Scouting Notes 30/10/2025

"A rebounding defender who uses the ball beautifully, Farrow jumped up during the national championships.

Club West Perth / Joondalup Kinross

State WA

Height 188cm

DOB 21/09/2007

Kicking / Run & Carry / Intercepting / 1 on 1 Defending

A classy halfback, Farrow has been linked to AFL stars Hayden Young and Jordan Dawson. Like those two players, he is a beautiful kick who went at 86.8 per cent kicking efficiency during his under-18 national championships campaign with Western Australia. Farrow is also a strong-bodied player who can take a nice intercept mark, makes good decisions, is composed under pressure and can provide some run and rebound when he does win possession. He was trialed through the midfield in Western Australia’s first two games, before returning to his natural position in defence and racking up 29 disposals and 803 metres gained in the side’s third game against the Allies. Farrow was named in a back pocket in the under-18 All-Australian team, before returning to West Perth where he has impressed at senior level in the WAFL. In a round 16 loss to East Perth, Farrow racked up 22 disposals, nine marks and six rebound 50s. He also had some big games in the Colts across the year and spent time as an inside midfielder late in the season. Farrow finished seventh in the agility test at the national draft combine in October, stopping the clock at 8.034 sec.

2025 WAFL Colts 132 ranking points, 24.7 disposals, 5.4 marks, 4.2 intercept possessions, 3.2 rebound 50s, 4.4 tackles, 0.6 spoils (9 games)

2025 WAFL 93 ranking points, 17.7 disposals, 5.3 marks, 6 intercept possessions, 3.7 rebound 50s, 3.7 tackles, 0.7 spoils (3 games)

2025 National Champs 108 ranking points, 19 disposals, 4.8 marks, 1.8 intercept marks, 4.5 rebound 50s, 3 score involvements, 3.5 tackles (4 games)"

Seems like a less explosive but more skilful version of our almost-Bo Allan pick from last year

A Cumming/Farrow double would be a good outcome in my view. Both have mid potential but both can play other roles and develop off half-forward and half-back respectively.

I’m a fan of farrow I feel like he is the short term rivers replacement developing in the back half while rivers goes into the midfield, with Farrow eventually going into the midfield when he’s ready

i feel like im seeing a trent rivers clone..

Now that it’s getting more likely that we draft Farrow, I’d like to apologise for calling him a poor man’s Harvey Langford and say I’ve always been a big fan of his work

Cal T’s write up …

Farrow started the season as a prospect to watch and as the year went on became Western Australia's leading draft hopeful. His flexibility – from half-back to midfield – and his size – 188cm – have been key parts of that, with the damaging left-footer standing out because of those attributes, He averaged 25 disposals at colts level with West Perth and also stepped up to play with West Perth's senior team, where he averaged 18 touches.

Where does he go? Farrow is attending night one of the draft, and he is in the mix for several clubs with early selections. Essendon has done its work and Melbourne is a chance if he gets through to the Dees' pair of picks. Should he get past them, Hawthorn and the Giants loom as real contenders.

Nairn and Farrow is looking good for us if both available. We have Prasad coming in next season as a small forward (if he continues to improve). So maybe not a small clever forward on the menu for picks 7/8?

Please sell me on this kid @Pennant St Dee - I personally don't see it.

Height, power, kicking, versatility, aerial game

Lots to work with

You'd want to be confident in his midfield scope though

Is he actually a good kick, or is he just left footed? I don't think it's bad, but I don't see it as a weapon either. He's been compared to Hayden Young, but Young has always had an absolute laser.

For a powerful kid he seems to have trouble breaking tackles. Admittedly I'm watching the same clips as everyone else though, so there's a good chance I'm missing something.

Happy to bet on upside, and I'd trust JT knows what he's doing if Farrow is the pick.

Based upon online highlights, I agree. Lindsay's look much better IMO. The WA factor scares me too

Having said that, a highlight reel doesnt show anywhere near the full picture, so what the f would I know 🤷‍♂️

In Taylor we trust 🤞

As @adonski said and his points there is a lot to work with I have questions on both the West Perth boys ability to win the contested footy around the stoppages, but Farrow reads it well and can transition the ball with a penetrating kick from half back.

He’s a good fit for a team looking towards playing an open game with speed on the ball and the ability to change lanes to force opponents to defend the entire oval

Love what I see in his highlights. Not just great skill-wise with his kicking but takes good attacking options with the ability to adjust quickly if he sees something better. Good at all types of kicks, short, long, dinky, lobbed etc and strong overhead too

Interesting, am I the only one who doesn't see it? There are a couple of good hit ups in the game against VM. He does win some good one on ones but often he just kicks long to a contest ?! And also often does hit them low and with much penetration....

No i dont see it either.

Not only do I not see any comparisons to Hayden Young, but he has no qualities that really stand for a guy being talked about as a top 12 pick.

Not only is Young far more explosive, but his kicks are far more low and fast unlike Farrow who just tends to bomb to a contest and plays the percentage safe.

He is not someone that tends to take a lot of risks like Young does, who likes to pull those difficult kicks off.

I definitely see more in the Jordan Dawson comparison.

As an aside how handy would Hayden Young be right about how 🤤

If he can get his body right he’ll be the best of Freo’s mids
