I never want to wish injuries to players but I wouldn’t hate if Voss did an ACL

Or hit by a slow bus.

It's only 5 goals. We can still chip away. Somehow we have to learn to stick our tackles, get van rooyen into the game & man up.

Jvr of old tonight unfortunately.

Really need him to lift.

Umps are just killing us

Royal commission please.

Lost all our momentum.

Tx Petty.

I think that in Perth and Adelaide they use Perth and Adelaide umpires. (Remember game 11 in 2022?) Does anyone know different?

Much better quarter, boys are trying hard, the path to goal isn’t as efficient but it’s not always going to be smooth sailing.

Simply though we aren’t going to win this game playing against 22.

The boys aren’t tossing it in after a bad first qtr….Turner out for the game hurts though

You're right. Would have loved to keep it to 20 points or under but we showed we can sustain periods of momentum.

Those last two goals really hurt but I feel we will be faster than freo and may just close the five goal gap.

Our tall fwds need to get going.

Those freo goals aside our fight back was good, not sure we would have seen it last year after starting a game so poorly. Pity we couldn’t close out the the half 20 down.

We’re actually still in this, just got to keep them accountable, take our chances and can’t afford those late mistakes.

Are Maynard and Voss brothers? The similarities are quite uncanny.

I thought the same thing. I think they have the same hairstyle and look the same in the face

Patrick Voss is truly a waste of ape seed. For a player who couldn’t hack it at Essendon, being carried at Fremantle, most likely the first to go for Cox if his form dips sure has a lip that just cannot stop yapping.

What an absolute [censored].

Counting on our young on-ballers was always going to be a stretch. Steele has more disposals and marks than Windsor and Langford combined.

Brayshaw and co taking us apart.

I totally love Jack Riewoldt for his astute, unbiased and very insightful commentary. A real feather in his cap

Credit to Gawn, Steele, Chandler and some others who tightened right up that quarter and put their heads over the ball!

Simple skill errors cost us a few more goals across the half.

If we can score 45+ a half against Freo we’re building something pretty good.

Obviously we can’t give up 65 but once we started actually having a dip we stemmed that bleeding.

I reckon the XL pick over Murphy Reid is going to haunt us in years to come….

Great fight back in the second hopefully we can keep it going and make a real game of it in the last

Both missing the same chromosome

I don’t really understand why people are negative. Games like this are required.

Shows what we are lacking and what is required.

Anyone who thought this wouldn’t happen is certified insane but I like the positive vibes.

Helps figure out what priority is for draft upcoming as well.

Koltyns doing a great job on serong keeping him to 6 touches & brayshaw only had the 4 that quarter.

If kozzie can get going & latrell do something we'll get back in it

Much better effort around the ball that quarter. It’s good for our boys to fight back. We really miss Viney when we need a bit of grunt in game. It can’t be all up to Max, or waiting until quarter time for the coach.

This year is about developing and understanding what we do well, and learning from where we need to improve. The younger boys on ball need to learn it’s up to them to wrestle the momentum back.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
