I hope I am as well! Though my preference is for Hogan to sign a 5 year deal and stay with his mates. -

The point I'm making is this will not be the end of our club and we will continue with or without him. -

While it would be disappointing to lose Hogan, I think we would be well compensated and have shown we can win games without him. The Hawks lost Buddy Franklin, possibly in the 5 greatest forwards of all time and went on to win 2 more flags. It's all about the club culture and I think we are starting to get it right so I'm not worried either way. Edit: Plus the most important thing in today's game is to have a strong midfield, which we are on our way to amassing a very good one. -
The Under 22 team was a bit disappointing. No Caleb Daniel? Hunt pretty unlucky to miss out also!

Greater Western Sydney (a dynasty to rival the Hawks)

While I do agree that we've just got to suck it up and work to get better, I don't think you can compare our high picks to GWS. They would have easily had double the number of 1st round picks we had, plus they had a ridiculous amount of money given to them by the AFL. And if you look into the Hawks success you will see they were in the right place at the right time. They definitely did some excellent recruiting (Puopolo, Bruest, Smith all mid to late picks), however they wee hitting their straps right when the AFL completely f'd the drafts with picks for GC and GWS. This mad it extremely difficult for the sides bellow them to catch up. Further to this, the AFL also decided that brining in free agency would also be a great idea at the same time (idiots), so they didn't need picks, they could take whoever they wanted. Ultimately this will even out and can see GWS winning 3-4 flags and once the concessions end the club will spiral into insignificance. But unfortunately the outlook for the AFL at the moment is multiple GWS flags and a hard working team like the Dogs will likely miss out because of the AFL's greed. -

If he was to leave, what do ppl think we would get for him? -
He is a 23 year old ruckman who is 209cm. He is always going to take time to develop but I don't think he is a spud.
-
Does anyone think we should go for Witts from Collingwood and just play both he and Gawn and rest one forward at all times? I know he is not in the mold of a ruck/fwd but having both of them would mean we would hardly ever lose a centre bounce contest and if we can train them to be Ok forwards could result in a huge dominance and point of difference for us. The Eagles have shown you can play two rucks and succeed as long as you have good runners around them. And no one say Natanui is a decent forward.... he is not.

I watched that. He has no idea.... hopefully he becomes the Essendon list manager one day

I'm all for this type of recruitment. I imagine at the end of the season we will be delisting/trading Terlich, Michie, Dawes, Grimes & Newton for certain. We will likely bring in 2 or 3 drafted kids who will need time in the VFL. As an older player Dal Santo won't cost much in terms of money and as a delisted free agent won't cost us a pick. He will add experience and leadership while likely playing around 15-18 games for the season and adding further depth (definite upgrade on Terlich). I think with the amount of youth on our list we can easily give up a spot to a mature age player with experience for a season.

I know it is just stats but the AFL site is saying Petracca is 'statistically' the best of the rising star nominations. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-09-06/the-stats-files-rating-2016s-rising-star-contenders I doubt he will win though as it seems they will go either Mills or Daniel. Apologies if there is already a thread for this- I couldn't find one.
