I know this will be an unpopular view, but at this point, with seemingly no one on GCS list that is tradable, 7+8 might just be enough.

We shouldnt be sending anything back to them, 7+8, nothing else.

He doesnt want to play for us, if we hold him to the contract, we will be going through all this again in 12 months.

Is that we we really want to do?????

exactly. its as god a deal as we will get from any club. but we also cant keep him now. i believe his influence is too strong and we need to start afresh. He's no longer the A Grader we had so pick 7,8 would be a great result.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong or tell me im an [censored] if I’m being one but I think it’s [censored] hilarious that trac kicked up a fuss about Clarry last year and wanted him gone, but he’s now going up to the suns and is gonna have to deal with Jamarra’s off field antics.

Guess it all depends how many people we'd want to draft as well, but i do want to retain #24

Jamarra likely off to GWS. Tracc likely off to Gold Coast. They will be in different states. Brand Tracc should be fine. Although once he leaves, I don't give two hoots.

GWS? I haven’t seen any of that at all whatever the case is I cannot wait to have trac out of the club, absolute snake he is. I can’t believe where we are at with him. He was my favourite and the reason I fell in love with footy again after growing up through the neeld and Bailey era (I’m only 22 yes). It makes me so sad it’s turned out this way but at the same time what do you do? Get him and Clarry out and have a total reset and rebuild around the young kids and hopefully Humphrey if all goes well.

Ignore me, you are correct. Jamarra likely off to Gold Coast. I will go back to my rock that I have been living under.....

Don’t feel bad, trade week does funny things. Footy is an absolute blur from now to preseason.

Dif being tigers wanted picks.

We dont really. We need players

Do we need players? Or did we only want players when they were better options than the picks?

24 = 621

28 + 41 = 725

Would rather them take our later selections and let us use 24 how we see fit.

Come on, it’s Melbourne. We’ll give up at least 2 of the picks! Just hope it’s not 24 and 28

There's a good chance that the club would prefer both Trac & Ollie out so that they can kick-start the team again, without their baggage

That would leave us with May, but it looks like he's been told in no uncertain terms to pull his head in (or look elsewhere)

With or without the troublesome trio, we're in a rebuild of sorts anyway

Take the picks and move on, this bs has gone on for long enough

Whether we challenge again, short or long term, will be highly dependant on our recruiting and King's coaching ability

Got lots of spots to fill

6 and 7 I'm begrudgingly content with, 24 back, absolutely not.

Whether people want to acknowledge it or not it needs to happen. And again whether people want to acknowledge it or not our team isn’t in that bad of a spot. It allows rivers to go in as a full time mid, kozzy more time in the middle, any of the young boys (leb, kolt, harves or even Lindsay) proper midfield time or better yet Humphrey if that does happen. Petty goes back or Jed gets a starting spot developing under Rick. It’s total reset. If we’re [censored] for a year or so, so be it we’ll be better for it.

Even though the media are clearing pushing the Petracca + Pick 24 for Picks 6+7, such is their disdain for the MFC at the present time that I'd bet money that they'll turn around and say 'Melbourne didn't play hardball enough' or ' Petracca was clearly worth more' once the deal goes through.

Everyone is kicking us while we're down at the moment. With this deal, we have the chance to really dig our heels in and say 'enough'.

Hopefully we'll be singing Tim Lamb's praises in about 55 hours time.

I don't care that much about pick twenty-four. It won't that useful in this draft.

Pick 24 is the first pick of the second night of the draft even if we don't have a player still on the board it could end up being very valuable ie. North and Richmond last year

North traded pick 27 last year (Matt Whitlock) for what ended up being pick 3

Should be holding onto pick 24 and give them 28 and 42

Hopefully whatever the return from Oliver is will end up being the Kalani white pick

Of course they will....they had been clamouring for us to sack Goody for 2 years and when we do it "how can they treat their only living Premiership coach with such disrespect?"

North offered that deal to everyone, I don’t think teams have been as reckless with their offers purely for the first pick of the 2nd night the last few years. That said, it does add some extra value as you never know what clubs will do with that night between draft rounds.

Mainly though looking at this draft it does have some talent out until around pick 30 where that pick will end up but not too much further.

We need to take at least 3 picks in that top 30ish, plus White, Sinnema then fill remaining spots.

If we relent on 24 then Brisbane would probably do 28 and 42 for 23 and 56 as it helps them with points. That would get us back up the other whilst preserving a late pick for White/Sinnema if needed.

100%... I am a bit over how much they want their cake and eat it too.

1 - THEY knew they had academy kids coming in. If they don't want to risk them, then don't offer Petracca the world and have him nominate you.

2 - THEY want to get a 4x All Australian Norm Smith Medallist, but will only offer us two picks in a heavily compromised draft and then expect us to part with a pick which has a bit of currency to it so they can get their academy kids.

3 - THEY have a player who wants out, but they are holding him to his contract. By trading him out, they'd get the 4x All Australian Norm Smith Medallist they've promised the world to, and they'd also preserve points for a academy kids... but no, he is off the table. They're a joke!

If we only get picks AND give up Pick 24 as well, I will be absolutely ropeable!

I wanted a player for Trac in return but is not likely.

If we did get Picks 7 & 8 and keep 24.

I would be very happy if we can turn those picks into Robey, Lindsay & Pickett. I’m thinking JT has a plan to move up in this draft to get his players. I wouldn’t be surprised if our 2026 1st is traded.

And I wouldn’t be surprised if Alex Davies name comes up in trade… It is already weird Trac in a Suns jumper. But also wearing a different number than #5.

I'm sure pick twenty-four will be useful for something but it won't be a deal breaker

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
