Cameron Pedersen was a late developer and not the most highly skilled in the game but he gave his all every time he took the field. After a couple of seasons at North Melbourne for 16 games (20 goals), the 193cm utility who could play a bit in the ruck switched to Melbourne and played another 64 games for 50 goals. He retired at the end of 2018 and my lasting memory of him is the vision of him battling manfully as a relief ruckman matching it with guys who towered over him.

More recently he’s been starring with Phillip Island in the West Gippsland Football League and in one game this season, Pedersen gathered a whopping 51 disposals, 37 hit outs and 17 clearances.

Tonight the 38-year-old is running around for the Darwin Buffaloes against Waratah in the Northern Territory Football League.

If there’s someone out there who follow NT football and can let us know how he went, it would be greatly appreciated.

Great player who got the most out of himself and always gave it everything. He added a lot of physicality when we were a side sorely lacking in that area, loved watching him crash packs.

Was it 2017 when Gawn got injured and Pedersen was a more than adequate stopgap. Thankfully he also cropped up in some games with a few goals. It was very easy to like this player

I really like that Cameron Pedersen has earned such enduring respect. It is as if some instinct is telling us all that 'Everything this person has, he earned.' A feeling that he took nothing away from anyone else, either.

Good on Pedo. One of my favourites.

Darwin Buffs is my old Club from the 1980's, home of Matty Whelan & Andrew McLeod & many Top End champions.

He will struggle with the humidity until he acclimatises. Hope he does well.

That Carlton goal to ice the game from the pocket was chefs kiss

Everyone loves him because he always always gave absolutely everything. He went hard and ran himself into the ground every week.

Third time lucky? 😁

I can spell his name but every time I type on this bloody phone it changes the words with the worst auto correct ever.

I’m on a hatrick like Boland will be on Boxing Day

We loved Cam, our nickname for him was Clunker due to his fantastic pack marking ability. I reckon without Clunker, Bernie V and Chunky we would not have won the 21 flag. They led the way for the young guns. BTW He also played a blinder in our breakthrough victory against the Dorks

Funny that you mention Vince SL my wife loved apart from Neita, Yze and Robbo, she loved Clint Bizzell, Bernie Vince, Cam Pederson, Sam Frost and the senior player that came over from the bullies. They all punched above their weight and left nothing out on the park.

I don’t think Neitz or Yze punched above their weight. They are legends of the footy club and both looked like doing it from the day they started. Bernie Vince was an aging superstar when he came . Sam Frost was a liability but in a hopeless era at least he brought some dare and flare to the club. Robbo maybe I could agree with but he kicked a lot of goals.

He was essentially the best player at the club in the last month of 2017 as we unsuccessfully tried to break our 10 year finals drought. Had a couple of 25 possession 2 goal Brownlow vote games during that span.

A well liked versatile Dee after a slow start with the club in 2013.

Hi Wrecker46 I did say apart from Neita, Adem and Russell who are indeed legends of the club, poorly worded on my behalf.

We picked Cam up from North in a trade swap for Jordan Gysberts, and won that deal by a considerable margin.

IIRC, he copped a fair bit of criticism for ducking his head in a marking contest early in his career with MFC. He never did it again.
