  1. I suppose it makes for a welcome break from Essendon ‘winning trade week’.
  2. I’m feeling inclined to agree. The thought of Reid is very tempting, but 3 Round 1 picks could possibly set up our list for 15 years.
  3. This is reminiscent of our moves in the 2015 Trade period to secure Oliver and Weideman. Club copped a lot of criticism before all the pieces fell into place.
  4. I just have missed something with Shane McAdam. I thought he was a borderline beat 22 at both clubs… how do you ‘play hardball over that’?
  5. In suppose you never want to see how the sausage is made. I don't really understand the trade but will reserve judgment until the end of the trade period and draft. Welcome Pick 11.
  6. Agreed. Especially for an on-baller; that’s a lot of weight to be pounding around on. I have a feeling his knees may go the way of Lance Whitnall’s.
  7. Jordan Lewis joining us from the hawks is just as strange as this… Surely couldn’t happen. The scuttlebutt in 2022 was that he was playing on very little money. Must be be a matter of length.
  8. Using next year’s R1 pick is the concern.
  9. Dogs are paying overs; they must be very keen on someone. It’s also a strange move as they’ve commented on the difficulties of building their list after having to use so many picks on JUH and Darcy. I hope we go hard for GCs new pick 10.
  10. As the great Mark Neeld once said ‘We did not see that coming…’
  11. Perhaps I’m in the minority, but I think he’d be a perfect fit. With that said, Carlton and the Dees will both be fighting for the top four next year and they may be wary of possibly filling the only serious hole on our list.
  12. There were massive wraps on him when he was drafted - surprised he hasn’t made an impact. (Also possibly just the afl media getting carried away during the midseason draft). Heard some Nth fans questioning his effort, otherwise have heard very little.
  13. You forgot the urban legend of Viney and Neeld coming to blows as Todd wanted to select Wines and Neeld wanted Toumpas. This was mentioned daily on Demonland for about three years.
  14. Got a bit of a fright as I scrolled down…

Getting Brown from the Roos is a 4 year deal. No brainier. Premiership. Good list management. Tom McDonald in September 2021 was a 28 year old key position forward, two weeks away from winning a premiership. He was available as a free agent. He gets a three year deal. No brainier. Good list management. Injuries, bad luck and some hindsight make the back end of these deals look bad, but these contracts are on the books at every club, especially ones in the premiership window trying to attract and retain senior players. Wouldn’t be surprised if Brown called time on his career, but expect McDonald to see out his contract.
  16. Really happy for him. Was a blessing in disguise for him to miss the Essendon gig last year. Hopefully, as a parting gift to the Dees, he tells Tom Lynch he’s not in his plans going forward…
  17. We have Tomlinson either in the best 22, or able to immediately step in and perform. We have Daniel Turner who dominates VFL but may need another preseason to step right in. We then have Jed Adams and Kye Turner developing in the VFL. I’ve heard very little about how these two have looked this year… anyone able to comment?
  18. Keep Tomlinson and play him. He is at solid lock down key defender who frees up Lever. This, to me, has been a no-brained since Round 1 2021.
  19. I’m %100 on board. I used to despise the expansion clubs, especially GWS, but now feel that they and their fans have served their time and deserve some success. Wrapped for Jesse and Bedford.
  20. I’d think the best we could hope for is currently Pick 22, which Hawthorn traded to Sydney. We wouldn’t be paying any salary, whilst Collingwood would still be making their contribution. The upside is that an additional second round pick may be more enticing to Gold Coast looking to load up on picks for their academy lads.
  21. And incredible game by an incredible player. Absolutely dominant and inspiring (again). He’ll be 32 at the start of next season, so we’ll need to make the absolute most of his remaining time with us. Also need to identify his successor to work closely under him. With Petty now seemingly earmarked as a key forward, that successor is worryingly unclear.
  22. There may be a few ‘smothers’ handed out in the first quarter of the prelim. If I was coaching I’d advise players to ‘smother’ the Daicos boys early in the game. A football act…
  23. I thought we offered him a three year contract but the offer and role at GWS was more appealing.
  24. On Footy Classified last night they said it was broken and some time ago and was being ‘managed’.
