  1. Plenty to see here. [cue carnival music] Roll right up folks, and see the man who jumps at shadows. He looks just like you and me folks, but put a shadow anywhere near him-- look, there he goes! Now watch him as he leaps to conclusions. Here son, just wave this shadowy innuendo and half-truth at him-- woah, look at him go! He'll do it all day and all night, folks, truly a wonder of nature. Roll up! [music fades] I stopped reading these Scully threads coz they were going nowhere, but now I'm reading them again for the entertainment value.
  2. Hit the nail on the head, Redleg. Imagine if ... Tennis: "We are not penalising a player hitting the ball out if we feel that the player made an attempt to hit it in." Soccer: "We are not penalising offside if we feel that the player made an attempt to be onside." Cricket: "We are not penalising someone for being run out if we feel they made an attempt to make their ground." No other sport allows its rules to be so perverted. And by the people charged with administering them! The Giesch is a shocking administrator, borderline incompetent. His comments on whether JT's tackle was legal or not shows that that he -- the umpires' boss -- has got no idea. Giesch's latest with throwing the ball is a beauty. He said, if the umpire can't be sure, he will let it go. Thereby introducing yet another grey area. Now the players know they can get away with throws provided they make it look "kind of like" a handpass. A new blight on the game. Good one Giesch! If the umps handed out a few free kicks for lineball handpass/throws, even for legal handpasses, in a flash there would be no more lineball handpass/throws! Giesch has taught the umps not to officiate. He's now giving part of the responsibility to the players themselves, with the new advantage rule. Good one, Giesch. Let the players run the game. Giesch has no idea.
  3. That's good, ickey. And so like the kind of stuff that AA would actually say, I didn't twig until the last sentence. 5 stars.

    GWS

I think they're doing it very well. It irks me to admit it, but Vlad deserves the coin he's on. So many things add up to future GWS success. The grassroots support being given up there = kids take up the game. The elimination of head injuries at AFL level = mums prefer their kids to play Aussie Rules over rugby. Racial vilification, respect for women, etc = families are well disposed to Aussie Rules over rugby. The money is there, the timing is right. It's now or never. GWS will succeed. May they lose to the mighty Demons in a grand final.

    GWS

I want to see Aussie Rules as the undisputed premier football code in the country. Therefore, GWS must succeed. But hopefully not at the expense of MFC.
  6. Davey has to get back to what made him damaging in the first place ... * forward defensive pressure * good kicking. Too many times now he does a sideways dab that travels 15.01 metres and kills momentum. No walk up start until he's shown this at Casey.
  7. Every week now it's a test. What a great position to be in. Every week, a chance to win, an opportunity to see how the boys stand up. Beats the pants off every week dreading a thumping and waiting, waiting, waiting for the future. GO DEMONS!
  8. Who gets to decide if it's intentional or not? This is a rule that should be black and white. If you introduce a shade of grey, it will be exploited. "Oh, sorry ump! It was unintentional. Enjoy your stay in hospital." The players, coaches, clubs have a track record of taking a mile when given an inch. In general, there are way too many shades of grey in AFL rules. Why the umps should have to "interpret" anything is beyond me. Decide what the rule should be, word it accordingly, then no "interpretation" is necessary. The Geisch has a lot to answer for. Is there any other sport that requires so much "interpretation" of its rules?
  9. Are you ... putting the dampeners on this shamblesdebate? I do believe this is in breach of forum rules. By the way, my ouija board reckons he's gone. Gave me a nasty turn, I can tell you. Fortunately the tea leaves came through -- they reckon he loves MFC and is staying!
  10. Jeez, you're no fun. Can't you just say that a neighbour's friend who is Gubby Allen's cousin is 110% certain that's he's signed? Feeding frenzies don't keep on going by themselves, you know.
  11. As long as none of them are falafel, we're safe.
  12. I don't think he sets out to "play the supporters". I think it's that he can't keep any thought in his tiny mind for more than 3 seconds. Listen to him speak, he can't finish a sentence without changing topics. He can't get out one coherent thought before dropping it and going on about something else, because his concentration span is like a goldfish's. As for the guilty expression, that's just the hangover.
  13. Who cares what Prickering or any other commentator says? They prattle on and on about anything and everything to fill up air space. It means nothing. They could call Jimmy an arsonist, Schwab an axe murderer and the MFC a front for al Qaeda and half the posters here would immediately fall into a dead faint.
  14. Hang on! Aren't you the one with an agenda? Now it seems everyone's got one. How does one know what to believe in these dark times?
  15. I can't get over the amount of carry on about this Scully thing. Half the posters here are like a bunch of teenage girls. "OMG OMG Justin Beiber has a girlfriend my life is over." You can't influence it, so just wait patiently for the fateful day when we know either way.
  16. I guess this thread and its predecessors are just a practice run for next year's onslaught of "Trengove/Watts/Gysberts is leaving omg" threads. There should be some well-honed wailers and gnashers of teeth on here by then.
  17. Enjoy your worry then. Hope your fingernails stand up to the punishment.
  18. McGuire is renowned for checking his facts before rushing to the microphone.
  19. Why is this worrying? He's either going or staying, and there's not a goddamn thing any of us can do about it. So have an extra glass of warm milk before bed and get on with the rest of your lives. ............... So Andy Maher has an "impeccable" source? What of those impeccable sources who say Scully's staying? This GWS/Scully affair is a mine field of vested interests, scuttlebutt, disinformation, and plain old sh*t-stirring. Who can possibly make sense of it? Not Andy Maher, Mike Sheahan, or anyone except Scully and his manager.
  20. I reckon it's a mind game with Jack right now. My guess is he doesn't feel like he "belongs" at AFL level yet. One day, he will do a few good things, and a few more good things, and suddenly, he will realise "hey, I can do this!". That's when his career will really begin. Club has to persevere until that day rolls around. Might be next week, might be next year.
  21. The president of an AFL club has actively participated in spreading gossip about a player from a rival club. Eddie is wilfully ignorant when it comes to conflict of interest. "Oh, but I'm wearing my radio host hat!" Does he resign as C'wood president every morning and then get re-elected at 9AM? [censored], Eddie. You are the president 24x7. What would your reaction be if Brayshaw, Kennett, Jimmy, etc, ran around telling stories about C'wood players? Esp. if they turned out not to be true?
  22. Good luck to Miller, but fair dinkum, there's something wrong with a rule where a bloke of 28 with 100+ games under his belt can be considered a "rookie".
  23. What an affront! Mike Sheahan's 100 Greatest Guitar Solos list also was completely off the mark. And his 10 Best Holiday Getaway Locations had some absolute howlers in it. And who could forget his Top 25 Tips for Stress Relief? What a joke.
  24. Reckon the best thing for Fev might be to play out his career in the VFL. Decent standard and way less hoopla. Best thing for Casey, get people through the gates. Best thing for MFC, pick up some of the people as members. But fer chrissake, keep the young players away from him!
