18. I thought this was some form of sperm farming project, where we try to put together a harem of amazon women and lock him in a room with them for the next ten years.
  19. YES YES YES! [censored] or not, he is a fantastic running defender. Our backline is chockers with excellent one-on-one players. The very last piece of the puzzle there is someone who can set up our attacks. Garland, Frawley, Terlich O'Brian, McDonald, Grimes Best backline in the league, to go with the best forward line in the comp. If only we had a good midfield, we could be premiership contenders NEXT YEAR!!!
  20. Here's the preview for those who haven't seen it. Very interesting.
  21. It's almost at the point where if getting a new coach (ie Paul Roos) would mean losing Neil Craig, the loss would outweigh any potential benefit gained by hiring the new coach. It's Craig all the way for me, unless we can keep him around AND get Paul Roos. Talk about a dream team. There's no chance of the players not liking those two coaches, both of whom have shown they know a bit about footy too.
  22. I believe Shane Mumford is out injured with a bum face.
  23. Chris Dawes, Mitch Clark, Matt Jones, Dean Terlich.
  24. His face always looks like that after physical exercise.
