  2. There was a passage in the third quarter which summed up the whole game. The ball was on the outer wing, and was deftly passed to Riewoldt. As he turned to take his kick three or four Saints players ran past with not a Melbourne player in sight. The ball was passed off and a goal scored. Easy! And sitting in the stand just above I felt mortified and very angry. And just one of many p*ss poor efforts. I feel sorry for Hunt and Wagner, they were out of their depth today, but I feel angry at Dunn and McDonald, and they were shocking. We've got a few good kids, but they're of the medium size variety, gee, I hope OMac makes it, we really need him. I haven't lost faith yet in TMac but Dunny and H may be nearing there use by dates.
  3. Spencer and Gawn worked well together against Geelong last year. If Spencer gets his fitness back on track it could be an interesting prospect.
  4. Even Titus O'Reily was displeased with Bugg's actions noting his push on Jack Riewoldt "reflected poorly on the club and the private school Bugg went to". However Titus was more unimpressed with Rance's hit on Jack Watts calling it " a shocking act, like shooting Bambi".
  5. Agree, and with a joint MCC/MFC membership from as low as $79.00 no MCC Demon supporter should have any excuse for not joining. Yes, let's get cracking.
  6. Interesting... Two years ago it would have been: 6:.Jones 5: er gee who else can I think of etc. etc. Now- Where's Jonsey? Mind you he was OK but as shown above we now have a team of contributors and not a one man team!
  7. 6: Viney 5: Gawn 4: Tyson 3: Watts 2: McDonald 1: Garlett
  8. And here's the nub of it. Trengove's aerobic capacity. With a sister who's a world class marathon runner and another who's a rower it seems like the genes are on Jack's side. Ghirmay Ghebreslassie may not beat Usain Bolt over 100 meters but would outrun him over 20, 30, 40 minutes or more. And the ability to get to more and more contests throughout a quarter of football is just as important as blistering speed over 20 metres. So if Jack gets back his endurance will be his weapon and not his pace over 20 meters.
  9. 6: Watts 5:Viney 4: Gawn 3: Jones N. 2: Wagner 1: Tyson Good effort by the whole team.
  10. Not too sure about that: may have the Samson affect! Otherwise I'd love him at the Dee's (but unfortunately I don't think it will happen).
  11. Robert Murphy: Interesting background, interesting person.
  12. Looking at the stats over on the AFL site, we had more possession, more clearances and more inside 50's which seems to me to be a vast improvement on last year. So we are getting the semblance of a good midfield at last, so bring on Brayshaw and Petracca. I'll look at the replay tomorrow, but from what I can see the game could have gone either way. I don't like losing but I feel better this afternoon than I did a week ago.
  13. I understand he did time at CHB in his junior days (or so I read). And he saved the day down back in round one this year. Now on Matthews and his comments regarding Hogan: I saw a bit of Hogan at Casey in 2014 and it was noticeable that he was anything but a stay at home full forward, and this he transferred into his senior career. When I heard Matthews make comment on Hogan as a stay at home FF I was quite bemused. But then when you generally watch the top few teams you tend not to know much about the rest. DISCLAIMER: dee dee is not and never has been a Matthews fan, he wouldn't last 10 minutes today playing the way he did back then.
  14. I'd be thrilled as anyone to see Petracca debut next week, but my more logical self, the bit of me that remains half buried during the football season has come to the surface and said No. No, because the club needs to ensure the kid has some real competition experience behind him at VFL level to at least give him a taste of football beyond junior level. No matter how good Petracca is, the step up from junior level to AFL level without the benefit of ( after more than a year on the sidelines) at least a run in the pre season comp. is a step too far. Maybe a debut in round 4 if he manages to get through a couple of games with Casey. By then maybe Brayshaw will have player a game or two and we will know more about Jack Trengove's progress. Ah, exciting times!
  15. I agree with you SR, however I'm sure the team and the coaching staff are well aware of the bad that's still there. i must admit I was horrified by some of the efforts during the 2nd and 3rd quarters. But sh*t the last was a beauty!
  16. And this is one of his many strengths FD, he has a cool head and the more he plays in a team that's on the improve the better I think he will become. Watts won us the game yesterday.
  17. 6:Viney 5: McDonald Tom 4: Watts 3: Kennedy 2: Jones N. 1: Oliver
  18. Cripps is going to be one of those opposition players I will enjoy watching play against any team but Melbourne. And he played well against us in that un-loseable game last year. Frightening to think of Cripps and Hogan together in one of the WA teams (and I bet they're plotting, the bastards).
  19. ? Weiderman for round four ? Would be a nice touch, or maybe that's a bit soon! But from the reports he performed quite well today.
  20. The Blooz surprised me last night. Richmond went in with the old "this'll be a cakewalk" attitude and boy oh boy did they get a shock. And I thought the blooz were quite good, shoulda won! And- Sheet, that Cripps kid goes OK
  21. So... The time honoured Demon tradition of hooning 'round doing doughnuts in Utes is now forbidden!
  22. I'll add my thanks as well. Your photos give us a real sense of the occasion: congratulations.
