'BRETT Ratten's preference to win the Carlton coaching job was made clear yesterday when he deferred an interview with Melbourne ..."

I think we may asume the writing is on the wall there!!!

On an aside. I think it was during the Doggies broadcast that whilst interviewing Harris he made , to me, an intersting comment. Almost a throw away. He said "they would announce the coaching position at the end of the season, hopefully in time for the new coach to have input to the trading, drafting ".... Now to me the only reason you would hold off announcing immediately come seasons end wouild be possibly if the incumbent was still coaching at the highest level! That's curious to me as it almost rules out the contingent of assistants. I mean big deal if people know where they are going if finals still on. But you might hold off if it was the SENIOR coach. Not too many fill that criteria. Williams ( Sandy ) and Sheedy ( Bombers ) might be about it .

Just thought I'd mention that ... wondered if anyone else had thoughts?

cheers

I'm comfortable with the deferred interview. I want Ratten to focus only on beating the Dons this week. Sorry Ash! :P

I just want the Blues to win one more game.

If it came down to Williams and Sheedy, id be very please. Hopefully WILLIAMS!!!!

It seems that Ratten is going to stay with Carlton, a real shame both for us and the rest of the competition (Carlton will actually win games next year! ).

I'd say that Bond is currently the front runner, with McKenna, Riley and Connolly not far behind. I'm not so sure that Sheedy is going to be offered the coaching job, but he might be given a different role within the club (hopefully).

From all reports, the announcement will be made after Round 22 in respect to all participants and Mark Riley himself.

That doesn't mean that it'll take that long to make the decision. Although, if final presentations haven't been done yet, it might just take another month or so.

I haven't heard anybody be for McKenna. Is anyone wanting to be coach?

Ratten announced on SEN that he was withdrawing from the Melbourne coaching position.

His reasons were valid and similar to those spoken by Mark Harvey.

When did that happen?

No it doesn't. The assistants in question will still be working until the end of the season..........

exactly..until the end of season..not beyond.

Pity ... a presentation to Chris Fagan on Carlton's gameplan going forward would've been very useful

I know it already. All 18 of the Blues to line up in their forward 50. Pagan's Paddock in reverse.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
