  1. They really value him at the Blues and the price will be high ... in other words, over the odds.
  2. Good on you Demonland. Thanks for the site and a job well done.
  3. I don't hate Malthouse but I'm glad he's not coaching Melb next year. I don't think he would have the hunger any more. Nothing left to prove. Go Neeld, and go Demons!
  4. That's what I mean. "Almost"? Yet we did have a sponsor. We're an AFL club that many people around Oz would saw off an arm to be part of. Granted we're not up there in prestige with the Pies, the Eagles, Crows, etc. But we're not that far off them either.
  5. The "leper colony" look & feel was a mirage created by the many nervous nellies and chicken littles on internet forums.
  6. He injured his throat a few years back and didn't get it fixed for some reason. No doubt those rugby blokes are tough as nails. They don't seem to feel pain like normal people. Possibly because they've had all the sense punched out of them.
  7. And while we're at it, let's get rid of this name "the Dees". It's soft and friendly. Non-threatening. It's the kind of thing someone would shout out at a Wiggles concert. We're "Demons".
  8. Part of it is that Sheedy is anxious to shove it up Melbourne. I reckon that's why they picked up Junior as well. More out of hope than logic. Sheedy doesn't do logic very well these days.
  9. Why don't you just dream that we've won the flag and get it over with?
  10. Tom, this is the effect you are having on Demon supporters. Did you think of the damage you are inflicting, Tom? Did you?
  11. (puts on Joy Division CD) Yes. Kill everyone. Burn everything. Everything is pointless. Meanwhile outside, the sun is shining (but one day the earth will plunge into it). Fade to black ......
  12. That's the spirit! Keep punching! (yourself in the groin)
  13. I wouldn't use the word "corrupt". But anyone who expects "fairness" from the AFL wants their head read.
  14. Don't kid yourself. If they get tiny crowds and 200-point blowouts, the AFL will change the rules to allow them to pick, say, 8 players from other clubs, no restrictions, no questions asked. The AFL will not allow them to fail. Regardless of the cost.
  15. Julian De Stoop has his hand on it. If he doesn't stop it, he'll go blind. When he's not fantasising about AFL coaches, he probably imagines Miranda Kerr knocking on his front door wanting to know if the hot sports reporter lives there. He should stick to playing with his footy cards rather than playing the "AFL coaches" version of dreamteam.
  16. It's all scuttlebutt. The media love these things. After an event, such as the demise of a coach, they are experts on the affairs of the club concerned. Suddenly they know all kinds of earth-shattering things that strangely didn't get a mention the week before. If you believed everything written in the papers, you'd go mad. No, I am not worried. Let's get a good coach and march on.
  17. The football media are not football experts. They are professional rumour-mongers and gossips who happen to love footy. Even the ex-players, who often make a splash when they first enter the media (eg Lloyd), soon fall into line and blather on and on, on cue. You can safely ignore everything the media say about JS, JT, MFC, AFL, anything really, as it makes no difference at all.
  18. No one's doubting the talent. It's what between the ears that's brought him to this pass.
  19. The VFL is the right stage for Fev. He can run around, kick plenty of goals, keep a relatively low profile, go to the pokies now and again. He's shown he can't handle being in the AFL.
  20. Maybe you are on to something here. We should explore that.
  21. If I didn't know better, I would think you meant the opposite of what you wrote. So we'll compound a mistake with another mistake? Two wrongs don't make a right: old jungle saying.
  22. Who enjoyed the media circus around Bailey's sacking, and the secondary one around Schwab, Connolly, Lyon, etc? Who wants another media circus every second week? Fev's so good at circuses, he even comes with his own tent.
  23. Diamond Jim Tilbrook, Phil Carman, Kelvin Templeton, Byron Pickett, Gary Moorcroft, Chris Heffernan.
  24. Stop right there. If you start believing everything that's in the papers, you'll do yourself an injury. The journos may have contacts, may be "in the know", etc. But their sources are sometimes (oftimes?) simply wrong. They get fed stories that are deliberately false, too, as part of third parties pushing their own various barrows. You'll sleep better if you simply dismiss everything that's in the sports pages. Whether it turns out to be true or not, makes bugger-all difference to anything. For f's sake, it's written by people like Robbo!
  25. Well, so what. He's president of the pies 24/7. He can't pick and choose when he is and isn't president. A point that he has never grasped. In general, it's been a feeding frenzy for the media, other clubs, talkback radio, etc. The media in particular love it. They don't realise how rabid and frenzied they've become. Fortunately, their weak minds have short attention spans and another issue will crop up soon and this one will be consigned to the dustbin of history. We simply have to wait it out. Meanwhile ... GO DEMONS!
