  1. Don't worry mate, by round 16 we'll be 1-15 or 0-16 and selling our soul won't be an issue. My only interest for Saturday is to see how Scully and Trengove go in game 2, whether Newton can actually be a viable option for us this year and whether we can be within 5 goals at half time. Sad how far we've fallen since 2006.
  2. Can recall Collingwood spanking us by 96 points on Easter Monday, 1996 as well as round 2 last year. Maybe Collingwood have won all the round 2 matches?
  3. Why did we delist Buckley, but re-sign Bartram for 2 years and then not even bother playing him round 1?
  4. I'm tipping 2 wins for the year. Richmond in round 19 and maybe a West Coast (MCG) or North if we're lucky. If by some chance we win under 5 games and somehow get picks 4 and 7, can we please draft for needs at pick 7 and get the best Key position forward available. Our forward line succession planning has been an absolute disgrace of the highest order. I know Jurrah and Watts are unavailable, but it's a sad set of circumstances when Petterd is your 'go to' man.
  5. GC won't be able to get Scully, Trengove, Morton, Gysberts, Tapscott and Jurrah so I guess that's a positive. Interesting to see if they start sniffing around for Watts who I'm sure will come out of contract this year. I guess the general vibe around here is that one of Petterd, Miller or Jamar is off to the Gold Coast. Please let it be Miller...they can give us a ham sandwich for compensation for all I care. Brad Miller would be a good 'rent a forward' for 1 or 2 years for them. The good thing about Trengove and Tapscott signing for 3 yrs is that West Sydney cannot touch them.
  6. The alarm bells were sounding after each practice match report here. Not good enough from a dual top 5 B & F winner.
  7. afl.com.au gave him 2nd BOG for us? Were they watching something else?
  8. Should've drafted Daniel Bradshaw with pick 1 in the PSD. I know you guys scoffed at the suggestion but at least we would have someone to kick to inside 50. Surely he would've been more value than Joel MacDonald who everyone was saying was rubbish today. I guess we were too nice and let him go to Sydney and give them evey chance to make the finals...even though we had salary space. I know he's not the future but at least he might have made us a tiny bit more competitive over the next 3 years. And I can't be arsed arguing why we didn't invest in a top 18 draft pick on a key forward.
  9. Great news from a footy perspective. He always rips us a new one. Wouldn't be surprised if he makes an early return though.
  10. We must get 40,000 at the absolute minimum. We managed to get 40,000 against Richmond in round 22 of 2008 so no reason why we can't get that for the Hawks game.
  11. So Newton kicked 3 goals. Any chance that warrants selection next week V Hawks? We need forwards!!!
  12. ^^^^^ Thanks guys! Information like the above makes this website all the more valuable. Good news for those guys. For all our talk of injuries, we're actually not that decimated - especially if Sylvia somehow returns for round 1.
  13. Anyone know the latest with these guys who must have question marks for round 1? Rivers - Got injured in NAB 3. Wearing a knee brace last week, according to a training report here. Grimes - Didn't participate in training last week, doing handball drills on boundary line. Missed NAB 4. Frawley - Went off injured in NAB 4. Joel MacDonald - A mystery. Was our best player in NAB 1. Missed NAB's 3 and 4 for no apparant reason. You'd think he would've played in all pre-season games to adjust to his new club. Must be injured. Hopefully all these players have minor issues and will play against Hawthorn as they're all important players.
  14. Bigfooty reckons he played last weekend. Will line up round 1.
  15. Cyril Rioli (OP) and Shaun Burgoyne (hammy) both in severe doubt for round 1. Infact Rioli may be rested for a number of weeks. http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/90733/default.aspx So the Hawks will most likely be missing all of: Buddy Bateman Sewell Taylor Rioli Burgoyne Skipper Young AND Mark Williams (I know he's left the club but that's 3 or 4 goals we don't need to worry about!) Hawks supporters are thanking their lucky stars they're not playing a good team in round 1.
  16. Hope they all have a successful and healthy hitout! Any chance Garland for Hawthorn, if he has a solid hitout? I'm predicting Watts to return for the Richmond game in round 4 if all goes well.
  17. Don't they still sell heavy beer during day games? They did when I was last at the G in 2008.
  18. It is just me or does Bate traditionally start the season slowley and then becomes consistent after in the second half of each season. Some of his games in the second half of last year were top notch. He has the tools to become A-grade but needs to work on consistency. Gary Lyon reckons he's top 50 potential.
  19. Wow. Missing just the one game would be awesome news for Sylvia and the club. Didn't Mitch Hahn sustain a facial fracture in the NAB GF and yet they expect him to play round 1?
  20. Needs to work on his disposal if he's going to make it. Otherwise looks promosing. Sounds like his game on the weekend was quite impressive.
  21. I saw him V's Freo and he played well against Adelaide last week. He only missed the Essendon game in week 2.
