Brad Green's Retirement - It's Official
Mazer Rackham replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
What would you do if Malthouse gave glowing praise for Neeld? What would you do if he damned him with faint praise? What would you do if he condemned Green? What would you do if he pumped up Green's tyres? Do you see that it doesn't actually matter what Malthouse thinks? -
Umpires influenced by Crowd
Mazer Rackham replied to Jumping Jack Clennett's topic in Melbourne Demons
Umpires are influenced by the crowd. http://www.econstor.eu/dspace/bitstream/10419/33597/1/487110773.pdf -
Get over it, support the club, and when the wheel turns, enjoy the success.

Terry Wallace on our trading/drafting
Mazer Rackham replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
The official Easiest Job In The World is being a retired player/coach in the media. You never had to decide anything. Never have to make a hard call or risk anything. You can just wax on about what club X "should have" done or what player Y "shouldn't have" done. You don't have to do any research, homework, or practice. The only thing you're accountable for are your weekly tips. -
Robbie Flower on the wing. Brian Dixon on the other wing. Barass is still around. Who else hasn't kicked the bucket yet?

This "head is sacrosanct in all circumstances regardless of anything and everything" is part of the war on rugby league. They want northern mums looking at league and saying "ooh, what a rough game. My boy won't be playing that." They want the same mums looking at Aussie rules and saying "now that's a nice safe game with no nasty violence." Twenty years time, all the kids are playing Aussie rules. That's the vision, anyway.

Pies: 3 fan sites that I can think of Blues: 2 Dons: 1 Hawks: 1 Tiges: 1 North: 0 Dogs: 0 North, Dogs fans have to resort to Bigfooty! We don't want to be relegated to the second division of club fan sites. As we rise up the ladder, our growing legions of fans will want choice. We must give it to them. Demonology must come back.

So close.

Fair enough. I think it's good to return fire on any basis just to shove it up him. (Denham, not KB)
-
Dehman is immune to "reasons" and "logic". The man is irrational. He could blame the European financial crisis on MFC.
-
Denham has some personal beef with Cam Schwab. Dunno exactly what. His pitiful revenge is to bag Melb every chance he gets. No matter what the topic, Denham can find a way to turn it into a diatribe against MFC. Last week they were discussing Martin Pike's time at Brisbane. Of course Denham chimed in that he's another player that MFC couldn't keep ... he was getting wound up to lash our recruiting for the last 1,000 years, but KB had the decency to suggest that some players need a change of clubs as a wake up call. This child is unable to separate CS and MFC and has turned his personal grudge into a years-long sulk. If you read bigfooty you will see that "Venom Denham" doesn't get much love from supporters of any club. They think his opinions are lightweight and his facts wrong. He is immature and of low character.

Cloke and Collingwood - to part or not to part?
Mazer Rackham replied to Satan's topic in Melbourne Demons
Five years too long. Five mill too much. I hope we are doing this to game Collingwood and force them to take him for 5 years and 5 mill. Eddie is panicking. -
Hear, hear.
-
Just paid my subs. And would be happy to do it for 'ology too.
-
We should get him while our premiership window is still open.
-
Good for him. And? Whoops. Sorry about that. I'll get with the program. Here goes: Oh, why does everything always happen to us? Woe is me!
-
For some stupid reason 'land and 'ology communities used to look down their noses at each other. Why? Probably lost in the mists of time. The kind of craziness that can only happen on the internet.

Is the holding-the-ball interpretation really better?
Mazer Rackham replied to Traja Dee's topic in Melbourne Demons
The Giesh said about one holding the ball/dropping the ball incident that was highlighted ... (paraphrasing) "well, he meant to dispose of it correctly, and that's why he wasn't penalised." The Giesh invented a new rule called "the natural arc" when kicking for goal. Do we see this [censored] in any other sport? Tennis: "Fault-- er, correction. Mr Nadal did not mean that ball to go out. Play let." Athletics: "Break! hang on -- he started only a little bit before the other runners." The Giesh believes in "interpretation" of rules. Rules that require "interpretation" are poorly written. The Giesh is doing a terrible job. Possibly he is conflicted by his higher-up masters. After all, we have three rules committees: the Bartlett one, Adrian Anderson, and The Giesh. All working in wonderful disharmony. -
Important to remember that we (the members) were not voting to put the MFC out of existence. We were voting to put HFC out of existence. It was a takeover. Get their players, sponsors, supporters, facilities, and five years later have a jumper change and name change back to "the Demons". Somehow, we were the "senior partner" in this escapade. Looked great on paper.
-
That must be what happened to Demonology.
-
Poor old 'ology. It's like the hotel in The Shining. Near deserted and only populated by old ghosts. But it was once the premier Demons site. It would be nice if we could have multiple fan sites, like some other clubs that I can't bear to mention.
-
I find it more satisfying to imagine that he didn't play on, and that the bombers were robbed. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. (swills brandy)
-
I see Watts as a bigger James Hird, or a smaller Adam Goodes. Skilled and damaging all over the ground.
-
While we're at it, let's bring back Ben Holland, Nathan Carroll, and perhaps we can dig up the corpse of Norm Smith? The only way is forward. Forget Brock McLean and that entire way of thinking.
