  1. There's a difference between being able to run fast and breaking through the defence using quick ball movement. I know Lumumba won't be dropped but I really struggle to see how anyone could think he had a good game? He literally runs past a guy, gains about 15m and then bombs it to a pack of 4 or 5. The ball is either punched over the line or it's mopped up by the opposition. We looked so much more dangerous without him running it out of defence.
  2. A lot of teams have been extremely disappointing round 2 (us included). I wonder if the decision to play everyone for all NAB games plus then Round 1 affected us for yesterdays game? I hate making excuses but I'm just trying to understand how an AFL side can come out and look so underwhelming.
  3. Yeah I thought that was the case. I'm not a fan of the AFL website one. I'll be moving to Super Coach next season then! I'll have to start from the bottom and work my way up to the top league again!
  4. In all fairness although they had more scoring shots and we had more inside 50's, so were just as wasteful as the Giants. Really hoping we destroy the Bombers!
  5. I agree. I was amazed we didn't try and pick up another back up ruckman during the off season. Daniel Currie, Jonathan Giles or even an experienced bloke in the VFL. I would imagine they must have their eye on someone for this off season as we just can't risk going into more seasons with Gawn, Spencer and the two Kings!
  6. Can we get some New Era ones made up? *Tongue in cheek
  7. I reckon it would've been one of the years that the GC or GWS first started.
  8. If we can somehow lure Hurley over it would be a massive get. Although Dunn and Garland are OK players I still think we are a bit weak in the tall defender department. Adding Hurley would give us one of the strongest back lines in the competition. We also need to look for some speedy, skillful outside runners as we still lack a bit of pace at times. We've got enough explosive contested ball winners now, though I'm always happy to get more if Prestia wanted to join us. Exciting times ahead let's hope we can land a medium to large fish at the end of the season to catapult us into the finals!
  9. I think we should make minimal changes, however I don't think we need to play Pedersen and Frost with both Hogan and Watts also in the forward line. I'd therefore go with the following: Out: O Mac (inj), Pedersen In: Dunn, Brayshaw Will give us an extra mid for this week which I think we will need with a number of players likely being a bit tired after the first full game.
  10. That's disappointing…. I guess a number of people can't be bothered anymore? Is there more doing Supercoach now? If so I'd be happy to move to that next season as I enjoy the multi tiered competition.
  11. I wouldn't go crucifying the Pies for this as I would say it is fairly likely we had a few players in the same boat. It's a pretty common theme these days and is in no way isolated to one or two clubs. I would imagine every club would have players who have been caught for this judging by the night life these days.
  12. It seems the competition isn't full yet. What happens if we don't have the full 18 teams?
  13. Doesn't look like it's been updated yet so there may not be.
  14. I imagine it would be a promise to all the players at the club not just Jesse- that we would stabilise and grow the club to be one of the best. PJ and PR have got that right on track now we just need on field success to solidify it.
  15. His mark against the Dogs suggests he could be. He is about 4cm shorter than Fyfe at the moment but this could change over the next year,
  16. Gee if we can get a win this Saturday the memberships could race past 40,000...... Can't wait for Saturday but super nervous!!
  17. i had a look at the teams from round 2 last year against GWS for a bit of context/comparison. Dees scored the first 4 goals before bending over and conceding 9 goals to nil in the 3rd term. I actually have some confidence now that we will be able to weather a storm a lot better this time around. I seem to recall that there were thoughts that the hard MCG turf (the cricket world cup had only been played a week or so before) had an effect on the teams that played there round 1. From my memory none of the sides who played at the G round 1 had a win in round 2. So without that issue this year I'm thinking we will win by 17 points with a great team effort helping to get over their gun midfield.
  18. I guess my point is that we should be going after any player that can improve our performances no matter the time frame (for the right price). Plus having more competition for spots won't hinder a young players development, it would more likely help to fast track it as they can learn from the player ahead of them.
  19. I honestly believe we should be playing finals next year so he is in no way too old. When are we going to move on from this idea that we shouldn't pick up players because they won't be here for our next 'premiership'.... whenever that will be. I doubt he will leave though but would love to have him at the Dees.
  20. The thing I like is that everyone mentioned the game on the weekend was more at AFL level intensity and he seemed to thrive on that and go up a level. Plus that 45m snap was something else for a first year player.
  21. How sweet it would be to snatch Hurley from the Bombers....
  22. I view Parish as a Marc Murphy style player who will be silky skilled, move well and will be an above average footballer. I view Oliver as having the potential to be a Dangerfield/Judd type player who turns entire games and does the freakish things.... Hope I'm right!
  23. I think that is a pretty fair assessment. I do however think we are starting to build a very strong midfield who will be genuine ball winners. They are just slightly too young at the moment to do it every week, though I think by next year our midfield will be seen as one of the stronger ones. We really do need to add more class off the half back line and I think we need another strong key backman. I think our forward line will develop to be fairly strong with Hogan, Garlett, Petracca and Weideman. Again this won't reach its potential for another year or two. Good times ahead though.
  24. That's pretty poor not to have people walking around and out the front asking if people are members? That's one of the oldest tricks in the book! Maybe they need to get some better sales people involved, ultimately that is what you're trying to do- sell the benefits of becoming a member and the value.
  25. He still has TWO years left! It is a total beat up and yes of course they know it will sell some papers because he is going to be one of the best players in the competition. I'm going to go out on a limb and say I am not worried at all and believe he will re-sign some time during pre-season for the 2017 season.
