  1. And the Hawks are the "wee and poo", and so on. But we will forever more be known as Tankers. "Yes, Mr Prospective Sponsor. We're tankers. Hadn't you he---- Mr Sponsor? Mr Sponsor?" Oh. They'll charge us for nothing, then?
  2. I'm trying to imagine Eddie or any other president uttering words like "we have to accept it". This kerfuffle is not about whether we tanked. We did. It is about the hypocrisy and unfairness of the AFL to investigate us for it. A court case won't be about whether we tanked or not. It will about whether the AFL correctly applied their own rules.
  3. If we accept that, we're accepting and announcing to the world that we "tanked". That cannot be undone, ever. We'll be "The Tanking Club" for the rest of days. Officially. That cannot happen.
  4. Can this thread be merged with the no-BS no-TS one? As everyone seems to have officially gone round the twist.
  5. Yes, Brumby is a keen Pie fan. Which made him sympathetic to the "poor us" argument Eddie gave him about running out of space at the underresourced Lexpac Centre.
  6. So far, the enquiry against the Bombers has not proved to be a Keystone Kops effort.
  7. Problem for the AFL: it's out of their control. ACC and ASADA may *not* want it to die off quickly.
  8. The coaches need performance enhancing drugs? They need them so badly that they are forced to resort to banned drugs? What are these coaches doing? Bench-pressing a player in each hand? Pulling a train with their teeth?
  9. Christ almighty. Is this Demonland or Bigfooty? The mods here are not shy of pulling posts. This thread is now cluttered with [censored]. Come on, mods.
  10. I see that in Denham, but not in Wilson. With her I see naked opportunism. She's not playing favourites, or the reverse. She's kicking a dog when it's down coz it fills column inches.
  11. Supporters of every club are convinced Wilson hates them. I don't think she does. She's all about the "scoop", and principles be damned. Don't come between her and a scoop. Or you'll end up as collateral damage.
  12. Disagree. They have the game's image to look after and that is paramount in both cases. With us, they have plausible deniability. "It might have looked like tanking but they broke no rules and were basically not very good." With this Essendrugs thing, assuming there's fire amid all the smoke, it could bring the game into disrepute beyond anyone's wildest dreams. One example: GWS. They've been shocked at how quickly the new soccer club has pulled the rug out from under them. Now their work to attract kids is much harder. Then along comes an adverse drugs finding ... "GWS ... aren't they the ones all on drugs? I remember seeing on the telly that AFL players are all on drugs. No son, you can't play that sport."
  13. We don't want a "no case to answer" result buried and forgotten. We want it trumpeted out loud, so that everyone in Oz knows it and remembers it. If we're off the hook, we need to rub a few noses in it.
  14. I think old dee has the right idea. Revenge is best served cold. I'd like to see us win the flag (obvs) and then see Healy, Sheahan, etc, try to get to get in on the celebrations and be thrown out by bouncers.
  15. And don't forget, it was Brock McLean who stirred it up all those months ago! Not Gerry!
  16. Jack needs to get to the stage where he realises "I can do this. I belong here." Right now, he's still intimidated by the various pricks and hardarses that you find in every club. Eventually he'll learn that most of it's a facade. It's a race against time for Jack. Who will win? Confident Jack, or shy and retiring Jack?
  17. Why not two? Why not three? Why not four? The "big boys" (Carlton, Coll, etc) have multiple user forums. Whereas North, Dogs, etc, have to content themselves with ghettos on bigfooty. We need to be one of the big clubs, in every way.
  18. Let's see now ... it's months after the trading season, and there hasn't been a sniff of this. But suddenly ... a rumour pops up ... and guess who's spreading it? Melbourne's Friend, Denham. Sorry, but the sheer fact that it's Denham decreases its likelihood.
  19. I'd rather we went to court and got into financial trouble, than roll over and take it. This is a new MFC we're seeing and I'm liking it.
  20. I reckon it's right, and it's exactly what the AFL want to avoid at all cost, and that is why Anderson is no longer there. Because he opened up a club, and therefore possibly other clubs, and therefore possibly the AFL itself, to integrity charges. Oh the irony! Anderson, Mr Integrity, has risked the integrity of his own organisation.
  21. So we'll give them more ammunition? The only way out of this is to bin the infighting and win games.
  22. No, for eff's sake. We don't want more division and turmoil. We want this episode over and consigned to history.
  23. When I read your posts, I hear the voice of Marvin the paranoid android.
