  1. There is that but there is also the psychological capitulation after that. From a physical point of view we should have seen incremental improvement through these season. Unfortunately our coaches and leaders have been unable to get the collective psyche strong enough again to pull out a few wins. The constant turnovers are a result of that. I can accept that the list was not healthy enough to make this a premiership or even finals season. The concern is the failure to pull out a few character building, back against the wall wins from which to build into 2020....and maybe convince a few recruits that we are worth coming to.
  2. Maturing steadily. One of the reasons why there is still a lot to like about the list.
  3. Was picked up last year by GWS at pick 61. Makes his debut tomorrow. After a [censored] week at work happy to consider recruiting job offers.
  4. It would be brave for anyone to call the Lever deal a bust. Keep him on the park and he will again be one of the premier rebound defenders in the comp. He is rusty but he has been showing some signs. He is quality. Let us just see this one play out. The main concern with the list is how the lack of physical momentum going into the season has caused us to completely lose our mojo. And the inability of coaching or leadership to get the group back on track psychologically. I knew our first half of the season would be rubbish but was hoping we would come home with a flurry....
  5. Statistically is is absolutely an aberration. And Lyonbhas waited till the season was far enough gone that we couldn't turn it around. He's not exactly sticking his neck out. The thing i find amusing is that we are actually playing some reasonable footy and i would say that our form is on the up for the first time this season. The strategic concern is now how do we prove that we have a good list that is worthy of attracting an Ed Langdon and a good small forward.
  6. He has something. Persist. I feel he will be the late maturing ruckman. His brain has not yet caught up with his body.
  7. The side has been showing some signs of coming back into form. Putting some good minutes together.
  8. He has not had a great year but I would be reticent to dismiss a very young key forward who has played a couple of very good finals games. Has shown that he has the talent and the mettle. Maybe he has just teased us and will end up not making it.. but history has shown us plenty of key forwards who have taken a similar trajectory. This is not our season, so if you were going to suffer a year of the blues this is the one. He can return to form when we are contending again. (FMD is that optimism?)
  9. I believe thati he will be a midfielder. A very good one.
  10. There is the usual hyperbolic rubbish on here about Omac. The reality is that he is not of the required standard. His athletic limitations are his greatest downfall. He is frighteningly slow and lacks strength. He would also have to be one of the slowest on an an Afl list getting the ball to hand or foot. I don't blame Oscar, he is doing his best, it is simply a lack of talent, not application. Full credit to him for eking out an Afl career with these severe limitations.
  11. This season's failures can be attributed predominantly (but not solely) to 1. Apalling preparation due to us throwing everything at winning the 2018 flag. 2. Injuries to key players, particularly recruits in whom a great deal was invested. I feel that the disappointment brought about by the failure to meet expectation has impacted the collective confidence and form of the side and probably the whole footy dept.
  12. Please provide the names of your preferences.
  13. Absolutely getting smashed with the ground balls. We are way off in intensity...
  14. Bless you. An example of how to argue succinctly, rationally and with evidence. Have you thought about federal politics? [censored] me we could use you in the current environment.
  15. I disagree. Lockhart is a very natural footballer. Hore reads the ball in the air as well as any we have on the list. Both have some physical limitations but both are natural footballers.
  16. Keilty has cost us a few goals today unfortunately
  17. Not sure if this has been mentioned. This is an average game of footy. Not helped by two teams that are pushing numbers back. And that both teams are pretty [censored].
  18. I don't think its lethargy. it is reaction time. His movements are incredibly slow. Hand to hand, hand to foot. He has done incredibly well to eke this much out of a footy career.
  19. This really stood out. He has previously been fairly exuberant when celebrating his good work. Other than this goal I thought he played a different type of game focusing on the fundamentals, he chose the clear and simple option and wasn't trying to be se xy... and we all know that there is nothing sexier than that.
