X had a mishap at training last week and complained of a sore foot.

Today I met Matty Scarlett. He’s a lovely person. I thanked him for coming to work with us and he said it was his pleasure because our club is run so well and he’s happy to be part of a club that’s looking likely to succeed next season.

Kingy asked me if I’ve met David, our new psych, which I have. Then Kingy told me David’s a former professional basketball player who played for several sides in the NBL, boasting six championships, which is the league record for most championships for an individual player. Kingy said, “Google him, he’s very accomplished.” And he is, the six championships were with three different teams, including a three-peat with the Sydney Kings. Early in his career he spent three years playing college basketball in the U.S. for the Boston Terriers. Then he returned to Australia to begin his record haul of championships.

Kingy said he likes having a wide range of talents from various backgrounds and David is yet another example of this.

A “mishap” is quite a broad term, isn’t it.

I love when people volunteer information they don't need to. It's not white lies or spin. It's a really good sign for next year.

(BTW I get the comment re Bondi; I don't think I've laughed as I've been grieving. Nonetheless I have had some moments of mild joy too. We can talk about our Dees and enjoy a good coffee or a film tonight while also being upset with current events.)

When i arrived at 9.30 the regular rehabers plus May and TMc were out doing their special drills.

No sign of Viney, Henderson, Lindsay and Tom Mathews though they did turn up late.

Langford and Langdon wearing concussion caps and must be very close to joining in regular drills. Max and J Rivers wearing bucket hats.

I got to thinking Have i watched too much footy? as I could identify Scarlett by the way he walked.

Chin was in good voice.

And yes they do call XT Reg. (Only the third Xavier to play for the MFC).

Running the line was not as intensive as previous sessions but Shane and Reece gave it a go.

May came off to change from boots to runners.

Some of the younger players seemed very competitive in the drills as they know spots are up for grabs.

And yes, most of the drills seem to be fast movement of the ball by hand or foot.

TMcs family and others were in attendance which is always nice to see.

Is it just me that finds it weird that a team of young guys would give Xavier that nickname? I am assuming it comes from the country singer ‘Reg Lindsay’, and I would have thought you’d need to be mine or @old dee ’s age to think that one up!

I think that Reg is Xavier Taylor our new boy hardtack.

Sounds to me that Matty Scarlett is delusional.

I assume it’s David Stiff who worked for Collingwood for a while?

Reginald is his middle name apparently. It was his nickname before joining the MFC.

Indeed, it is his Pop's name. Apparently his family call him Reggie

F'ing feet.

Agree, chook.

Feet are really important in foot ball and are very vulnerable and unprotected.

Thanks Deezone, just another brain fart, of which I seem to be doing too often of late.

Yeah well anyone working at Collingwood would have to be very stiff to get a gig like that!

Maybe. But who should I believe out of a guy in the inner sanctum or (no offense) some random who's probably never spoken to anyone at the club?!

My mission should I accept it (and I will) is to find the answer to your question. 😁

Yes, David Stiff is our new psych.

Not sure if you’re joking but Matty Scarlett would’ve researched and done his homework before accepting the position with us. He’d be a fool not to have.

As @Go Ds said, he volunteered his opinion. I didn’t ask him any questions, I just thanked him for accepting the gig and he was resolute in his reasons for doing so.

The Tmac fam attends training often because Lmac (Leo) insists on being there. He loves watching his dad.

A while ago I mentioned on here about when I asked Leo who his favourite player is and he said, “Tom McDonald, number 25, Melbourne Football Club.” So formal 🥹

Well there’s been a change. Yesterday Tmac’s partner Ruby told Leo to “Tell Ghosty who your favourite player is.” Turns out Leo’s favourite player is, as he put it, “number 32” (not so formal). Reason being, when Spaz is at theirs for dinner he reads bedtime stories to Leo. When you’re 4yo that’ll do it 😁

According to Spaz though, they’re not bedtime stories; Leo has a book called Where’s Bluey? similar to Where’s Wally? and this is Leo’s book of choice because “he’s all across it, he finds Bluey before I do, he kicks my @rse every time.” 😅

Now Ghosty, I know you are a fan, but that line was taken specifically from one of my "Mission Impossible" training reports at Casey, a while back. Not that I mind coz imitation is the sincerest form of flattery🤩

Yes but my training report has a different title. It’s called Mission Possible.

Ah, one has a different understanding of Shakespeare when written in Klingon!

I think it would be good for the club to put a few senior players (in club gear) and maybe Kingy on a plane to pay respects at the Bondi tribute.

We have Caulfield dreams and the club needs to be aligned with locals and demonstrate this.

Could be there and back in quick time. Maybe you could pass this on?
