It's a pretty exposed site and a not very attractive area at the moment. Like their colours...

What we need here is one of those fire-fighting helicopters, and approximately 10,000 litres of milk.

At least we don’t have to be worried about taking the new recruits on a tour of our facilities.

Haters won’t like this but here’s a home truth.

The Kennedy centre has nothing that, aside for a whole heap of administration space, that Casey doesn’t. Same indoor kicking area, same pools, similar size gym, elite training field and it’s a distance from “hawthorn”.

Compared to Casey Fields, the Kennedy centre is less than half the distance to the MCG (where both teams play), the bayside suburbs (where most players live) and the geographic and population centre of Melbourne (providing decent access for fans).

The players might be happy with the facilities once they get to Casey Fields, but spending two hours a day in the car to get there and back has to be a major negative.

...and it's not leased, and it is up and running today, not in 5 years time (maybe), and they will expand it, and their Board set up the funding process and sought supporter engagement a long time ago. Unlike the MFC who squandered a post Premiership opportunity to build for the future of the club.

it doesnt take 2 hours to get to Casey. I live in casey and work in Port Melbourne. At the times they would head down to Casey ( BTW I know at least 10 players that live close to or within 20 mins from there) it would take 1 hour maximum. Players on the other side of town ie the west and north would take a while but i doubt there would be many over that way. Its a bit of a beat up the driving distance to be honest.

Sorry Poita you did say 2 hours in the car.

Driving to the MCG to play and home from Brighton is still 45 mins each way.... esp in traffic.

Not saying Casey is a perfect destination for a home base, far from it, but its not the be all and end all until we get a facility imo
