In the Hun it qoutes Dean Bailey as saying "We're going to gain a little respect"

Now 2 things in that the word "little" i think would have been said with a bit of tongue in check, the other is "WE'RE"

in other words WE ARE! not we hope.

Thats the talk i want, nay demand! As soon as i read that i felt good, i like the fact that he will demand respect not from the players but the whole of the football world, he reminds me of yoda "Do or do not, there is not try"

I expect a lot of players, ala Sylvia, Johnstone (if not traded), Davey, Brock to be in place by this guy. Jones will get better as well. Love this bloke already.

It's not the old Daniher "i think we can really put a dent into the competition." its all about gaining respect for a club that has lost its glory. go bailes

If I remember correctly, respect was a pretty big buzzword for Daniher as well. The problem was that he never had any from the players. He was just everybody's mate. For this reason he will be remembered as a great bloke, but a poor coach. Bailey is making all the right noises, and he seems to be taking control of the place with some ruthlessness.

Poor choice of words, Daniher was alot better than a poor coach. Dean Bailey has definatly got me excited, realy looking forward to seeing if Sylvia, Dunn, Bate, Brock, CJ, Newton and even TJ can go to new levels next year. Hopefully Bruce can return to his very best (which is extremely good) as well. Bring on 08!

Well he certainly wasn't a good coach. He made the fatal mistake that ensured he could never be good.

I read that article thiis morning over a bowl of cereal, and i must say it cheered me up a lot after the Judd sadness. I want this team to make Chris realize he made the WRONG choice-pure and simple- I Hate Carlton

Yes he was a good coach. His finals record over 10 years says he was a good coach. He did a lot for this club. He wasn't a great coach and that is why he isn't still here. Hopefully Baily is just what we are looking for. So far it seems like he has the respect demanding toughness as well as the smarts. Lets hope he is as good a game day coach as he is speach maker. It's good times :D

But without Daniher, we wouldn't have seen "run and carry" brought in...

My favourite part about this year was the possession style of football the backman employed. Except he picked guys like Ward, N Brown and Carroll who all can't reliably hit targets. Not that the injuries allowed any flexibility in selection, but the game plan didn't suit the cattle he had.
