How long has this guy got as the head of the AFL?

Does anybody know how long his contract lasts? The guy is now beyond a joke. The way he ignores fans opinions on the draft system to new rule interpretations, not to mention his stance and sanctioning of players with drugs.

I'm sick of him and would like to see some new direction and a new figurehead.

You've got to consider where the AFL is beyond the whole drug fiasco. Record crowds and profits, high memberships, overseas leagues etc. The league is a powerhouse and he has been head of it during its rise. He is quickly turning into David Stern who is NBA Commissioner; everyone hates the man but he does too good a job on certain things that all of his bad things are overlooked.

He was an idiot before he got the job, now his head is so far up his own ar$e that his heart smacks into his fore head.

It has always been about him, not the league, him, ie his comments about sydney, getting involved in the essendon board spill

Memo andrew: you are an idiot, shut up and stop involing yourself in things that have nothing to do with you, do something good for the game for once, get rid of the hand in the back rule, scrap the priority pick and get the draw fixed.

All of those things don't excuse his arrogance on certain issues. His dismissal of Terry Wallace's claims that he felt compromised coaching on Saturday against St. Kilda is a good example of that. What a pity Demetriou didn't take the time to sit among Carlton and Melbourne supporters on Sunday to see first hand what the current priority pick system is doing to the game.

I heard those remarks and thought that was pretty ordinary. Much like when he had a go at Sydney for their game style a couple of years ago.

His comment that the priority pick was not the "panacea" to all a struggling clubs problems was also a bit strange. The question that arises then is if it isn't, why is it there?

People see to forget that in many ways he is a lot like the Prime Minister. He is not the only person that makes the decisions, it's him and many others but when they get it wrong, in public opinion, he is the face of the AFL board that takes all the heat. He can make any comment about any team quite simply because if it concerns the AFL he has ever right to, being the "boss" and all.

'Fonzie' Demetriou, never one to admit he's wrong. Good on Terry Walllace for his comments, which were of course typically turned around and made into criticism of Richmond by the Fonz.

What an absolute arrogant [censored] bag. Has to go. Should be going for a role in parliment with his complete disregard of public opinion. To think this guy actually played footy once, and now wants to [censored] out the game like a coke can. Riduculous.

Say what you will.

But he has turned the game into a billione dollar business. Really pushed for interstate teams. Made the competition, wider, attendance bigger, memeberships up, sponsorships, tv deals, radio deals, development has become far greater. Helps out lowely clubs. He has done wonders for the AFL.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
