  1. The only 4 time premiership player around that age is Lewis & Roughhead (but obviously he is ruled out). Birchall is 28.
  2. With the continuous development of our 19-23 year old players I believe we SHOULD beat the following teams next season: Brisbane, Carlton, Essendon, Fremantle, Richmond, Collingwood, St Kilda, Port Adelaide, North Melbourne, Hawthorn, WCE (if at home). Plus I believe we will pinch 2-3 wins from the top 6 sides. My prediction for next season is 13-15 wins and our first final in 11 years! Go Dees.
  3. Did his time and everyone should move on and give him a clean slate. Hopefully he can fulfill his potential at Melbourne as I think he's a very talented player who's development was probably hindered by the turmoil of the last 3-4 years at Essendon. If we play the bombers round 1 I hope he and Hibberd can taste victory together straight up against their old side!
  4. Totally different players at different stages in development. I watched Steele a few times for GWS and he was underwhelming, I don't see where he would play in our side. Sure he would add some depth but I think the Saints are more interested as they know they will need to replace Montagna soon. Hibberd will be a very good pick up for use and help add experience and stability to our young back line.
  5. Imagine the roar when he kicks his first goal next season in Round 1 as we go on to win by 60 points.......
  6. I think he can be our version of Lachie Hunter. A smart, outside runner who accumulates a lot of the ball. Complements our midfield of Viney, Tyson & Oliver very well.
  7. I think the main problem is that we can't go into next season with Gawn (daylight) Spencer, Mitch King (ACL recovery) and then Max King (likely to be delisted). If we can't find a decent ruck/fwd I think we need to recruit a decent back up ruck such as Zac Clarke as he would add a lot more than Spencer.
  8. I wonder if this extra pick will help us in trading Dunn? May make them more willing to give up one of their 2nd rounders in a swap for other picks.
  9. Genuinely so excited for what this guy could become. I really hope he works hard to get the most out of his talent and help lift the cup for the Dees one day!
  10. I think we could play all three along with a second ruck/forward. Watts plays more as a medium and is extremely mobile, while Hogan is also really mobile and should roam from about 40m out to the backline taking marks. The Weed could be more a stay at home forward and the resting Gawn/ruck 2. You then have Kent, Garlett & Petracca buzzing around in the forward 50 as well.
  11. I'd think the club holds hopes he can become a really good ruck/fwd. But I suspect he would still be 2-3 years off having any chance of getting an AFL game at this stage.
  12. People are shooting down the Zac Clarke option but if you have a look at his stats from the 2013 year (when they made the GF) they are actually fairly solid. We desperately need another backup ruck as we cannot go into next season with Gawn, Spencer and Mitch King as our only options!
  13. Good result. Offers so much more than Dawes and will be a handy back up option for Watts, Hogan or Weed.
  14. Thanks Nasher. I'm so sick of people talking about this theme, it's pointless.
  15. I don't think you can compare this GF with 2000. That Bombers side was absolutely unstoppable and had the greatest season in history. The difference between the Dogs and Swans quality is a lot smaller than the Dees and Bombers of 2000.
  16. Dogs will keep the momentum rolling and win by 11 points with Bontempelli to kick the winner.
  17. You can get him on your member card so I don't think much can be taken from that.
  18. I did my membership renewal this morning and requested Dom on my card (obviously). Must be a good omen. Probably should've put Jesse on instead
  19. Apparently Jones is paying $12 to be Melbourne's highest vote getter. Surely that's worth a bit of a punt?
  20. I don't get the wrist slashing on this thread? Sure they didn't play well yesterday but overall the season was a success and it is great to see the Demons and Casey building a strong relationship. People saying that we were pathetic, Sydney were flogged in a Grand Final by the Hawks and are now back there. These things happen, it doesn't mean all the players are useless, just sometimes it doesn't click on the day. You all need to chill out.
  21. The funny thing is the only reason they were both so successful was by drafting and developing great talent. Cats: Enright, Selwood, Bartel, Lonergan, Taylor, Kelly, Ling…. the list goes on. Hawks: Lewis, Hodge, Mitchell, Roughead, Franklin… again they drafted many others. It seems these teams have forgotten exactly what got them success in the first place- building a side who grow together and learn how to play at their peak as a TEAM. Which is exactly what we are doing at the moment. Hopefully it translates into a long overdue premiership!
  22. Not for Reiwoldt. Maybe someone like Peter Wright, but even then it would be a tough call.
