Apologies for the poor quality of video but this training drill is something I’ve not seen before and I think it’s great. It’s all about working together. In each group the girls’ shoelaces are tied together.

Cool training drill

Edo was walking on air. She’s itching to get back out there on Saturday.

I made a request to her. It was about a former Dees player who now plays for North and what I’d like Edo to do to her. I barely finished the sentence when she emphatically said, “[censored] oath I will!” 😂

Now ghostly your reputation is as a very gentle loving person and that you thought all ex demon players were still great. If you say much more the illusion will shatter and some here will be devastated,

That was my first thought.

Forgive me for my limited knowledge of the AFLW team but isn't Bannan one of our better/more recognised players?

Form slump or just overrated?

Doesn't surprise me if she's out either. 2 reasons – I think she's not a tall forward but much more of an outside player. I'd love to see her back on a wing or a flank tbh. Also, I feel like she's been a bit of a liability/weak in the contest. She gets there but seems to be watching others get the ball. It's not her game, and that's fine, but I can see why she might end up out of the team.

It’s hard to now like an ex-Dee when I never liked her in the first place, ie. even when she was a Dee. There aren’t many former or current players I don’t like but the force is strong with this one 😝

For a long time she’s been solid; reliable and consistent. But she’s dropped off a bunch of late. She looks so much slower now. This hasn’t been a good season for her.

Bannon is one of the best kick for goals on the run in the comp. Yes, outside run is her go! HFF, move up as far as HBF, on occasions, for the run back to goal. I agree, she is not a key forward (does not have the aerial skills or body on body skills). Unfortunately, she doesn’t seem to have trained for quick bursts or long runs as in previous years. My one concession is that she still exhibits goal sense and bobs up when a goal is needed.

Yes, I can only see the last few I pasted. I have re-posted earlier pics and they were around for a while before also disappearing. I don’t know if someone objects to me taking pics… It hasn’t been an issue in the past… same phone, same me, same Gosch’s… I’ll continue to offer my pics when I attend. In the end, I’m in a position to be there and I know others appreciate these snippets from pre-season training.

Bannon's big strength is her running game. She built her reputation burning along the wing/HF and kicked running goals where she carried the ball into the 50. Now they're playing her as a deeper forward and it has basically nullified her strengths and highlighted her weaknesses. She needs room to run in to be effective.

Seems silly.

Seems to have burnt quite a few bridges at her previous clubs. Her premiership reunions are going to be a hoot.

A cold morning with a gusty wind.

It was all about the run. They started in runners, doing sprints through the middle. Then gathered into the associated groups for the 2 km trails. The head group had Sparrow who led most of the way, though CJ hit the lead 250 meters out, I am unsure what the result was, did Tom have another kick, or did CJ set the new standards. Henderson in third and Chandler holding onto the group came a close fourth. I may be wrong with the placings! Oscar Berry worked hard at the back of the pack.

They then gathered with support, and the joy was obvious that that was over, especially during the next drills.

First time I'd seen them having an organised kick to kick with a partner in a while (we dropped that type last season). The mids and backs, in kick to kick, as the forwards are working on the routine of goal kicking.

Some drills of tackling and ball handling.

A bit of all in, tackling, moving through traffic, and snapping for goals starting just inside the 50 arc. About six to eight in defensive bibs. Using six balls, which go flying at goal after a bit of tick-a-tack, forward push and the whistle to have a go. I loved JVR work. He is looking good.

The sims had them going extremely fast. Again the offense outnumbered the defense. Coaches moved the ball so to get them transitioning fast. The right side of the paddock could use the ball for one, two or three actions then alternate to the left side team. Really direct footy, the emphasis was quick ball, no stationary all roll, go take it on, with the defensive corralling, tackling, intercepting, pressing. Plenty of angles with kicks to advantage of the lead.

CJ with beautiful runs, taking them on, though Windsor picked on him.

Heath can move well for a big. Has a reliable shot at goal as well. No longer shy, as the warmth is developing within the team.

Lever captaining the backs well, McDonald working with Howes to zone, but were often outnumbered.

Our runners looked primed.

Then into squad goal kicking in a structured way.

I am yet to see any of them on the boundary doing the miracle shots.

There will be big changes in our game style, if the few preseasons I've seen have any similarities to game day.

Finally got to attend a training session!

Love getting down when I can.

Love how CJ takes it on.

Windsor has wheels but his kicking really needs to get better. I must say most of the kicking were either to their feet or nearly over their head. Second week back so all is forgiven but they’d really want to get better at it soon or there’s going to be a lot of frustration in the stands by us supporters haha
