Yep, its painful hearing him every week with a 32 disposal game to his name with the crows... although maybe he flourished at Adelaide with their list... who's to say he would've flourished at Melbourne... he was looking good in touch when he left us.

Travis Johnston -

I'd still have him in the red and blue even if he isn't the Brownlow Medallist everyone expected him to be

Ward -

he was alright, added confidence to our defense when he would run and carry it out, but was also very frustrating at times too... should he have been delisted? probably not, I would've got rid of someone else.

I'd take the 2000 squad anyday though...

I loved Rigs, Leoncelli (however you spell it)

and Woewodin (can't remember the spelling for that either!)

and with Green in the forward line </font>(he counts as a player we miss cos they'll never throw him in the forward line again permanently lol)

Russell Robertson's form, especially from the 2003 and 2005 seasons. I know he's still there, but i miss the old Robbo. Robbo version 2008 is a mere shadow of the player he once was.

Thinking back tover the last few years,I reckon we really miss the General, Mr Bizzel down in defence and Peter Vardy crumbing up forward.

My FAV player of all time was Yeater!! I was a young kid in the late 80s, and love Yaters work in the defensive end. I still wear #8 to this day whenever I play football out of respect for Graeme Yeats. You don't see many smart blue collared footballers these days. Football brains are a thing of the past. Yeater was not the best player in terms of skills and speed, however his brain, heart and courage made him a player to admire.

I also had great respect for Yeats as well but you have got to realise in your later statement about having althetic ability taking priority over football smarts is flawed

It is very rare to see a player of great athletic ability and little footy smarts develop into a great player and Kouta from Carlton is one that stood out as one of those types

The game has changed over the 45 years i have watched it but footy smarts STILL wins football matches

Tough to answer but from what the people say about the leadership quality and football ability of Ivor Warne Smith he would be my choice

We miss men who played on pure guts. Men in the trenches who would fly the bloody flag week in week out! Men like Jim Stynes and Todd Viney.

We miss our natural leaders, who the others stood tall around. Leaders who united their troops, and inspired them to reach great heights. Leaders like Gary Lyon and Robbie Flower.

We miss the class of Yze, Ox and TJ at their best. The crowd pullers, like 'The Wiz', Robbo in full flight or Allen Jakovich.

And where's the mongrel? Willo, 'Balls' Grinter, Pickett...
