Absolutely correct.

I am surprised why posters want to hold retain ordinary footballers.

ordinary footballers?

players who have had a bad season , bad career? a few bad games?

we couldnt clear our list of ordinary players in 3 seasons, if u were deciding who was going.

Ward, Godfrey, Neville and Hayes have been told they are no longer wanted!

With a couple of other rookies being released from the list but with melbourne having a plan of picking them back up as rookies or maybe senior listed - depends what happens trade week.

We need to move forward!

And it looks like we finally are......

This time of year can be tough, but is definitely necessary and it is good to see the club bite the bullet.

Anyway, thanks to the boys for their time at the Dees :) !!!

what the hell man...?

it just sounds like he/she was in the meeting when these were mentioned dont you think?

Maybe it is jace bode, i have heard rumours of him being on here!

Well done to Ward and Godfrey. I'd have given my left one to play one game. Rightfully, they'll be proud of their achievements. That said, it's the right decision, albeit a year or two too late.

Supporters that are disappointed clearly have a different agenda to our new coach.

He's after success.

Miller must be breathing sign of relief, Jamar as well

there wil still be more to come i think! There maybe trade interest for those since they are younger.

But ward and godfrey have been great players fror our club!

I remember wards fours goals against brisbane in 2002 from outside 50.

Godders right foot goal!

.....not to mention Ferguson, Warnock and Chris Johnson  .

Who knows what will happen in the future, but these guys may have some trade value and if nothing is forthcoming then, further decisions may need to be made.

Plus some of these players are quite a bit younger younger, and there is the thinking that maybe Bailey could want a crack at them before cutting them loose.

I think now that Neaves is gone and hopefully Jamar as well then we will definitely be looking to pick up Cameron Wood

A step in the right direction.

Congratulations to Godfrey and Ward for making the most of their abilities and for donning the red and the blue.

When you are rebuilding depth players are an unaffordable luxury. We need to stock up on young key position and ruck talent now so that our spine and our ruck division becomes a strength rather than the weakness it has been since our return to the finals in 1987. Ideally we need to gain an extra top 10 or top 15 pick to give us more flexibility with our first 3 picks so that we can use 1 on the best spine player available and 1 on the best 200cm plus ruck available. Still gives us 1 for a utility type.

I still think we need to open up more spots on the list to give us some speculative picks, again with key position/200cm plus rucks a priority.

Thanks to Ward and Godfrey for their efforts over a number of years for the club. I hadn't seen a whole lot of Neaves, but its disappointing that he didn't become the ruckman some of us hoped he could be.

Given that we had 41 players on the list this year, we need to chop one more player than we put onto the list this offseason. Thus far, we've now cut 6 names off the roster which, barring trades, would give us five selections at the draft(s).

There are two or three blokes who can count themselves very lucky if they survive the delistings. If those three senior delistings today represent the end of the culling for this off-season, then there will be quite a few blokes sent packing at the end of 2008.

Almost sounds like possibly a backroom deal may've been sold.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
