  1. It was good. We taken a ready made mid in Oliver (who looks a star), and then selected a developing forward (quality junior with pedigree). The fact that we taken Oliver beforehand, and the fact he has been so damn good - I think has eased the expectation on the Weed. We can just let him develop in his own time. He did look good against Hawthorn, but still has some way to go (physically).
  2. You're jumping the gun, just relax. Let this play out. There could be something to it, there might not be. But jumping down the guys throat before anything has occurred isn't going to help anyone.
  3. None of those guys should cost us a first round selection. Losing a first round pick is never ideal. I would be surprised if we given up one without getting something very significant back.
  4. Rockliff would be a great get for the right price. If that price is a future second rounder and something else (not major), then I'd be happy if that eventuated. Rockliff is a leader and a very good (underrated) football player. Forget the recent off field stuff, it is nothing.
  5. Another unintended consequence of the AFL's wisdom - bringing in the academy scoring without thinking of it being manipulated.
  6. As good as Parish looked this year, and as good as he might be - I think we pulled the right reign on Oliver. Obviously it only early days, but he does look as though he is one out of the box. He has that Dangerfield, Fyfe and Cripps power through the core. Also the uncanny ability to stand up and extract the ball when the heat is on (also like Kennedy, Fyfe and Cripps). Parish will never have those attributes. As good as Parish might end up being, I cannot see him being on the level of Oliver.
  7. If last years transaction with Essendon is anything to go by then we won't be playing hardball. I'm just glad we don't have a first round pick to give them for Hibberd.
  8. 2016 http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/teams/melbourne/gary-buckenara-analyses-melbournes-list-after-2016-season/news-story/eba2b968e008e1dfd778b94cb3c4a884
  9. The AFL would've loved to of given Brisbane a before the first round PP. They couldn't do that without compromising themselves greatly. They already look pathetic.
  10. No point getting a player solely on a needs basis. Because that is all it is. Vickery is bog average as a footballer.
  11. Depression is horrible. I admire Gary for putting himself out there again. Good luck Gaz.
  12. Up there with the signings of Roos and Jackson.
  13. So long as Jesse is back for pre-season. We have a big year ahead.
  14. Average form by the Dogs players. The AFL and the clubs under its banner like to use certain populations in order to exist as clubs. The residents of Ballarat have given to the Bulldogs. They have ensured the Bulldogs remain an AFL club. Now the time comes for the Bulldogs to show their appreciation to the residents of Ballarat, and the Bulldogs prefer to spend their night at the pub. It is beyond poor form.
  15. Hogan has points in the bank. Boyd has only just come good. Short memories.
  16. Yeah, that is me done. Off it goes. Not interested in political football. Same old from the umps.
  17. It is easy to fall in love with his skills, and his evasiveness, but is he effective? From what I have seen of Hoskin Elliot he is an X factor type, looks to have some levels to him. But the only consistency he has shown so far is that he is inconsistent - and cannot hit those high levels too often. GWS will ask a lot for him as he is a high draft pick. Not sure MFC can cater for him. We have Hibberd to fit in. Now rumors are we are also into Tom Cutler.
  18. Lamb can play. He is a decent player. Is an ideal type to target if we can get him cheaply. There will be kids around the 3rd round that could also be good pick ups, so I don't know what I would give for Lamb. We can't give all of our picks away. In recent times we've been successful with some of these late picks.
  19. Oliver was great. Weideman was good. The overall result was poor - but Melbourne like. On the upside we are getting rid of some of the old school types - who don't help us when the chips are down. Our young brigade looks promising.
  20. To be fair a lot of posters (not just from this forum) have implored the club to force his (Hogan's) hand. This is mainly due to Freo having an early pick. Taking that into consideration I think it is reasonable to expect the club to ask the hard question. But at the end of the day Jesse does have a contract, and he is perfectly entitled to see that contract out - whilst he weights up his options.
  21. I wonder how far away Hirdy is?
  22. Gee Essendon would be licking their lips. I am glad we don't have a first round pick to give them.
  23. Trengove looks in the best condition of his career. He will now have a pre-season to fulfill any potential he may have. The kid has been unlucky with injury, wasn't expected to come back, has came back - and has played ok. I still believe his best football is in front of him.
  24. It looked like the tackle did it. I think he was out cold before the kick in the head by teammate.
  25. I'm glad we don't have first dibs at the moment. Otherwise that would mean the Western Bulldogs would have first dibs on their kids.
