  1. There were massive wraps on him when he was drafted - surprised he hasn’t made an impact. (Also possibly just the afl media getting carried away during the midseason draft). Heard some Nth fans questioning his effort, otherwise have heard very little.
  2. You forgot the urban legend of Viney and Neeld coming to blows as Todd wanted to select Wines and Neeld wanted Toumpas. This was mentioned daily on Demonland for about three years.
  3. Getting Brown from the Roos is a 4 year deal. No brainier. Premiership. Good list management. Tom McDonald in September 2021 was a 28 year old key position forward, two weeks away from winning a premiership. He was available as a free agent. He gets a three year deal. No brainier. Good list management. Injuries, bad luck and some hindsight make the back end of these deals look bad, but these contracts are on the books at every club, especially ones in the premiership window trying to attract and retain senior players. Wouldn’t be surprised if Brown called time on his career, but expect McDonald to see out his contract.
  4. Really happy for him. Was a blessing in disguise for him to miss the Essendon gig last year. Hopefully, as a parting gift to the Dees, he tells Tom Lynch he’s not in his plans going forward…
  5. We have Tomlinson either in the best 22, or able to immediately step in and perform. We have Daniel Turner who dominates VFL but may need another preseason to step right in. We then have Jed Adams and Kye Turner developing in the VFL. I’ve heard very little about how these two have looked this year… anyone able to comment?
  6. Keep Tomlinson and play him. He is at solid lock down key defender who frees up Lever. This, to me, has been a no-brained since Round 1 2021.
  7. I’m %100 on board. I used to despise the expansion clubs, especially GWS, but now feel that they and their fans have served their time and deserve some success. Wrapped for Jesse and Bedford.
  8. I’d think the best we could hope for is currently Pick 22, which Hawthorn traded to Sydney. We wouldn’t be paying any salary, whilst Collingwood would still be making their contribution. The upside is that an additional second round pick may be more enticing to Gold Coast looking to load up on picks for their academy lads.
  9. And incredible game by an incredible player. Absolutely dominant and inspiring (again). He’ll be 32 at the start of next season, so we’ll need to make the absolute most of his remaining time with us. Also need to identify his successor to work closely under him. With Petty now seemingly earmarked as a key forward, that successor is worryingly unclear.
  10. There may be a few ‘smothers’ handed out in the first quarter of the prelim. If I was coaching I’d advise players to ‘smother’ the Daicos boys early in the game. A football act…
  11. I thought we offered him a three year contract but the offer and role at GWS was more appealing.
  12. On Footy Classified last night they said it was broken and some time ago and was being ‘managed’.
  13. I agree with the concept but West Coast would not give up Oscar Allen for any picks we could throw at them. He’s their best player and they’ll mould their whole rebuild around him. My frustration with our forward line is our inability to bring the ball to ground. Our keys try to mark when they should spoil and bring our smalls into it. TMac was not fast or agile enough to make position and was too easily outmanoeuvred by Moore in the air. Even just a big-bodied role player like McStay would have been invaluable last night.
  14. It’s amazing that geniuses at Fremantle were able to see the potential in a Pick 3, Rising Star winning Premiership player.
  15. Possibly irritation from the screws and plate.
  16. Petracca is a lock and it’s good to see Viney get some recognition. May could consider himself a little stiff to miss the squad but wouldn’t be a realistic chance for the team.
  17. Other than the colour of your shorts, are there any advantages to the ‘home’ team when it’s a home ground to both of them..? Do Collingwood get a higher ticketing allowance?
  18. I’ve never done my ACL, but I have torn the meniscus in my knee and, for what it’s worth, it looked exactly like what Melksham did.
  19. I know it comes up every year… but… how does he still have a job?!
  20. 15/15 Im pretty good with obscure ones and probably would have stuffed up David Neitz if he was there.
  21. Really not sure what the point of the team is. It’s a public vote, so isn’t a real reflection of a players ability…. Surely the AFL Players Association can put together something a little bit more meaningful.
  22. Some good takes. Thought Laurie showed some great footy smarts. He and Spargo fighting it out for the forward flank role. Tomlinson with 12 disposals and 6 marks in 3 quarters was decent as well. Was always going to be subbed out to swing smith back and bring Schache on.
  23. I’m not you can compare our ‘shafting’ to theirs. Theirs was a clear goal that would have been confirmed by ARC if the umpires had referred it to them. They now are out of the finals. Ours was possibly a goal, but ultimately inconclusive. No once could say there was clear daylight between Marchbank and the ball. It was discussed in great depth across the football media and the general consensus was the technology needed to be improved. In Adelaide, the technology was not used at all.
