Why do Melbourne FC/AFL members have to pay the same price for their membership as say Collingwood/AFL members who have more games in Melbourne to attend. You cannot use your AFL membership to get into Skilled Stadium or the Interstate venues. Why do we pay the same price for less matches?

Yes but as a club support member I wish to attend Melbourne games first and foremost. I have emailed the AFL and await their response. I can't see how it is fair that we pay the same as those who have more games to go to. If everyone played at Geelong and interstate the same number of times it wouldn't be an issue. We will see what the answer is.

Then, if the price depended on how many games your team played at the MCG, why wouldn't everyone just say that they barrack for Port Adelaide to pay the cheaper price, yet still being able to attend the same matches?

The AFL Membership entitles you to 40 games of football at the MCG and Telstra Dome, Also provides access to matches at Telstra Stadium.

If you have the club support of one of the interstate teams, then you will get access to interstate venues through the clubs seating allocation.

As an AFL Member with Melbourne Club support, you are able to get tickets to interstate venues through the MFC at the normal rate.

Also as an AFL Member you get access to any finals match played in Melbourne, whether it be by just paying the nominated booking fee, or by turning up on the day for F.O.C entry (subject to capacity of course)

In fact, AFL Membership didn't even offer club support until 1992. When the AFL decided that clubs could benefit from AFL Membership aswell. (The price of an adult 11 game membership is given to the club).

In the end, you have purchased an AFL Membership, and you have the opportunity to see the same amount of games as a Collingwood supporter would. You may just choose not to.

If your a 'FULL Member' and you reside more than 180km from the Melbourne CBD,then you get a discounted rate of $322. inseated of $395 (2006/7 prices). But you can get it for $213 if you dont chose club support. (you will only get into the MCG and TD. ( maybe Aami stadium. depending on the new arrangements)

keep an eye on that BBP. Port Adelaide didn't want to do that last year, and the AFL had to fight to keep it. Look into the new brochure when you get it to make sure it is still happening.

AFL members had Freo home games up until last year aswell, until Freo pulled the plug

I guess MCC is great if you're a cricket lover, but useless if you're only into footy.

As promised here is my email to the AFL and the response. You will note that the main question is not answered. I rang a few minutes ago and spoke to a nice young lady who again couldn't answer the main question of why I pay the same for less matches of my team than say Collingwood AFL members. Incidentally she did say it does sound a bit unfair.

ENQUIRY TEXT=======As a Melbourne club support member of over 20 years can you advise why I pay the same subscription rate as Collingwood members who are able to watch their team 18 times in Victoria while I have about 14 to 15 games I can get into to see my team. My AFL membership does not allow entry to Geelong and the Interstate venues. I want to watch my team and I am being discriminated against in terms of opportunity and cost. WHY? I know I can go to other games but I am concerned with seeing my team, as a club support member. Also the AFL is forcing me to spend more if I have to travel interstate and then have to purchase tickets if available. Why?
