GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs Brisbane Lions

I'd question why he was on him in the first place. Cameron - May looks after Hipwood - Frost McStay - Petty -
GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs Brisbane Lions

Neal-Bullen is important for this. Yes he can butcher it at times but he does a lot fo good work for us as well. -
Gee I'd love to know what moisturizer Burgo is using....

What's more important for us...
DistrACTION Jackson replied to one_demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think with some smart drafting/trading and a full pre-season we should be challenging again next season. We made a pre-lim with key backs of Oscar and Frost only. May and Lever included is a huge increase in key back talent. We just need some quick, skilful players in my mind. Weid will be a year older and hopefully TMac will bring his best from Round 1. -
He should go have a chat with Travis Boak. He had really dropped his output the last 2 years but this year has probably been his best.

Margin Call: Should we trade our early pick/s?
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Matsuo Basho's topic in Melbourne Demons
My view is it depends on the number of our pick and the available talent. If someone like Jack Martin from the Suns is available, at age 24 we would be crazy not to trade for him given he is exactly what we lack. Then if someone like Ed Langdon was also available I'd happily trade our 1st round pick for Martin and 2nd round pick for Langdon. Both take us one step closer to a flag, which at the end of the day is the only thing the club exists for. From m understanding we can trade this years' pick, but must use a 1st rounder either this year or next year. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY

Loved his game. Absolute bull at a gate. -
I'd love to see us go after Stephen Hill and Isaac Smith. Shouldn't cost much given Hill is a free agent and Smith is 30. We've got the inside mids, just need to add some cream to the side. I'd also like to see our starting mid next year be Viney, Brayshaw and Oliver, with Harmes first rotation. I think Harmes has more weapons up forward than the other three so should play 70% mid and 30% forward.

CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Collingwood
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Skin Deeamond's topic in Melbourne Demons
100% agree. He's a smooth mover and the type of player we haven't had for a while. He is earning his position at the moment, but even if he has a slight drop off we just have to keep playing him to build his experience for next season. I'd love to see him play on Brad Hill when we play the Dockers to learn a thing or two and see where he needs to get his tank to the level of. -
2019 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
DistrACTION Jackson replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
After reading the write ups (yes I haven't watched them) it sounds like Noah Anderson or Dylan Williams are what we need. -
Haha not required. Petracca was solid tonight. Lewis will 100% be gone end of this year and may even retire early and get a farewell game. Jones will play next season and looks decent at half back. Garlett may be delisted depending on who we recruit and OMac will be kept as depth.
-
LOL 2019 is the year that keeps on giving. Glad there were much better signs, but we really cooked that last quarter! Tim Smith & Hunt missed the easiest of set shots. Weid also but it shouldn't have got to that point. Still pumped for next year. We will likely get a pick in the range of 4-7 which could net us another high end talent. Go into next year with a full pre-season, softer draw, May & Lever back plus hopefully a few more high pressure forwards and we will rocket back into the top 4.

I agree with your comments re Spargo and ANB, but I don't see any value in trading them and hey provide solid depth. It's way too early on Petty and I'm fairly confident he will become a solid backman once he hits 21/22. I also want us to look at Richmond's list to pick off one of their smalls. Higgins, Bolton, Baker, Butler, Castagna, Rioli..... surely we can offer one of those players a bit more than they're getting at the Tigers.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND KYLE DUNKLEY

I hope you mean A Brayshaw otherwise Demonland will go into meltdown when that happens.... -
It's obvious this season is done, but I'm not wrist slashing as it's easy to see there are a number of reasons for our poor performances: - 15 off-season surgeries resulting in a large portion of our side coming in underdone. - An extensive injury list with 8 or 9 of our best 22 out last week and v the Eagles the week before. - Loss of confidence as a result of our poor start to the season. - Lack of outside run that has been severely exposed by the new 6-6-6 rules. I think our list is still very healthy heading into the next 5 years and this is merely a down season, which can be common (think the Cats in 2006 after making a prelim the year before and Hawks in 2009 after winning the flag). I've run my ladder predictor for the remainder of this year and predict we will likely finish in 12th of 13th with 8 or 9 wins. This will give us pick 6 or 7 in the draft and it is imperative we get this right and ideally bring in a gun forward in the mold of De Goey or Stephenson. The next issue is the management of our current list. IMO the following players will be gone at years end: Lewis, Stretch, Garlett, J Wagner, Maynard & C Wagner. With the addition of Dunkley tonight lets assume he gets given a new contract, that leaves 5 list positions to fill. IMO our most pressing needs are: electric forwards, quick outside mids, back up ruck. With that in mind, I'd like to see us go after the most electric forward with our first pick, more quick outside runners with later picks and a mature ruckman as depth. We should also be looking at potential free agents to add to our list such as Coniglio, Brandon Ellis, Alex Sexton or Stephen Hill (assuming he can get himself fit). A full pre-season into our team and a potential best 22 for Round 1 2020: B: Jetta May Hore HB: Hibberd Lever B Ellis C : Salem Oliver Baker HF: (1st pick) Preuss Melksham F: VanDenberg McDonald Hannan R: Gawn Brayshaw Viney Int: Frost Hunt Petracca Quick small forward (anyone but Spargo and Neal-Bullen) Depth: Dunkley, Spargo, Neal-Bullen, Weideman, Jones, Kolodjashnij, Petty, Fritsch, J Smith *Players in bold weren't playing last week and are best 22 when fit.

Go and find the most electric small forward we can please.

Shaun Smith not happy with Joel's medical treatment.

We can't stay out of the news at the moment...... it was a very strange decision to keep playing him in a praccy match and I think Mahoney needs to do some explaining. -
Our winning % at the MCG before the Bye round
DistrACTION Jackson replied to At the break of Gawn's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have a theory that early season games favour the quicker sides, but this advantage drops considerably as the season goes on. The reason for this is that the player's bodies become more fatigued from continuous games and the toll it takes on the body. Hence why we had a fairly good run come finals as we were well built with the inside game. The aim is to get a fairly even mixture however, as not enough quicker, more skilled players means it is harder to get easier wins earlier in the season. -
Casey Demons v Australia Under 18
DistrACTION Jackson replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Pickett looks a likely type. Could be someone we look at in the draft as we are crying out for a fast, skillful small forward. Anyone know much about him? The commentators said he is Byron Pickett's nephew... which I also like. -

Garlett to come back in? We still need outside class badly. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BRAYDON PREUSS
DistrACTION Jackson replied to What's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think it works and we should continue with it. Just means we dominate the majority of hit outs and also have a big tall either back or forward. They showed the heat map and Gawn sat back for a large portion of the game. That is exactly what we want, he can out mark any forward or bring the ball to ground for our backs to mop up. To think our backline had no May, Lever, Jetta or Lewis there......
