  1. I just snuck a couple of arvo pints at the rosstown ;) Saw Jimmy Jordon there with his Mum actually. Very sad for him.
  2. You would think he will be 200+ by the time he starts.
  3. I have de-loaded on beers this week to make sure I'm cherry ripe for Friday night. I think I'll be able to increase my beer intake by about 10-20% as a result.
  4. Having some connections through my brother over there this doesn't surprise me. I really hope he's thinking long and hard about this one as history has shown moving to Freo is a poison chalice.... other than the money you earn. He will instantly be their highest paid player and if he doesn't perform the fans will become feral. Not sure he is ready to take on that type of burden but time will tell.
  5. Just saw that Port may enter the race for Brodie Grundy. If that is the case and Jacko leaves, would we potentially look at Sam Hayes from Port to play with Max as a younger ruck option? He dominates at SANFL level and is only 23.
  6. Maybe that way if someone gets a decent knock they have ample time to recover.
  7. I think it was to give themselves an extra day before the real thing, rather than playing the practice match today.
  8. I think it's game 100 in the QF?
  9. Apparently on SEN before Friday night's game Nathan Jones mentioned that he thinks Jackson may have changed his mind about leaving. Anyone hear this?
  10. Booked 7 tickets today on level 2. Absolutely pumped!
  11. Tbf if that what was said and the Lions want to create a good culture they should suspend him themselves. I reckon if one of our players did that they would get a club sanction.
  12. Well potentially Spargo or Melksham? Can never have too much quality on our list for the right price.
  13. Would be happy if we gave Breust a 2 year contract. He has kicked 40 goals this year in a poor side and is such a smart footballer.
  14. Have never watched it and never will. Tbh I can't watch any AFL media anymore. It is a complete joke and it is all sensationalist BS. At the start of the season we were 'unbeatable', now Geelong are unbeatable and we are worthy of being a bottom 4 side.
  15. We are now in the final week of SuperCoach and I thought I'd give a huge congratulations to our grand finalists, Team MAYhem and Ruffs nuts. Team MAYhem scored 2,424 in the prelim final and Ruffs nuts scored 2,439, so this looks like being a very close grand final! Thanks to everyone who was involved this year. It was an extremely competitive league, with a league ranking of 3,744 out of 15,799 leagues. We also have two members who are in the top 10,000 in Australia - Ruffs nuts in 2,135 and Captain Gawnbeard in 5,412. Good luck to the two finalists and hopefully see everyone join up again in 2023.
  16. Well probably first week of finals (hopefully a qualifying final).
  17. Totally understand the percentage play and it is part of the reason our defence is so good. I would like to see us maybe 15% of the time try a different option, especially if the other team has had repeat entries and we are bogged down. Maybe it is a Jayden Hunt running 10-15 metres and launching it to space on the opposite wing. If the players know what is going to happen then they can have runners ready. The other option is to setup for that May kick but instead look to hit up a player at around the 40 metre mark. The players on the wing can then break across the ground and look to get a mark through the centre square. I think these little tweaks could really help us when we are a bit stuck and the other team has repeat entries.
  18. Brisbane average 104 points a game for v the bottom 10 sides and 90 per game for v the top 8 sides. They also average 73 points against v bottom 10 sides and 94.4 points against v the top 8 sides. The difference between how they dictate play against weaker sides and good sides is very different and they fall apart once the pressure is turned up. The backline match ups won't matter too much if we can pressure them through the middle and not allow them easy run. Do that and we go a long way to winning this game. The pressure is firmly on them as they are known to collapse in big games and have a horrid finals record.
  19. I think they should schedule the first 17 rounds at the start of the season and everyone plays each other once. Then at around round 14/15 they can run their formulas based on top 6, middle 6 and bottom 6 to determine who plays who for the remaining 5 rounds. So for example, if we were top 6 after round 15 then maybe we get two top 6 teams, two middle 6 and one bottom 6. If there's a team in the bottom 6 then maybe they get 2 bottom 6, 2 middle 6 and 1 top 6. It still won't be entirely fair as some team may get two bottom 6 sides, but you could manage it by giving certain difficulty weightings to positions and ensuring the total for each team is within a certain range. Benefits would be: - A much fairer draw ensuring a top 6 team doesn't play two bottom 4 sides twice - Ensures more blockbusters in the lead up to finals
  20. The backline looks settled with May, Lever, Petty, Rivers, Hibberd, Salem and Hunt barring injuries. I think the key questions are: - Will they give Weid another crack at CHF - I doubt this week as he has played in a wet game on a Sunday so not much turnaround to Friday. - Will they drop Sparrow for Harmes - I'm not opposed to this given Harmes ability to tag, but again he is coming off a short break and a wet game. - Will they drop someone like Spargo - I think it's unlikely given Goodwin and Co like continuity in the team. Only change I could see is Harmes for Sparrow but even that is unlikely.
  21. Second year player still finding his feet. Had a great end to last year but is nowhere near the finished product and needs to continue to improve his defensive game. Will be a nice replacement for Hibbo when he's finished....
  22. I was more thinking we spend the money we would've for Jacko on adding more class to our midfield and then find an adequate ruck/forward to do that role. I absolutely wish we could get a gun key forward, just not sure where we are going to pluck one from?
  23. Surely the AFL will appeal the appeal.
  24. Hopefully the boys can complete the full captains run unlike our AFL matches.
  25. I definitely don't think he's the answer to all our problems, but I think he is one we should be looking at to bolster our forward/ruck stocks. I just have NFI why we would spend $700k on Brodie Grundy when we have Max Gawn. We could easily get bye with a half decent second ruck/forward and spend the money in bolstering other areas. Do we look at one of the Giants mids that want to leave and look to play Petracca forward more? Edit: The pies have f'ing Darcy Cameron dominating for them who they are paying peanuts.
