  1. Judged way too harshly on here, especially for a third round pick. It’d be a huge change going from the Saints into this Demons lineup and I’ll make a judgement on him at the end of ‘25. The bulk of our team has been playing together and under Goodwin for years; a massive change from where Billings has come from. Seen enough this year to think he could still be a quality contributor. He’ll need to increase his fitness and intensity to hold his spot in ‘25. (And, in all fairness to Jack, he’s scored 112 goals, not 12)
  2. Was outstanding in our Final against the Blues - probably the last time he played fit. Has the smarts to improve our Forward line connection if he can get his ankle right.
  3. Can't remember the last draft where there was so much variation in the 'expert' predictions and assessments. Seems to be a stable top 7, with the order changing almost daily and then a consistent 12 or so after that. Will be very interesting to see this all take shape over the next month.
  4. He reads the ball very, very well - that skill wont disappear at senior level. The rest is strength, experience and support. Without seeing enough U18 footy, hard to see what the knock on his game is. Looks a great build, athletic, reads the play well and is very brave in the air. Having had May in the team for the last 6 years shows the difference and elite tall defender can make. Would be very happy to have one in to develop in the shadow of May and Lever (and hopefully Petty).
  5. All through my childhood (the 90s), we were blessed with such powerful forward lines, but were always seemingly let down by our defensive personal (aside from some cult heroes). It's hard to believe that: Bennett Jakovich Lyon Schwarz Robertson Neitz were all plying within four years of each other!
  6. Sylvia had the athleticism and talent to be anything! Brock probably born ten years too late and a string of ankle and foot injuries didn't really help.
  7. Looks a lot better than the top 10 of '03 draft when we had two picks in the top 5!
  8. The written word rarely does. It's definitely tongue in cheek and poking fun at the media.
  9. I think everyone knows it's not literal - it's a tongue in cheek response.
  10. I quite like Brad Green's public 'Presidential Persona' - the center square line at the BnF and little jibes like this on social media. Bit of a refreshing change for an MFC President to play the media soundbite game.
  11. On Insta, he's playing golf Echuca and training with Marty Hore in Gunbower. Hell of a commute to have cleaned out his locker!
  12. Elite runner. A few years in the system. Emergency in a grand final team. Ticks a few boxes. There’s a knock on some of his kicking, that was the big knock on Langdon coming in too.
  13. I too am willing to ‘take a pay cut’ if I can play for Geelong… sadly, like Oliver, it ain’t gonna happen.
  14. I’m quietly glad Houston passed on us. Good player, but not worth Pick 5.
  15. Welcome the the MFC! Never want to see JVR and/or Petty as a starting ruck in Gawn’s absence. Hopefully match committee not too stubborn to play him should the unthinkable happen (Gawn injury).
  16. I’m not down on the details of how player payments work, but why is cap space useful when we have no one on comparable money to trade in..? Is the idea that we could then renegotiate other contacts so they’re front-ended and use the money another year??
  17. The good old “I took this meeting just to laugh in your face!” trick by Oliver…
  18. Almost as good as when you bailed up Blake Howes for 20 minutes only to later find out it was Daniel Turner…

Reminds me of the 'he gets on base' scene in Moneyball. I don't particularly like watching Owies go about his football, but he kicks goals.
  20. In fairness, he played 16 games for the year - that suggests he's genuine depth and considered in, at least, the top 26 players on the list. By all reports he got a good character, trains well and keeps out of trouble. Definitely worth having around, especially with Casey struggling with mature talent.
  21. Agreed - especially on the cheap part. When a player of Billings' talent is available at that price, you roll the dice; similar to Hunter the year before. Sometimes pays off, sometimes doesn't. I was very pleased when we picked him up and there is plenty of time to turn it around. He's been the scapegoat for a lot of our short comings this year and, in a team with Petracca and Oliver playing at their best, his skill set would be better utilised.
  22. Best comeback since Lazarus! Was outstanding all year in defence.
  23. Cheers mate. Thanks. Feeling the love.

Best Demon I have seen in my lifetime. Consistently performs to an elite standard and has carried the team in countless matches. 7 x All Australia Premiership Captain 2 x BNF AFL Coaches Player of the Year Legend of the game.
  25. Always been a big Tomlinson fan and was shocked he wasn't picked up by another club sooner. Wish him all the best!
