I recall Collingwood going deep into September. Can't remember us playing any finals. Yes, Collingwood always get a favourable draw. Live with it. It's up to us to win games and pull crowds. Then we'll get the good draws. Our fate is in our own hands.

Who will be the new assistant coaches?
Mazer Rackham replied to Diehard Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
From the recent stuff about Bailey in the papers and on the net, he already knew plenty about our list! -
He's a senile old "half-wit" (insert stronger wording at your discretion). Most of the time he sounds like he's suffering from dementia.
-
The football industry has been quarantined. There will be no AFL games in Melbourne this weekend, and the spring finals carnival is in doubt.
-
Does the fitness coach determine the game plan? Did the fitness coach decide to make the players skinny? Or was he directed to make them skinny? You can't evaluate the fitness coach on this horror season. He may have done his job to a "T". Having said that, I think he's gorn.

Sylvia is injured ... does that count as "news"? Sylvia is at the crossroads. He'd better hope the new coach has a use for him.

So did Woey's. The new coaching panel may do anything. Robbo ... Whelan ... Rivers ... Brock ... no-one is safe if the new broom thinks it's best for the long term. Maybe a bit of soul ripping is what's required? We're starved for success and something has to give.

Sheedy wants the MFC coaching job - inside word
Mazer Rackham replied to Tex's topic in Melbourne Demons
I reckon Sheedy would love the challenge. The challenge of restoring ancient glory to the once-mighty Demons. He's a football romantic. And what extra lustre to his already illustrious career if he could pull it off. -
I always had a soft spot for David Williams.

Video of Voss, Lawrence, Gehrig - St.Kilda bar fight
Mazer Rackham replied to Yze_Magic's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's called "grog" -
Fevola - a challenge for the new coach?
Mazer Rackham replied to Pinball Wizard's topic in Melbourne Demons
We don't want him. Recruiting any player at any time involves guesswork. Even picking up Brock was a punt. And can anyone say Pickett has worked out as hoped? But Fevola's a head case and as such, doubly risky. Can anyone bring him into line? I recall from long distant times the tale of Phil Carman... -
Sorry, no. Shocker as it was, our own p^ss-weak efforts at defence determined the path of the game. A replay of the Kangaroos finish earlier this year. Why oh why can't we hold on to a lead? If the tables were turned, and we were storming home from behind, and got a dodgy free, and a goal ... does anyone believe the bumbers would have rolled over and died for us?

Hate to break it to you, but these days, Jeff is a second-rate ruckman.

Oh, come on. We're all adults here, in the 21st century. The venue doesn't concern. What's of concern are the 3AM, 5AM, timeslots that crop up. Hanging around clubs and bars in the wee hours is like an accident waiting to happen. It's inevitable!

"Hangs with the wrong crowd?" I thought you meant the Collingwood FC!

At last! Publicity for the great club! "The only thing worse than being talked about, is not being talked about" - Oscar Wilde (HFF and utility, 69 games) One good thing about the Gutnick era was that Joe always had us in the news. Better than dying on the vine, unnoticed and unlamented.

More enlightenment from a member of the Sacked Coaches Club. Just ask Kevin Bartlett, Tim Watson, etc, about any coach who's resigned or been sacked. "Isn't it awful!" "Poorly handled by the club!" "A disgrace!" If they had their way, no coach would ever be replaced and we'd still be coached by Bob Skilton. Up against Des Tuddenham this Friday night. These guys are scarred. They are not objective.

Thomas the Destroyer? As if we haven't had enough off-field strife in recent years.
-
1. It took Tony Shaw's bias to stop you from listening to 3AW???? 2. Listening to Christian is like listening to 5AA. You wouldn't know there are two teams out there. 3. That Holland can hold Rocca like that is a huge indictment on Rocca. Suffer Rocca. 4. Back to Tony Shaw. Making a big damn scene? Ahhhh.... life's good. Keep up the good work Tony.

They're Nazis at Nick's. Don't even follow their own rules and guidelines.
-
Couldn't he have waited until he was on the ground on Monday? Thoughout his career he's always put himself ahead of the game.
-
The guy has one skill: punch from behind. Also from memory his kicking is not too flash. Maybe as a spare third defender for when Rivers, Carroll or our new CHB/FB (whoever that runs out to be) are injured.
-
That averages out to "we lost again" by my maths. How about four quarters of "red hot go" and one percenters.

All these changes, changes, changes ... Dunn out, Miller down back, trade Bruce, etc ... Fact is, we don't know who can and can't play any more. The team's confidence is shot. They've bulked down and are confused about the game plan. How can any player be expected to show what he's got without clear and strong vision from the football department? It's every man for himself and they're suffering for it. This will continue until a new coach emerges like a beacon on a dark night.
