As an aside how handy would Hayden Young be right about how ๐Ÿคค

If he can get his body right heโ€™ll be the best of Freoโ€™s mids

I remember looking closely at that draft fairly early on and thinking we were a huge chance to get Noah Anderson. Then Gold Coast suddenly got a freebie from the AFL. That went away, but there was another Victorian who was a beautiful kick of the footy. It was never going to happen, though; Taylor was in love with Luke Jackson.

And you canโ€™t blame him for it, but thereโ€™s a lot of what ifs with that pick now that heโ€™s back at Freo

Still, anything that gets you a flag is an undeniable win, and thereโ€™s no doubt Jackson was integral to that

Definitely. And it's hard to be too sulky about it when we got Lever, but three years is just paltry.

Dons getting 9 could scupper our chances of Farrow. Given they would be aware we wonโ€™t pick Sharp, so they pick Farrow before we do. That would suck.

Have we officially ruled out Sharp tho, and how can they be so sure?

Love it Pennant.

Father in law is from Scarborough, I stay there often. I wear my Scarborough Surf Club jacket to the MCG in winter all the time ๐Ÿ™‚

On Farrow he's one of the harder ones to get a read on in this draft. The athleticism is definitely there and would hold him in good stead but I'm not quite seeing the Hayden Young in his play. Looks a little one dimensional and really wants to get onto his left. Not necessarily a bad thing but the next question I'd have is does he have the tank to get to as many contests as possible?

Could go either way this one but I wouldn't be reaching with a top 10.

I have long been one to shy away from highlight reels so I would suggest that the critics/analysts who have the time catch up with vision of longer pieces of games in which players are involved. It might lead to some reassessment of some of those thoughts.

In the meantime, hereโ€™s an interesting read about Jacob Farrow thatโ€™s been around for a little while but, in light of Cal Twomeyโ€™s last draft, I now highly recommend.

Farrow blocks out the noise in golden top-age campaign

Top West Australian prospect Jacob Farrow has stormed up draft boards this year, but has remained laser focussed along the way.
ย

I went through some opposition notes from season 2024, of note in preparation for West Perth was Kayle Gerreyn taken by Essendon in last yearโ€™s draft was main ruck who rested forward and Farrow played off half back pushing up as release outlet to stoppages but was pinch hitting in the ruck when Gerreyn was being rested. Farrow used athleticism and leap to negate taller opponent and hit ground as 4th mid in the contest.

Now thereโ€™s something I hadnโ€™t remembered with him, not that heโ€™ll ever play that role at AFL level

Put simply, he's a left-footed Trent Rivers

Then I would be thrilled if we get him.

I was hoping for Rivers the whole 2nd day of his draft.

I remember where I was when he was drafted, standing outside a shop in Palm Cove, while my wife was inside spending.

I yelled when we selected Trent and she ran out of the shop thinking something was wrong and when I explained I got told off, not unusually.

If we draft another Rivers that would be great.

From what I have seen he is a poor decision maker and often runs himself into trouble. Easy enough to fix but might have to learn a lesson or two the hard way

Better short kicking than Rivers

Even better.

So do I. Highlight reels can make any player look good because you're putting the player's best moments into a short video.

I remember seeing Jack Fitzpatrickโ€™s โ€˜highlightsโ€™ and laughing and thinking he has no chance as it was the worst package I have ever seen. The joke was on me when we picked him. Just one of many sick jokes in that time.

I reckon JT has seen more.

Haha! Me too! We were linked to him by some media people as taking him with one of our early picks and I could not believe it!

Jack kicked this ripper for Hawthorn in the dying minutes of a game in 2016. Hawks went on to win. Respect.

JT via Gettable seems to think otherwise, which is nice to hear.

Okay, im starting to warm to Farrow. Spent some time really just going through his highlight tapes.

I liked this one because he plays as a full time mid and thought at times he looked explosive around stoppages.

Agree he was quite impressive moving into the middle with his willingness to get from inside to outside the contest and take the game on. He reminds me most of Will Day with the way he moves and his ability to be versatile across the ground, be effective overhead and use the ball well.

Yes see that. Fair compare to Rivers in a way. Iโ€™m a yes to Farrow if heโ€™s available. He controls across half back. He Competes well. He Can go into midfield and win contest and clearance. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Yeah I certainly see the Will Day comparisons as well.
