  1. I never understood why he would wear that Guernsey against St Kilda? The red bars down the side are almost identical to the red on their Guernsey? Weird.
  2. I sent them the following: Good Afternoon, While I am sure you have received a number of emails relating to the 2017 clash Guernsey, I felt it necessary to also provide some feedback. I do not expect an email back, however as a paying member of the Melbourne Football Club I felt it necessary to voice my opinion on what I think is a really poor effort in the production of the 2017 clash Guernsey. I understand that the AFL sets certain guidelines for the types of clash Guernsey’s required, but I feel that this years’ is an extremely lazy effort at constructing a clash strip. I actually don’t mind the idea of having different strips as it presents a great commercial opportunity to sell more merchandise to fans. However, I can honestly say this is one of the worst attempts I have seen from any club in the AFL (including the Hawks Power Rangers effort!). It seems as though someone has just taken a white Guernsey (because we have to) and just decided to slap the emblem on there as they couldn’t be bothered thinking of anything better to do. The only thing I can think of that resembles this would be a cheap knock off singlet you would buy on the streets of Bali! While I understand that you will be unable to change the strip for the 2017 season, I do have some recommendations for future seasons. 1. We should look at involving the members in decisions on the alternate strip (as we are the ones who will be buying them). This could be done with a ‘create the guernsey’ competition or you could provide 3 options and let people vote. 2. We should look at only have a red clash strip. The Bomber’s colours are not too dissimilar to ours and they are able to have a red clash strip so why not us? 3. I have attached a concept for clash strips produced by another MFC member that I think would be much better options. The main reason is that they would both contain the red ‘V’ which I feel is synonymous with the Melbourne Football Club brand. I appreciate you taking the time to read this email and I hope that it does not fall on deaf ears. As mentioned I do not expect an email back but I just hope that the club will accept the feedback from the people who pay money to this club and who purchase your merchandise.
  3. Wow. So that Guernsey that was shown on the website wasn't a mistake....... How anyone could approve that beggars belief. PJ has been fantastic for the club but this is a stinker of a decision.
  4. I think I'd rather email the club as although the AFL set the rules, they can still work with supporters to put together a good clash guernsey. At the moment it seems we are being ignored and they are bringing out these disgraceful excuses for a guernsey. I don't usually get upset about this type of thing but what they brought out recently is so terrible I have to get my thoughts out!
  5. Agree I think it looks great as far as alternate guernsey's go. Plus it keeps the traditional red 'V' which I also like.
  6. I can appreciate everyone has different tastes. I think long term it could be a great partnership.
  7. If these were our clash Guernsey's I'd be fairly happy with that. I'd probably remove the little emblem on the original but other than that I can't see much better of an outcome than what you've put together here. Can we honestly put this forward along with a signed petition? Would anyone else be keen to try do that?
  8. They should listen as we are the ones who buy merchandise and also keep the club afloat!
  9. These things happen- he will learn and hopefully puts his head down and bum up over pre-season!
  10. You do realise that NB is one of the most popular brand of shoes amongst young people? I personally think they are a great brand to be associated with and have the potential to be one of the biggest in world sport.
  11. Can you please send this to the club, along with a petition requesting they swap the 2017 guernsey with this?
  12. Surely they are extracting urine? That is hideous if that is what they went with. Not quite as bad as the Hawks Power Rangers top but not far off. I agree with someone's comments earlier- the first thing I thought of was a cheap Bali knock off!
  13. Cheers Billy. At least someone can comprehend a post.....
  14. I doubt he would be best 22 so I'd rather see us pick up a genuine back up ruck such as Brooksby or Minson in case Gawn goes down.
  15. I think we should either select a mature age ruckman with our last draft pick, or wait until the rookie draft and pick them up then. With Mitch King likely to take some time and doubtful we would want him playing at AFL level this season, that leaves us with 2 pure ruckman in Gawn and Spencer. We definitely need a 3rd for protection should the unthinkable happen.
  16. I hate this idea that has been proposed by the AFL and I'll give my reason why. After round 18 this season the top 8 of the ladder sat like this: Hawks: 14 wins GWS: 12 wins Sydney: 12 wins Cats: 12 wins West Coast: 12 wins Adelaide: 12 wins Bulldogs: 12 wins North: 11 wins If the proposed changes came into affect then Hawks, GWS, Sydney, Cats, West Coast & Adelaide would all have to play each other once. As there would only be 5 games it would mean some teams would have 3 home games and others 2 which is also unfair. However, the biggest part of inequality would be that the Dogs (who were even on games won but just behind in %) would have to play North, Saints, Port, Melbourne & Collingwood. So essentially they are being rewarded with an easier last 5 games which they would likely win all of them leaving them on 17 wins and likely a top 2 spot. Obviously they won the premiership anyway but I still think this system has so many flaws that it can't possibly be used. The current system is probably as fair as you can get at the moment without extending the season and playing everyone twice.
  17. Would love to use a late pick on him and give him a shot. Impressive when these guys can perform while holding down a full time job against guys whose only job is to play football.
  18. I agree. I just use that as an exercise to try and predict how many games we win & lose and it usually ends up pretty accurate.
  19. Losses: Round 1 v Saints Round 3 v Geelong, Round 8 v Adelaide, Round 13 v Bulldogs, Round 14 v West Coast, Round 20 v GWS 50/50: Round 6 v Essendon Round 15 v Sydney Round 17 v Adelaide Round 23 v Collingwood While I'm sure we will win probably one or two of the losses I find it works well when you assume you will lose certain games and win others as it generally evens out. Also, I'd be bitterly disappointed if we lose to Essendon & Collingwood but I just feel they are 50/50 games at the moment.
  20. I am predicting we have the following: Definite wins: 12 Definite losses: 6 50/50: 4 Outcome: 13-14 wins and our first finals series since 06.
  21. Mine is: 1: GWS 2: Sydney 3: Western Bulldogs 4: Adelaide 5: West Coast 6: Geelong 7: Melbourne 8: Hawthorn
