  1. Well, if nobody can tell you what he does, it follows that he doesn't do anything. I suppose the only possible course of action then is to sack CS.
  2. It's not that. It's that going over old ground, particularly to grind an old axe, is not going to achieve anything. There is no way but forward.
  3. So what are you going to do about it? 1. gnaw that old bone known as "the past". OR 2. crawl to the AFL and say "kick me". OR 3. fight like hell to defeat these unfair charges, and support the club, the coach, the players through hell and high water.
  4. And, there was a shooter on the grassy knoll. And the shadows on those moon photos are unnatural. And did you know that the twin towers were made of a special metal that was designed to melt? And, they won't take away our guns!!!
  5. I reckon it would make it all the more terrifying. "He's asking about Watts ... ashen faces ... fumbling ... My future is in the hands of this f*** knuckle?"
  6. With a little reflection, this Watts info has been deliberately leaked to our mate Pierik. But whether it's by the MFC, to make the investigation look ridiculous, or by the AFL, to prepare everyone for a fizzler of a conclusion, I can't work out. Either way, it's working.
  7. These Keystone Kops at the AFL are effin' unbelievable. Did they watch any games that year? Have they ever watched a game of footy? The question should have been, why did Watts play even 3 games that year? But that doesn't sit with their "spolight in the eyes, bamboo under the fingernails, sign-ze-papers-old-man" style of interrogation. I note that this kid Hogan who everyone has been drooling over has not played any games yet. What skullduggery are the MFC playing at???
  8. How about that song that Celine Dion sang when that lovely young couple were standing on the front of that big boat? That was a nice song. Or how about something by the Bangles? The crowd could sing along. If we could somehow change to words to "just another manic Saturday" ... on second thoughts, "just another Sunday afternoon/twilight". You get the idea. Or, how about an Aussie song. Surely there's room for an Aussie song? "There's a track winding back to an old fashioned shack" ... I think that one was about the Junction oval. Or has anybody mentioned that song from that boxing movie? "That's the size of the tiger", something like that. Sung by that poor bloke whose jocks must have been a bit tight. He sounded like he'd swallowed a jalapeno at the same time.
  9. Can I like this post more than once? Like a hundred times?
  10. Disagree. The youth policy was his own. Didn't he say "shoot me if I recruit anyone over 25" ? In 2010 we were on the right path and pulled off some nice victories. At the start of the 2011 season, his cards were by no means marked. The world was his oyster. Who was it that treated him very badly for the whole of that season, and by extension, caused his downfall?
  11. The inmates do not run the asylum, and modern teams don't get beaten by 30 goals. You seem to be shifting the goal posts. Is your case that Bailey was following orders to get done by 186, or it that he was harshly done by after it?
  12. That was two years after the "tanking". The draft picks were secured, and used, long since. In 2011 his job was to win games. Maybe so. But modern teams do not get beaten by 30 goals.
  13. After 186, how could he possibly stay? How could any coach stay? Modern football teams do not get beaten by 30 goals.
  14. Dammit, if we can't defend these latest allegations, then we deserve to go down! They're as incisive as something you'd read on bigfooty.
  15. Then we're in agreement. But that's not what the bigfooty poster was saying.
  16. Translation: "Yes, we tanked." I think not.
  17. Of course we tanked. Everyone knows it. We did it under the disguise of "list management", following the blueprint laid down by other clubs before us. Vlad himself gave the green light to this practice. What has got people up in arms is the sheer unfairness of the current investigation.
  18. 1. The AFL is not a democracy. It's a dictatorship. 2. Let's say a miracle occurs and the AFL, having pinned our hides to the wall, then go after Carlton. Explain how that benefits the MFC. 3. Do you imagine that Carlton and all other clubs are not studying this investigation? Do you think they have not shored up their defences accordingly? The only club with any chance of going down for tanking is us. Anderson's been scalped for his rashness, but again, what good does that do us now?
  19. The AFL don't want to investigate others, and so won't. And even if they do, what good does that do us? Don't hang your hat on the idea that the AFL "has to" investigate other clubs. It wouldn't help us one jot. Vlad doesn't want a charge to stick because then the AFL is officially a competition where tanking occurs. Vlad doesn't want his key sponsors and their lovely dollars saying, "about this corrupt competition of yours. I've got a squeaky clean image to protect." Vlad doesn't want all the gambling companies and their lovely fees saying, "about this rigged competition of yours. I've got angry punters on my tail."
  20. I still like my analogy. I happen to have a copy of ATBMF. (And The Great McCarthy. And The Club.) Can't find anything that ties it to MFC. Wild stab ... something to do with Joe Gutnick?
  21. Is that the one where Achilles Jones, the star recruit from the bush, is brought up before the tribunal but they won't tell him what he's charged with? At the risk of being branded a Wilson-lover, I don't like your analogy. You are seeing this as a Stalinist scenario -- secretive brutality. I see it more along the lines of '80s Romania, or maybe '70s Uganda, where unstable buffoons ran the show and did so on personal whims which could change at any moment. Wilson is like a black market businessman making good from the scraps created by the chaos. (I learned all this background material while carrying around "The Trial" for two semesters.)
  22. "Because we are arbitrary and vindictive, not to mention inconsistent, and have shown on all issues that we make it up as we go along." "We are just as likely to find you guilty as not guilty -- we're finding our special coin right now -- and, if guilty, will invent a punishment that has no regard for precedent." "Although we can be scared off by big words and big statements and that stuff you came out about a former QC gave us pause for thought."
  23. Well, I for one hope you are sorely disappointed.
  24. Demons. And we're not "Dees", either. "Dees" are nice, comfortable, safe and unthreatening. Ban the "Dee" word. We're Demons. On and off the field.
