I didn't hear it myself, but as soon as I saw my dad the first thing he said to me was " You should of heard Nathan Bourke talking about Dean Bailey".

Bourke started off by saying, prior ro Dean's interview, he rung up his wife and told her that she he was going to be home a bit late, but shouldn't be too late because he didn't expect this guy to get the job. So all the other candidates out of the way for the day, late afternoon, you know that time of day were you're mentally drained and basically can't be bothered listening to most people. All judges I'm sure, not really fussed about this guy, well, according to Nathan that perception changed immediately. Dean started talking about all sorts of things, he had deep analysis of where certain players are at, talked about how Dunn and Bate should be playing in the midfield, where those 1 digit game players are at, to how he would act on trading.

It was probably more in depth than that, but my dad has short memory! :P

Nonetheless, I am very excited, this guy doesn't seem like your standard coach with the same old views, he seems fair dinkum about his footy and coaching methods, and the most shocking thing to me is he appeared to know so much about our list before even been given the job! :D

Gotta love the Bald Badger.

I think he is going to be a great coach. I wish I could have seen his presentation, to be a fly on the wall.....

I would like to see him make Bate put in more. He frustrates me so much. To often I see him have the ball, run really fast and kick long (which is great). Then you see his man get the ball and he does this half arse run behind showing no ability to run without the ball and apply pressure (which is just pathetic and why I am not on the Bate-wagon)

Dean Bailey will take our team to another level next year.

We have a solid squad - We just need some tweaking. But all that will be handled during the off-season.

Remember, at the end of 2006, we were dubbed the premiership favourites for 2007.

Now it's time to look at 2008 & Dean Bailey is the man to do it.

He's a hard man & that's what we need at Melbourne.

We've had a decade of Neale Daniher - He was soft. Bailey will do some things a lot different & it will be for the good.

Dunn will play midfield next year - I'm sure of it.

I heard part of the interview and confirm the contents as noted above.

Nathan said how very impressive Dean was throught the whole process and emphasised how strongly he impressed given he was the last guy to present and the selectors were pretty tired after sitting through a number of hours presentation.

Confirms that Dean won the job on his merits.

He also said that when he became involved in the process - at the stage when 10 candidates had been shortlisted by Harris and Chris Fagan, he and the others on the panel were not told of any preferences or ranking of the 10 by Harris or Fagan.

This gives a positive insight on how the process was conducted and we must acknowledge the end result as being a sound choice.

SEN also had the Phsycologist who was part of the MFC selection process on this afternoon also. I did not catch much of him but was mainly on the mental impact of losing on Roos and Djokovic (who had just lost US Open). I think they touched on MFC process briefly and again in a positive way.

Robbo!

We were considered the best victorian team and the one who had the cattle to break the stranglehold of the interstate clubs.

Then in the pre season Robbo and a few of the other older guys came out and said ... we don't just expect to make the finals we want to make and win the GF!

I actually heard the whole interview.

Sounds like Dean Bailey starred thru out the whole "process". However, now the talk is over and its time to get the actions plans under way.

He spoke about things like where attacks should start from, ie the midfield, very low percentage to score starting your run from the back pocket. and went into all those sort of percentages and how at port they are conditioned to know the percentages and so come the last minute in a tight game they know exactly what to do in that situation, unlike scott thompson

Just bring on 2008 - this guy seems able to think and plan original plans, not recycled ones.

It sounds as if he will not tolerate softness. Some players may find this hard, but we don't need those anyway.

GO DEES - top 4 2008.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
